Introduction [INT01] =============================================================================== This is my second FAQ. The ASCII art was done 50% by glassgiant and 50% by me. I removed all the annoying dots and cleaned it up a bit. All the ASCII art in this guide (except for the title) was made by me. If some letters look a little different it is because I was trying to re-create the Red Dead Redemption font "Chinese Rocks" in ASCII form. In this FAQ I will list the trophies and how to get them in the most detailed way I can. My first FAQ can be found here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/933123-heavy-rain/faqs/59195 =============================================================================== 2. Trophies [TRO03] =============================================================================== The trophies are in a certain order. They go from Bronze-Platinum and Single Player-Online. Meaning the Online trophies are last, and the Single Player trophies are first. The story driven trophies are all at the beginning. After the story-driven trophies, the trophies are alphabatized and sorted with their trophy class (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum). The DLC trophies are last. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Red Dead Redemption has 59 trophies total, these are: | | | | 1 Platinum | | 2 Gold | | 12 Silver | | 44 Bronze | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some Pre-game tips: 1) Every one of these trophies are completely obtainable. The only one that's actually going to put you out of your way some is the 100% completion. Most other trophies can be obtained through the storyline without trying. And "How the West Was Won", but that's easy once you read my description of it. 2) There is only one "Missable" Trophy. That would be the "Spurred to Victory" trophy. Look at the trophy for more details. Every other trophy can be obtained either during or after the game. I didn't really pay too much attention to the trophies until I was almost done with the game. 3) Keep a save file before you do the last mission. You may not understand why I ask you this, but you will. It will come in handy. I did it on my game, and I always questioned why I would need it. It came in handy for the "Friends in High Places" Trophy. I am telling you, it WILL have some use to you. You can go ahead and not make an alternate save and see what happens. But when the time comes that you need it, you will be saying "Ah, I should have listened to that guy who wrote the trophy guide". 4) Do the "Friends in High Places" trophy before you hit Max Fame. Once you hit max fame the bounties will be cut in half, and you will be very sorry you did not do it earlier. Also, while going for the Friends in High Places trophy, try and get "Heading South on a White Bronco". See Friends in High Places for more details. 5) For some reason, in this game the Bronze Trophies are actually harder than the silver trophies. Some bronze trophies require strategy (like High Roller), where as every silver trophy (except for 2 or 3) as self explanatory. Also, one of the gold trophies, "Nurture of Nature" will take about 15 minutes to complete. As with some of the Bronze trophies (like Manifest Destiny) will take you a very, very long time. 6) There is a glitch with the 100% trophy. A glitch that has a solution but takes a long time and is rather frustrating. This glitch happens with the bounty hunter missions. You are at 99.9% and trying to complete the last bounty hunter mission. But no matter how many times you complete the bounty, the game will not give you the last percent. To completely avoid the glitch, make sure you complete the bounty hunter missions BEFORE you complete all the other criteria for the trophy. This means you can have 1 stranger mission left, 1 job left to do...or just finish it as soon as possible. If you have run into this glitch, there is a solution. The solution is to delete your Game Data, NOT YOUR SAVE GAME DATA, but the game data. If you delete your save game data I don't know what to tell you other you must be very incompetent. Delete the Game Data, then start up the game again. Once you reinstall the Game Data, try the bounty mission again. It should work this time. 7) This platinum trophy is absolutely beautiful. It took me 21 hours and 13 minutes online, and 29 hours and 33 minutes offline to get the platinum. It is well worth the effort. