~Section 1.0 - Introduction~
Hello, I am Jeremy Kirkpatrick, and this is my guide to
Yu-Gi-Oh 5d's Tag Force 4! I hope it helps you out, back in my day before
GameFAQs was made we had to walk uphill both ways in the snow, barefoot, for
miles just to get some help on a Yu-Gi-Oh. Sheesh. Anywho, this is only my
2nd FAQ, so it's not perfect, (if you have any suggestions or tips on how I
can make it better, and not so... boring, please let me know
[see contact section]) but I did try to make it easy for you kids and your
fancy CTRL+F watchamawhodinky. I'm just kidding, I'm really not that old,
but if you're looking for any specific character you should have too much
trouble if you search for the name, I've included all the deck mods I made
to the various characters, as well as the decks I personally used during the
storyline, if you're looking for a specific deck theme, you can probably
search for that, I did not use any abbreviations, so instead of GB's, you will
have to type Gladiator Beasts. Um... I think I'm done here.

~Section 4.0 - Heart Increasing Strategies~
There are several different ways for you to improve the way your partner
feels about you, and here's a list of them, along with my recommendation(s).
Note: In order to unlock an event, the character's heart MUST be pink. It will
look full at a point in time while increasing, but it will be red. This is
NOT accepted by the game as a full heart.
1. Talking - You can partake in 3 different mini-games with your partner, a
nd every positive interaction will increase his/her heart meter.
1a. Talking about Cards: This is a test of your knowledge,
you will be shown a picture of a card, (just the graphic, no other information)
and be given 3 choices to the right of said card, with a question.
Ex: (Pic of Blue Eyes White Dragon, Q: What is the name of this card?
Options: Triangle - Dark Magician, Circle - Blue Eyes White Dragon,
X - Red Eyes B. Dragon, you would hit the Circle button and you're
partners heart meter would increase. As the level increases, the difficulty
of the questions increase.
1b. Talking about Dueling: This is a weird form of Rock-Paper-Scissors,
in which you are presented with a statement from your partner, and 3 emotions.
Triangle is Angry/Rock, Circle is Cry/Paper, and X is Smile/Scissors, gradually
the picture to the left of the screen will reveal itself, showing you the other
persons 'play', you would select the winning hand. As the level increases, your
opponents hand will start to reveal itself in sections, and in wider gaps.
The more time you have left before correctly answering,
(the little bar below the picture), the bigger increase you get.
Note: If you 'tie' your partner, their heart level will still increase,
but only by a little bit.
1c. Talking about Them: On this screen you see a 3x3 grid of text
boxes with different 'levels of success' written in them. These range from
Evil to Very Good, your goal here is to use Square and Circle to place
'ladders' for your bar to follow and connect to as many Very Good's
(or Good's, less effect but still positive) as you can. You will now where
your bar starts by watching the the boxes above your grid before your time
starts counting down. As the level increases, you are presented with less time,
and you also will start to get some ladders already present on the grid,
making it slightly more difficult.
Notes: This is very effective depending on the situation. The outcome of these
mini-games is highly dependant on your Partner's mood. Skull is the worst,
and your actions will have little bearing on your opponent, this proceeds to
the little Japanese Anime annoyed symbol, which is hard to describe, then to
"...", then a little Music Note, and Finally a Heart. With your Partner's mood
and interests maxed out, you can easily clear about half a heart with this
method alone.
2. Gifts: You can buy items from the item machine,or recieve items otherwise,
and give them to your partner. Depending on his/her likes/dislikes,
his/her mood/heart meters will increase/decrease.
(OMG! That is a lot of /'s.)
Notes: This is effective when used in conjunction with the previous method.
Giving your chosen partner gifts will sometimes allow you to speak
with them more, it can also raise their mood so the speaking has
bigger effect. The combination of these two is what I mainly used.
3. Partnership: You can invite your partner to tag along with you for
the day, and every positive interaction you have with any character will
also get credited to your Partner's Heart.
