For those of you who cant seem to kill a Rathalos, Im gonna tell you.

There are to ways...

The First- get a pit fall trap, 2 nets, up to 10 Sm barrel-bombs, 3 Lg barrel-bombs, 10 Lg
barrels, 10 gunpowder, 10 mega Potions, and a couple flash bombs.

Now, there are different ways to do it, but the main idea is to get the Rathalos in a pit
fall trap, put 2 Lg barrel bomb on each side of it's head, and put 1 Sm barrel bomb in the
middle. after they blow up, do it all over again (make sure to combine items).

Now, My freind and I found this out and I dont think very many players know about this one

The Second- When you start the quest, go to the Rathalos's cave and clear it out of any
other monsters. 
Once thats done, wait for the Rathalos to show up. 
When you start fighting it, you want to stay in front/off to the side of it. 
Then only attack it's head when it shoots a fire-ball, and keep doing that till it dies
(be ready to dive if it starts to charge and also BE READY FOR ANYTHING)

PS. If you get realy good at this strategy, you do even need any other items besides you
armor and weapon