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MMMMMM MMMMMMM MMMMMMM MM MM MMMMMMM MMMMMMM MM MM MM MM MM MM MMM MM MM MM MM MM MMMMMMM MM MM MMMM MM MM MM MMMMMM MM MM MM MM MMMM MM MM MMMMMM MMMMMMM MM MMM MM MM MM MMMM MM MMMMMM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MMM MM MM MM MM MM MMM MM MM MM MMM MM MM MMMMMMM MM MM MMMMMMM MM MM MMMMMMM MMMMMMM MMMMMMMM MMMMMMM MMMMMMM MMMMMMM MM MM MM MMMMMMM MMMMMMM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MMMMMMM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MMMMMMM MMMMMMM MM MMMMMM MMMMMMM MM MM MMM MM MM MM MMMMMMM MM MMMMMM MMMMMMM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MMM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MM MMMMMMM MM MM MM MM MMMMMMM MMMMMMM +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.01. That Government Boy [00301] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Complete "Exodus in America". Guide: Story-driven. This trophy only requires you to do the first mission of the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.02. Land of Opportunity [00302] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Complete "The Assault on Fort Mercer". Guide: Story-Driven. You get this trophy after you complete Fort Mercer, very fun mission by the way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.03. Sons of Mexico [00303] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Complete "The Gates of El Presidio". Guide: Story-Driven. You'll get this trophy towards the very end of your stay in Mexico. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.04. No More Fancy Words [00304] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Complete "An Appointed Time". Guide: Story-Driven. You get this trophy 2 or 3 missions after "Land of Opportunity". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.05. A Savage Soul [00305] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Complete "At Home with Dutch". Guide: Story-Driven. This trophy will come up after your third mission in Blackwater. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.06. The Benefits of Civilization [00306] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Complete "And the Truth Will Set You Free". Guide: Story-Driven. The trophy will come up when you're done with Blackwater, that's all I can really say without spoiling too much. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.07. Into the Sunset [00307] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Complete "The Last Enemy That Shall Be Destroyed". Guide: Story-Driven. Complete the very last mission of the game, what an incredible ending it was. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.08. Bearly Legal [00308] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Kill and skin 18 grizzly bears. Guide: For all those who don't know, this trophy has you kill 18 bears for a reason. Look at the trophy name, "Bearly Legal". Now if you didn't know it was actually about bears, what would you think? That some kid is just old enough, or "Bearly Legal". 18 is the age in most countries where a kid is old enough to do certain things and is no longer considered a minor. Because 18 is bearly legal! (everybody laughs) I highly recommend not worrying about this trophy until you have 100% on the game. Mainly because the challenges you must complete will require you to spend alot of time in Tall Trees, which is where the bears are located. Like in a Sharpshooter challenge you must kill 3, the story I know has you kill at least 3, and rank 8 of the Master Hunter challenge has you kill one. That is 7 already that you've killed. Not to mention the time you'll spend looking for flowers in Tall Trees in rank 10 of the Survival challenge. And the time you'll spend looking for Elk and Bighorn in Rank 7 of the Master Hunter challenge. By the time I was done with getting 100% on the game, I had killed and skinned 27 Grizzly Bears. Now if for some reason you want this trophy but are not going for the 100%, do the following: 1) Purchase the safe house in Tall Trees, it's $400 but it will come in handy. 2) Get alot of Medicine and Dead Eye Chewing Tobacco. Trust me, you will use it. 3) Grab a powerful gun, preferably a high end repeater or rifle (not a sniper). And make sure you have alot of ammo. I Personally did this with Henry's Repeater, with 200 bullets (purchased the item that makes you hold double the Repeater and Rifle ammo from the gunsmith in Escalera). I don't recommend the Buffalo Rifle for this, because unless you shoot it in the head...chances are it won't die. If your going to be hunting from a distance (by using bait for example), it's better to use a repeater or a sniper rifle if your really far away. If your planning on killing every bear up close and personal, best use a shotgun. 