Notes: This is a great way to level up your partner's 3rd heart,
(assuming you partnered with him/her to get the right to a Deck Edit)
and is very effective in that you don't risk having any negatives
influence their heart meter.
(Positives are credited while Negatives are ignored!)
This is also good if you wish to save some DP on items,
as you can talk to several different people, and get your
partner credited for all of the conversations.
4. Other: This consists of the MC, and and Bolyston, both which have a
chance of increasing your partner's heart meter.
Notes: Obviously not recommended, but if you happen to find either
of them running around, no reason not to take a shot at it.
(Especially the MC, who can also give you various other prizes.)
_______________________________________________________________________________
~Section 5.0 - Strategies for getting DP~
I'm not going to list all of them like I did in the previous section, but I
am going to discuss a few different ways you can go about this. First and
foremost, I'd like to mention the tournaments. They are all tag tournaments,
but they give out pretty big prizes on top of the regular match DP. This would
most definitely be my preffered method, the only downside being that you can
only really do this once you have a good partner to work with, (preferabbly
someone whose deck you can edit.) So you have to already have established
a decent deck as well. I recommend trying to synch up with either Jack, Akiza,
or Crow, and using the respective Suggested Deck Edits and Deck Strategies
listed below. Otherwise, you can duel around randomly which also works fine,
or you can try to find the MC or Blister, both of which have a chance of
providing you with free DP.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Section 6.0 - Unlockables
I am not sure exactly how to unlock each individual duelist, I didn't
keep track for the sake of getting some confused. (Thinking Y is unlocked
by beating X's Storyline, but Y is really unlocked by beating Z number of
storylines), but for your sake, here are the UMD recognition unlocks, as well
as how to unlock the different packs. New ~ Added in a few character stories

~Section 7.0 - Character Storylines~
Below, you will find who you duel in each event, without giving out
why you are dueling them, so no worries about spoilers. The card you earn
(completion of each storyline results in various rewards).
My Suggested Strategy (S.S.), admittedly usually whatever I felt
like using at the time, (Whatever the S.S says, it's referring to the
pre-made decks that I have listed below, named the same thing.) and/or
with that specific partner, and difficulty ratings out of 5.
The difficulty ratings are based on my experience with that event,
you may have a hard time where I got insanely lucky, or vice-versa,
obviously you're not going to end up with the same exact hand(s) I did.
I've also included brief comments on the actual duel, some are just tips,
some rambling, but they are all advice nonetheless, it was hard to write
any comments on the easier ones, but the ones I had more trouble with usually
will tell you what gave me trouble, and ideas to counter it.
I'd also like to mention the fact that when you beat the storylines
of all four signers, (Yusei Fudo,Jack Atlas, Akiza Izinski, and Luna,
you are rewarded with the ability to add one forbidden card to your deck.
Yusei Fudo's (Signer) Story
Card: 3x Stardust Dragon
S.S.: Any Random Meta Really, doesn't matter too much.
(I used Gladiator Beasts, though it's not typically a good idea,
because Yusei obviously doesn't have any Gladiators.
1. You and Yusei tag duel against Officer Trudge (Dark Signer)
and a Security Officer.
Difficulty: 3/5
Not much trouble to be found here, Yusei is suprisingly
capable of taking care of himself for the most part, just try to
maintain field presence and card advantage.
2. You and Yusei tag duel against Akiza Izinski and Jack Atlas.
Difficulty: 3/5
This one's a little tricky, as both of your opponents are
capable of summoning tough monsters rather early, and in the case of Akiza,
repeatedly. If you start with a Lightning Vortex, Mirror Force,
Torrential Tribute, etc., you're in good shape, just make sure to hold
on to it for the most opportune moment,
(hitting Akiza right after she swarms really hits her card advantage)
3. You and Yusei tag duel against Kalin Kesler (Dark Signer)
and Officer Trudge (Dark Signer)
Difficulty: 3/5
Don't let Kalin get an empty hand at all, especially
if he has Infernity Guardian or the means to summon Hundred Eyed Dragon,
do your best to keep the Nightmare hands off the field, Kalin is the
bigger threat here.