4) Go out to hunt, but know the following: A)They normally hunt in packs, not as big as wolves but in packs. So if you kill one, expect another 2 steps behind it. Then expect two more behind that one. They don't normally come four at a time, but it never hurts to expect and anticipate. B)Dead eye is your best friend for this trophy. As soon as you see a bear charging, do not hesitate to enter dead eye and unload every round you have into it. It may only take 4 or 5 shots to kill it, but I like to make sure. C)I've commonly seen bears in this game nicknamed Ninja Bears. And After wandering Tall Trees, it is very easy to see why. They sneak up on you like ninjas. The only way to tell if they are coming is to drown out all noise and listen. Listen for the sound of something very large panting, and running. A terrifying roar is a good way to know if one is there. But they will kill you before you hear it. Just be ready with your favorite gun and a quick hit to R3, that's all it takes to kill a bear. 5) Save after every 4 kills. But what about every 5 kills? But what if I'm on a streak, won't leaving to save ruin it? Simply put, I don't care. Save every 4 kills or you will regret it. I was naive at a time. Thought I could kill 10 bears in a row, then not get trucked the most ninja of the ninja bears. But that was long ago. After that I decided it was best to kill, skin, and save after every four bears. You can risk 5 kills, then see another and think "Why not, I mean it's right here". Four kills is the safest way to go about it, period. But there is a very useful way of "Saving on the go". Buy a horse deed, it doesn't matter which horse the deed is for. After you kill 4 bears (or less) go into select and click on the horse deed. The game will autosave while you are still in Tall Trees. This elimanates the need to ruin any "Kill Streak" you may have. But I do warn you, using the deed will replace your current horse. So make sure the horse your replacing isn't one your emotionally attached to. 6) Actually SKIN the bear after killing it. I killed about 6 or 7 bears before I realized the trophy called for skinning them as well, don't be like me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.09. Buckin' Awesome [00309] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Break the Kentucky Saddler, the American Standardbred, and the Hungarian Half-bred. Guide: This is a somewhat annoying trophy, depending on your luck. For all those who don't know, "Breaking" refers to when you ride a horse and tame it. You know when you lasso a wild horse, get on it, then have to try and keep from falling off? That's breaking. You do not have to hitch the horse, just break it. Let me give you some tips if your going to go searching for these horses: 1) All the horses that you must break are solid colored. The Kentucky Saddler is completely blonde, the American Standardbred is completely black, and the Hungarian Half-bred is completely white (slightly silverish). 2) These horses are rare, meaning that you will most likely have a hard time finding them. But if you look long enough in the right area, you will find the horses you need. But let me tell you, it's much easier if you don't exactly "Look" for them. I mean, keep an eye out but for some reason the horses just showed up when I didn't spend time looking for them. Like the Hungarian Half-bred. I never looked for it, I was riding around in Mexico and I looked to the side and said "That's a nice horse". And I broke it just like that, no effort required. 3) When your sure you see a horse, get your lasso ready and stay on it. You don't even want to know how annoyed you will be with yourself if you spend 30 minutes looking for a horse, just to have it get away. Also, if you get pulled by your lasso (for taking too long trying to mount the horse), get back on your current horse and follow the horse that you need. This will happen several times with the fastest of the 3 (the American Standardbred). 4) You probably don't need help with this but I'll say it anyway. When your actually on the horse your trying to break, keep calm. It's ridiculously easy, I usually just move the Analog stick from the Left, wait a second or two, then move it to the right. ------------------ |Kentucky Saddler| ------------------ Let me start off this trophy by saying that you already Break the Kentucky Saddler in one of Bonnie Macfarlane's missions. In one of the first couple missions in the game, you must lasso horses for Bonnie. In the mission following that mission, you must trap some horses in a canyon. Well during this mission, a very fast blonde horse escapes the trap. You are required to catch it and tame it. That's the Kentucky Saddler. Right after you tame it, Bonnie will say something along the lines of "That's quite a nice Stallion you got there". Let me advise you to keep this horse, as it is very fast and will help you early in the game (with races and such). You'll know it's the Kentucky Saddler because of the very nice blonde coat. -------------------- |American Standbred| -------------------- This is my favorite horse in the game. It is all black and incredibly fast. This horse hangs out in "Beechers Hope" in West Elizabeth. You will have to look for a little while, but the horse really is worth the looking. Once you see it, refer to tip #3 above. Everything I wrote in tip #3 was basically about this horse. --------------------- |Hungarian Half-Bred| --------------------- This horse is located in Mexico. It is completely white, but at night you could easily say it's light silver. You will find it in the western part of Mexico, somewhere in between Escalera and Chuparosa. I personally found mine east of Chuparosa, but that's why I wrote tip #2. If you look for the horse, and it simply is not there, stop looking. You'll find it when you least expect it, like most other things in life. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.10. Bullseye [00310] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Get 250 headshots in any game mode. Guide: This trophy is very easy and should be obtained before the end of the game. If for some reason you don't have 250 headshot before the end of the game, you can always redo gang hideouts and whatnot. Or you can go for the 100% completion. If you still don't have it by then, you can keep doing gang hideouts or go online and get 250 headshots there. The headshots don't stack between Multiplayer and Single Player. So it's 250 headshots in single player, OR 250 in Multiplayer. Its much easier in Single Player. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.11. Clemency Pays [00311] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Capture a bounty alive. Guide: This is very easy. Find a "Wanted" poster somewhere in a town (my first one was in Armadillo), and accept the bounty. Then go to the place in which the bounty is and kill all his men. But leave him alive. When you get to the bounty, bring out your lasso and throw it at him. Hogtie him and put him on your horse to bring him back to town. When you get to town, take the bounty off your horse and collect your prize. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.12. Dastardly [00312] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Place a hogtied woman on the train tracks, and witness her death by train. Guide: Notice the requirements for this trophy. Place a hogtied WOMAN, as in not a man. Find a woman and hogtie her with your lasso like you would do any bounty. Then put her on the back of your horse. Click start and look at your map to see where the train is. If your far enough in the game there will be two trains. Pick one, and go to it. Once you get there take the woman off your horse and place her on the tracks. Sit there and watch her die...could have been better if you ask me, but it was still cool. After she dies you get the trophy. I have read about some glitches with this trophy. The people place a woman on the tracks, watch her die, but don't get the trophy. I honestly don't know what to say except for try it again. People say they've done it with nuns, prostitutes, and completely random women. Almost everyone who has reported a problem with this trophy reloaded a save, tried it again, and got the trophy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.13. Exquisite Taste [00313] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Purchase a rare weapon from a gunsmith. Guide: There are only 5 rare weapons in the game. They are listed below. Also, the only place to buy these rare weapons are also listed. You can only buy these from a gunsmith (obviously). The time at which you can obtain them is listed in chronological order. The prices are if you have the Max Honor rank (Hero). Everything is half off, the normal price is listed in brackets. 1) Semi AutoMatic Shotgun- $500 [$1000]: Escalera, Mexico 2) Lemat Revolver- $625 [$1250]: Escalera, Mexico (after the final mission in Mexico) 3) Mauser Pistol- $400 [$800]: Blackwater, West Elizabeth 4) Carcano Rifle- $550 [$1100]: Blackwater, West Elizabeth 5) Evans Repeater- $500 [$1000]: Blackwater, West Elizabeth ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.14. Fightin' Around the World [00314] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Knock someone out in melee in every saloon in the game in Single Player. Guide: To get this trophy you will need to start a fight with someone in every saloon in the game. To fight, hold L1 and switch to your fists. Then continue hitting R2 to swing your arms around like an idiot to try and hit something. You can hit R1 to duck but you really don't need to. Someone is considered "Knocked Out" when they go to the ground and stop moving. They will get back up eventually if you stick around long enough. But after the guy your fighting goes to the ground and looks dead, you can leave the saloon. However sometimes nobody is in the Saloon, in that case you can corner the bartender and knock him out. Be careful though, he'll try to run away. But if you knock him out it still counts toward the trophy. Saloons are marked by a big sign that says "Saloon". In Mexico the sign says "Cantina". But if your trying to find a saloon in the town without looking too hard, click on your map. Saloons are places where people are drinking and having a good time. They are easily identifiable on your map because there will always be some kind of card game going on in a Saloon. Find the big poker or blackjack icon, and you've found the Saloon. The following 7 towns have Saloons in them: ------------ |New Austin| ------------ 1) Armadillo 2) Theives Landing 3) Rathskeller Fork -------- |Mexico| -------- 1) Chuparosa 2) Escalera 3) Casa Madrugada ---------------- |West Elizabeth| ---------------- 1) Blackwater All you got to do is knock someone to the ground in every Saloon and the trophy is yours. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.15. Friends in High Places [00315] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Use a pardon letter with more than $5000 bounty in Single Player. Guide: Oh this trophy. I personally give this trophy the most annoying trophy in the game award. Let me tell you something. GET THIS TROPHY BEFORE YOU HIT MAX FAME. Because once you hit max fame all bounty prices will be cut in half. Meaning this trophy will take twice as long, and cost you twice as much ammo. If you have hit max fame, and don't have an alternate save file (for some ungodly reason), then you can still get this trophy. It will just be much, much more annoying. Let me advise you to NOT wear your bandana during this, as you will find out later in the description. I recommend keeping an alternate save file. Not only to preserve any honor you might have, but to keep you from that moment when your at $4800 and think you can do it...but then die. You will have this alternate save file to save periodically throughout your quest to get a $5000 bounty (or Q45G's as it will be referred to). You will also need to realize that in this alternate save, money has no value. Spend it on anything you need for this trophy. You will not be using this alternate save after this so whats it matter anyway. Things you will need: 1)Pardon Letter 2)Bandana (acquired in Theive's Landing) 3)Lots of Ammo 4)Medicine and Chewing Tobacco 5)Fast Horse (Preferably Hungarian-Half bred) 6)A will strong enough to spend a large amount of time running, shooting, and then running some more. You will need a Pardon Letter to use after you finish your Q45G's. The trophy will not come up unless you pay off your bounty with a Pardon Letter. During your Q45G's you may run out of Medicine, chewing tobacco, or ammo. At times like this, put on your bandana and walk into a store. Without your bandana, the shopkeepers will see the cold face of a killer and run away. With your bandana for some reason, they will sell you whatever you want. Your need for lots of ammo, medicine, and chewing tobacco should be obvious. The need for a fast horse should also be obvious, but I'll explain why you need it anyway. You will need a fast horse for the times when you are picking off Lawmen, and somehow one catches up. You will then have to make a very fast getaway on your very fast horse. Trust me, it will happen. There will be no time to think about using medicine, instincts will kick in and you will try to run. Don't believe me? So be it, but just like with everything else in this guide I've said trust me on...you will be the one sorry. I've already got this trophy, I know how to get it again. Your the one who needs help, not me. Fast Horse, get it, leave it at that. But if your wanting the "Heading South on a White Bronco" trophy as well, make sure that fast horse is the Hungarian Half-Bred. The last thing you need is a strong will. You will be spending at least 30 minutes trying to get this trophy. You will die alot, you will, but you need to keep going and trying to get it. With saving after every couple hundred dollars, you shouldn't have too much trouble. --- Moving on with how to actually get the trophy. --- Many different people recommend different things. Camping on the roof in Blackwater, hiding in the horse stables at Macfarlanes Ranch, hiding behind the bank desk in Armadillo, and finally using the Gatling Gun in El Presido to pick off the Mexican Army. But the way I did it, and the easiest way in my very honest opinion is the following: 1) Go to Armadillo and kill some people until you have the law chasing you. 2) Get on your fast horse and ride away. 3) From a safe distance, kill some law officers. There should only be 8 total following you. 4) After you kill 1 or 2 law officers (I wouldn't risk more then 3), the rest will catch up. Ride away and use medicine if necessary. 5) After your a safe distance away, wait and kill some more. Keep using the technique of Run, Shoot, Run, to kill all 8 Lawmen following you. 6) Once they are all dead, go back into Armadillo to save your game. 7) Depending on how many you have killed so far, you may or may not have the U.S. Marshals chasing you. 8) If you are looking to get Heading South on a White Bronco, call over your Hungarian Half-Bred horse and outrun them (not too hard). If you don't have that horse or already have the trophy, just kill some more people to get the law chasing you again. 