4. You and Yusei tag duel against Roman Goodwin and Devack
Difficulty: 3/5
Not much to concern yourself with here either, I just keep a
Spell/Trap remover handy to take care of the fields in the event of an
Earthbound Immortal.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Yusei Fudo's (Satellite) Story
Card: 3x Junk Warrior
S.S: Any Random Meta (I used Infernities, just because)
1. You and Yusei tag duel against Officer Trudge and a Security Officer
Difficulty: 3/5
Again, not much to worry about, Card Advantage, blah, blah, blah.
2. You and Yusei tag duel against two Satellite Adults.
Difficulty: 2/5
Very easy, you don't need advice for this one.
3. You and Yusei tag duel against Rally Dawson and a Child from Satellite
Difficulty: 2/5
I actually laughed when I saw this one. Just watch out for
Rally's annoying cards like Turbo Booster, he can actually ruin your
field prescence rather easily.
4. You and Yusei tag duel against Jack Atlas and Officer Trudge
Difficulty: 3/5
These two just didn't work well together. Try to keep a
Vortex or other mass effect card handy for some of Jack's tougher monsters.
(Red Dragon Archfiend, Strong Wind Dragon, etc.) and you'll be fine.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Jack Atlas's Story
Card: Red Dragon Archfiend x3
S.S.: Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
1. You and Jack tag duel against Carly Carmine and Mina Simington
Difficulty: 1/5
It's barely a fight, don't let up, it'll be over in minutes.
2. You and Jack tag duel against Rally Dawson and Carly Carmine
Difficulty: 3/5
Irritating amounts of stall, but once it runs out,
(like it always does), it'll end pretty quickly. Just be patient.
3. You and Jack tag duel against Carly Carmine (Dark Signer) and
Misty Tredwell (Dark Signer)
Difficulty: 2/5
Having had edited Jack's deck, this wasn't much of a challenge at all,
you should have no problem with this.
4. You and Jack tag duel against Yusei Fudo and Crow Hogan
Difficulty: 4/5
You finally get a proper challenge! Crow swarms like crazy, and
synchros just as much, using his powerful early game to stall for Jaden,
who sets up his graveyard for a powerful mid-game, so this may be a pain...
Luckily, if you're running the Red Eyes Darkness bit, you can throw out some
powerful monsters early too, and/or setup for a complete lockdown.
Use your powerhouses to knock out Crow's early game, and finish them off
before Yusei can do anything relevant.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Akiza Izinski's Story
Card: Black Rose Dragon x3
S.S.: Plants
1. You and Akiza tag duel against Misty Tredwell (Dark Signer) and
Carly Carmine (Dark Signer)
Difficulty: 2/5
Akiza can command the field relatively easily but you need to make
sure the backfield doesn't get too out of control. This isn't much of an issue
though.
2. You duel against Akiza Izinski.
Difficulty: 4/5
Have a lot of monster removal handy, or copy her strategy
with your more efficient deck. Be careful with your bi play cards,
as she can swarm insanely fast with huge monsters.
3. You and Akiza tag duel against two Security Officers
Difficulty: 4/5
I actually had some trouble with this one, but I think it was due
to my first two attempts dealing me out some rather bad cards, so I can't
comment much here, as when I finally got a good starter hand, I mopped
the floor. So in summation... best of luck!
4. You and Akiza tag duel against Misty Tredwell (Dark Signer) and
Carly Carmine (Dark Signer)
Difficutly: 3/5
See #1. xD
_______________________________________________________________________________
Akiza Izinski's (Duel Academia) Story
Card: Gigaplant x3
S.S.: Plants
1. You and Akiza tag duel against Female Student and
Mina Simington
Difficulty: 3/5
Mediocre Duel here, not much to worry about, keep up on the usual.