9) Sooner or later you will have Marshals after you, they are very easy and no different than Lawmen. Kill them just as you would anyone else. 10) Repeat steps 1-6 until you have a $5000 bounty. Yes, it really is that easy. If you are having any further trouble with this trophy (and I can't imagine why), please let me know. I have described it in as much detail as I can and many people have told me this works. I hope this description helps you get the most annoying trophy in the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.16. Frontiersman [00316] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Obtain Legendary rank in any Single Player Ambient Challenge. Guide: This is another very easy trophy. I'd like to start this trophy off by saying that if your going for the 100%, don't worry about this trophy. As you will be getting it anyway. But if for some reason you want this trophy, but not the 100% completion, go for the "Treasure Hunter" Challenge. It's by far the easiest with a youtube video. Or you can do the Survival challenge, just get some survival maps and you'll be good to go. Those 2 are the easiest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.17. Gold Medal [00317] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Earn a Gold Medal Rank for a combat mission in Single Player. Guide: A combat mission is any mission that has a time, shot accuracy, and headshots. If you didn't know, you can get bronze, silver, and gold medals based on these 3 criteria. From what I know, you need a time under 2:30, 100% shot accuracy, and a large percentage of those shots (if not all) focused on headshots. You can access missions that you've already done by going to Start->Stats->Missions. Alot of people recommend different missions that are easiest, but from what I have searched, it seems to land on these 3: 1) Realities of Politics 2) Old Swindler Blues 3) Let the Dead Bury Their Dead --- And by the way, the 3 criteria do not all have to be completed in the same run. You can do a speed run, then accuracy, then headshots. You can do choose the order in which to do them. You can replay the missions as many times as you want. Also, remember to skip all the cutscenes in these replayed missions. --- Realities in Politics is very easy, and a good option. You can ride ahead of the Marshal, get all headshots, and the 100% accuracy is easy. The time is what your going to have to worry about on this one. Remember, you can make different runs for different criteria. Old Swindler Blues is probably the easiest. There are 4 enemies in the whole mission. Just get headshots on all of them, and you have filled out the headshot and shot accuracy criteria. The mission is also easily beaten in a gold medal time. Remember, you can do 3 different runs for the 3 different criteria. I personally got this trophy on Let the Dead Bury Their Dead. It took me about 30 minutes to get all of the criteria. Unlike Old Swindler Blues which I did after I got the trophy, I got a gold medal in that in about 10 minutes. This mission is again, easy. The shot accuracy was the most annoying, though easy, it was annoying. My final stats were 2:07, 100% accuracy, and 18 headshots. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.18. He Cleans Up Well! [00318] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Obtain the Elegant Suit. Guide: This is a very easy trophy. As soon as you enter Theives Landing (East of Macfarlanes Ranch) the full suit is available for purchase at the tailor in Theives Landing. It's not too expensive, so you should be able to get the suit as soon as you enter Theives Landing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.19. Heading South on a White Bronco [00319] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Evade the US Marshals while riding the Hungarian Half-Bred horse in Single Player. Guide: First of all I'd like to point out the incredible sense of humor of Rockstar. As soon as I got this trophy I laughed after I got the meaning. Anyone remember the car chase of O.J. Simpson in a Ford White Bronco back in 1994? No? Oh well, moving on with the trophy. This trophy is very tricky for some people. Mainly because they don't know the difference between a Law Enforcement Officer, and a U.S. Marshal. Well I can tell you the difference so you don't have to spend 3 hours trying to get this trophy (like some trophy guide writers). --- The first thing you need is the Hungarian Half-Bred horse. Do this by going down to Mexico and looking for a white horse, silvery almost. It should be somewhere in the middle of the map, somewhere near Chuparosa (that's where I found mine). Lasso it, and break it in to make it available for purchase. Or better yet, right after you break it take it into a town and hitch it to save you $750. But to save yourself alot of looking, try and lasso the horse while your still in Mexico doing missions. --- After you have the horse and a good amount of ammo for your favorite gun, you need the second part of the trophy, the U.S. Marshals. To summon U.S. Marshals, you need to first kill 20 Law Enforcement Officers. But please, bring 5 bottles of medicine with you to save yourself a headache...trust me, you'll use it. Oh, and if your going for the "Honorable" role in your game, save before doing this, as it will take a massive hit on your honor. This is how I did it: --- 1) Go to a town (preferably Armadillo) and kill some people until you have the law chasing you. 2) Get on your Hungarian Half-Bred horse and ride away. 3) From a safe distance, kill some law officers. There should only be 8 total following you. For some reason 8 is the maximum number of lawmen on the screen at one time. 4) After you kill 1 or 2 law officers, the rest will catch up to you. This is your cue to ride away until they stop shooting at you and you regain health. 