2. You and Akiza tag duel against Female Student and
Officer Trudge
Difficulty: 4/5
I had some slight troubles with this, just be careful with Trudge. He
likes to drop a lot of strategy disrupters, seemed like it for me anyway.
3. You and Akiza tag duel against Female Student and
Carly Carmine
Difficulty: 2/5
Very easy, minimal threat. Miracle Stone can be a hinderance, but
it's not too hard to get rid of either it or the Fortune Ladies.
4. You and Akiza tag duel against Female Student and Yusei Fudo (Satellite)
Difficulty: 4/5
I'll admit, I had some really bad hands here. My suggestion is to
watch Yusei's graveyard, and take him out before he gets a chance to set it
up too much, or you'll be in for some trouble when he swarms with synchros.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Crow Hogan's Story
Card: Blackwing - Silverwind the Ascendant x3
S.S.: Blackwings
1. You and Crow tag duel against Female Student and a Satellite Adult
Difficulty: 1/5
I had no issue with this at all. Actually, by the time it was my
turn, Crow had already swarmed them and stomped them into the ground. I had
very little to do myself.
2. You and Crow tag duel against Officer Trudge and Sector Security Officer
Difficulty: 2/5
Same as #1. It was no effort at all.
3. You and Crow tag duel against Carly Carmine and female duelist
Difficulty: 2/5
See #2
4. You and Crow tag duel against Yusei Fudo and Leo
Difficulty: 2/5
See #3
_______________________________________________________________________________
Luna's Story
Card: Ancient Fairy Dragon x3
S.S.: Light / Dark
1. You and Luna tag duel against Leo and Yusei Fudo
Difficulty: 5/5
With them both being able to swarm mid game, and keep field advantage,
(along with Luna being able to... well, do nothing) this was pretty frustrating
for me. I actually ended up paying the 10,000 Dp for the right to edit Luna's
deck early, (I suggest you do the same) because I could not get Simochi Burn
to work with her supposed deck at all. I went with a Light/Dark combo deck,
which you can see in the Partner Edit / Decks I used section. They are not
by any means good, but they were fun to play, and they got me through the
storyline just fine.
2. You and Luna tag duel against two female students
Difficulty: 1/5
I had no trouble with this after editing Luna's deck, if you did the
same then you shouldn't have much trouble here either.
3. You and Luna tag duel against two Satellite duelists
Difficulty: 2/5
Same as #2. It's much easier now that Luna has cards that actually DO
stuff.
4. You and Luna tag duel against Devack and a Child
Difficulty: 2/5
Devack is pretty terrible, and children are low on the ladder as well.
Not much of a challenge to be found here. Stick to your guns.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Leo's Story
Card: Power Tool Dragon x3
S.S.: Morphtronics
1. You and Leo tag duel against Akiza Izinski and Luna
Difficulty: 2/5
Luna seems to slow Akiza down enough to where she isn't much of a fight
so you shouldn't have much trouble here.
2. You and Leo tag duel against Crow Hogan and Satellite duelist
Diffculty: 3/5
I'm sure you know by now that Crow's the problem here. Easy access to
Power Tool Dragon will help you out a lot here, but you still have to look out
for the usual swarming, synchros, and Icarus Attacks.
3. You and Leo tag duel against Misty Tredwell (Dark Signer)
and Officer Trudge (Dark Signer)
Difficulty: 2/5
Nothing major here, you've just edited Leo's deck, and by now you
know what you need to do to make your decks work together.
4. You and Leo tag duel against Jack Atlas and Crow Hogan
Difficulty: 3/5
Two crow fights in one story line? You've got to be joking. See #2.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Kalin Kesler (Dark Signer) Story
Card: Earthbound Immortal Ccapa Apu x3
S.S.: Infernities
1. You and Kalin tag duel against Crow Hogan and Rally Dawson
Difficulty: 3/5
First, a little backdrop. Infernities sacrifice card advantage by
means of dumping their hands for potentially game changing effects, keep that
in mind when dueling. Now, as for your opponent's, Rally can slow Crow down
a lot, which is good for you, but he also has some pretty annoying cards to
play. Try to keep a Vortex, Torrential, or Mirror Force handy for when Crow
swarms, if you can manage to get past his first wave, (and sometimes 2nd)
it really cuts down his resources, and leaves you open to attack.