5) After your a safe distance away, wait and kill some more. Keep using the technique of Run, Shoot, Run, to kill all 8 Lawmen. 6) Once they are all dead, go back into Armadillo to stir up some more trouble. 7) Follow steps 1-6 until you have killed at least 20 lawmen (should only take 3 trips to Armadillo). 8) Go to the settlement of Plainview (right near the Mexican Border), and save your game. You don't have to save it, just rent the room and when given the option to save, hit cancel. It will keep the save file you had before you killed people and 6 hours in-game time will still pass. But if your cautious and think that the Marshals might kill you, its best to save in an alternate save file. I recommend saving, but not on your clean and honorable file. 9) If you have killed 20 or more lawmen, when you wake up you should have the U.S. Marshals chasing you. If not, save again. You will know because a little box in the upper left hand corner will say the U.S. Marshal has found you. 10) When they are following you, call your Hungarian Half-Bred horse (with the UP directional button) and ride to the border of Mexico. You will probably lose your wanted level before you hit the border, but just in case that doesn't happen you will have some insurance. You can also kill them. They die just like any other lawmen. 11) As soon as you lose them, you will get this trophy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.20. High Roller [00320] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Win over 2000 chips in a hand of Poker. Guide: This is a trophy that requires alot of luck. The easiest place to get this done is in the Mission "Lucky in Love". This is because you start off with 1000 chips, with 5 guys at the table. Making there a total of 5000 chips at the table, which you only have to win 2000 of. You don't have to know anything about poker to get the trophy this way. If you've already done this mission, you can still replay it by going from Start->Stats->Missions->Lucky In Love. Or of course you could do it the normal way...you know, the harder one. Now before you attempt either method, know that Poker in this game is based off of luck mostly. There is no Thousand Yard Stare or any Game Winning Poker Face to threaten or scare your opponents. Both Methods will take a little while. -Method 1 will take anywhere from 5-20 minutes depending on your luck. -Depending on your luck and overall skill level at Texas Hold Em', Method 2 could take anywhere from 15 minutes-2 hours (or more if your really bad). The only real difference between the two methods is that Method 1 lasts a total of 2 minutes and Method 2 will take about 5-15 minutes a game. =================== READ THE FOLLOWING: =================== If there is one thing you get out of this trophy description, please let it be this. You do not, let me reiterate, DO NOT have to know how to play Poker in order to get this trophy. Just follow Method 1 and everything will work out fine. ---------- |Method 1| ---------- 1) As soon as everyone gets their cards and you have the option to bet, raise the bet to 50. You can raise it to more if your feeling lucky. Try to go with the flow of the bets made. If you raise to 50, and Landon raises to 100, raise to more then 75 next round. The highest I got when betting 50 is he raised me to 270. 2) If everyone else puts 50 or more in, you have a decent pot going. 3) On the second round of betting, bet 75 or more if you think you can get away with it. Refer to step 1 for what "getting away with it" means. 4) On the third round, go all in. Most of the time, everyone will fold their cards, leaving you left with the whole pot. Your going to want 1500 chips or more at this point. ***We are now on the 2nd hand of this 2 hand game*** 5) Honestly, step 5 is just repeating steps 1-4. Depending on what you bet in steps 1 and 3 in both hands, depends on the total chips your left with. I finished this with 3325 chips, can you beat it? -- OR -- ---------- |Method 2| ---------- You can disregard everything I just said and try to win 2000 chips the intended way. In that case you'll need to go to a table with 5 guys, and the starting count is 1000 chips. That way there are 5000 chips at the table. Use the table in Blackwater. Use your Texas Hold' Em skills to wipe the table. To win this way, do the exact same thing as described in Method 1. Only in the long run it will take more skill then luck. It is really easy to do it this way, and you get money out of it. But on the third round, people will usually match your "All In" instead of folding. Which makes it harder. But the above method will still work. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.21. Manifest Destiny [00321] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Requirements: Kill the last buffalo in the Great Plains in Single Player. Guide: You will spend at least an hour of your free time looking for buffalo. There are only 20 buffalo in the whole game, they do not respawn. And no, they are not needed for any of the challenges. So kill as many as you want (or all of them) and not feel guilty about it. There isn't much you need for this trophy, except for a powerful gun and alot of patience. You don't have to kill all 20 buffalo at the same time, just kill all of them (not as easy as it sounds). Don't waste time skinning them. Money will replenish itself, hours and hours of wasted time however will not. I've read of people just taking out their Evan's Repeater, taking a swig of Moonshine, and killing all 20 buffalo in a matter of seconds. You have to kill the buffalo in order for the kills to count. If they get run over by a train or drowned in the river, the kills will not count and you will not receieve this trophy. If that happens, the only thing you can do is reload a save and hunt them all over again. There are 2-3 "encounters" of these buffalo. The following are very accurate descriptions of the "encounters" of these buffalo. The following depicts the true descent into Dementia you will surely develop while hunting for these buffalo. ------------- |Encounter 1| ------------- I like this encounter, very easy to find buffalo. Just wander the Great Plains for a little until you come to a massive herd of Buffalo. Take out your gun and shoot as many as you can. Follow the herd, but mind the stragglers. Don't venture too far off from the herd. Kill as many buffalo as you can (about 2 shots to kill each buffalo). If you lost count of how many buffalo you killed, go to Start->Stats->Misc->Buffalo Killed. There are only 20, so you have an idea of how many you have left. After your done killing buffalo for now, go save four times so 24 hours in-game time passes. I honestly don't know if the 24 hours does anything but it will make you feel like you've tried everything when you second guess your logic in the following encounters. ------------- |Encounter 2| ------------- To save yourself from madness in this encounter, know the following: 1) Completely disregard anything that you think even looks like a buffalo. Rockstar did an incredible job of making every plant, rock, and tree match the shape of a Buffalo. You will spend much of your time asking whatever deity you pray to why would Rockstar do this. After seeing so many buffalo shaped rocks, trees, and plants, you begin to lose all hope. You begin to think "There are no buffalo". You will second guess your intellectual state of mind. Don't believe me? You will, everything you thought you knew will be questioned. At the end of it all, nothing will be certain. Now I may be exaggerating a little but it does get to you. 2) You know the song, "Oh give me a home, where the Buffalo Roam!", it is talking about the Great Plains. You will be surprised to find out that there are actually NO Buffalo here. I mean, the buffalo is an American symbol for the Mid-West. And they are NON-EXISTENT in this game. There is really not much that I can tell you in this encounter. I mean, I can emotionally prepare you for it but I can't make the Buffalo spawn. All I can say is keep looking. Pull out a sniper rifle and look all around you. Who knows, you may even find what your looking for (unlikely). Ride around not only the middle of the Great Plains, but North of the Great Plains, South and West. They will show up eventually. It's like Encounter 1 only it will take alot longer to find them. ------------- |Encounter 3| ------------- All the stuff I said in the previous description, about questioning reality and whatnot is completely true for this encounter. I let 1 Buffalo get away in Encounter 2. ONE LOUSY BUFFALO. I spent the remainder of my night looking for that Buffalo. 2 hours of literally riding around in the Great Plains, stopping every hundred yards or so to pull out my Sniper Rifle and look around. Honestly by the end of my search (when I actually found the Buffalo), I was very close to full-out crying tears of joy. I was on my stomach, controller in one hand, face down on my bed, screaming "OH GIVE ME A HOME, WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM! BUT WAIT, THERE ARE NO BUFFALO". Everytime I repeated it, a little bit of hope was lost. The only way I found the buffalo was because I had turned my T.V. up loud to hopefully hear the sound of Buffalo. I heard it, looked up to see if it was just another cruel joke by Rockstar. But it was a Buffalo. The most gorgeous thing I had seen in the game so far. I gladly killed it, then waited for what seemed like hours for the trophy to come up. It was truly, beautiful. |