2. You and Kalin tag duel against Jack Atlas and Luna
Difficulty: 2/5
The weakling slows down the stronger opponent, just like in your
first match, this isn't much of a fight. Wait it out through Luna's stall,
and you'll have no issues.
3. You and Kalin tag duel against Yusei Fudo and Akiza Izinski
Difficulty: 2/5
Akiza is all about a powerful mid/early game, and Yusei tries to set
up his graveyard for a good strong Mid/End game, making these two a fairly
powerful team. However, the obvious hole here is to wait until Akiza swarms,
take her out with a Vortex/Mirror Force/etc., and then bulldoze through
Yusei's weak defense and take them out before Yusei sets up his graveyard
and before Akiza can recover.
4. You duel against Kalin Kesler
Difficulty: 2/5
I actually put Infernities vs. Infernites in this match and came out
on top. Kalin can't seem to pull his deck together on his own, he often
misplays his Dark Tuners, resulting in him never gaining access to his Dark
Syncro, and he always seems to sit with a dead card or two in his hand, so he
doesn't benefit from the effect of the Infernity monsters. Nevertheless, I'd
be a good idea to watch out for both of those aforementioned aspects, and just
try to take him out quickly.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Kalin Kesler's (Enforcers) Story
Card: Thought Ruler Archfiend x3
S.S.: Archfiends
1. You and Kalin tag duel against Crow Hogan and a Young Boy
Difficulty: 2/5
I had expected to have a lot of trouble with this, but I didn't at all
if you happen to start with a Falling Down, save it for use on one of Crow's
more annoying monsters, it really hurts him when uses all his resources to
synchro or swarm and then you steal his biggest guy, it helps you out.
2. You and Kalin tag duel against two Sector Security Officers
Difficulty: 3/5
I'm not really sure if everyone gets the same Security Officers or
not, so I don't really want to go on about strategy, what I will say is I won
this duel on my first attempt, with mild resistance, so I imagine it being
similar for others.
3. You and Kalin tag duel against two Sector Security Officers
Difficulty: 3/5
See #2
4. You and Kalin tag duel against Officer Trudge and Security Officer
Difficulty: 3/5
Trudge isn't very consistant, so he doesn't make much of an impact,
and again, I'm unsure of the Security Officer, so I'm going to focus on
your cards, watch your Life Points if you don't have Pandemonium on the field,
and make sure you maintain some field prescence.
_______________________________________________________________________________
Carly Carmine's Story
Card: 3x of each of the Fortune Fairies, YOu'll recieve 2 of each between
the first 3 events, and 1 of each after the fourth.
S.S.: Spellcasters
1. You and Carly tag duel against Leo and Luna
Difficulty: 3/5
Leo can swarm pretty good, which can lead to an early loss if you
aren't careful, but Luna also has a tendency to slow him down, I didn't have
much trouble as Spellcasters seem to have a lot of Spell/Trap removal to take
care of Luna, and some high ATK monsters to fend off Leo.
2. You and Carly tag duel against Officer Trudge and Mina Simington
Difficulty: 3/5
Well, not much to comment on here. Mina is just bad, and the same
can be said for Trudge. Just stick to the usual, they'll go down.
3. You and Carly tag duel against Yusei Fudo and Rally Dawson
Difficulty: 2/5
Best advice I can give here is to finish them off quickly, before
Yusei gets a chance to be a threat, because Rally certainly isn't.
4. You and Carly tag duel against Jack Atlas and Mina Simington
Difficulty: 4/5
Basically, Mina was trying to hold me off so Jack could set up for
a huge play. It actually worked surprisingly well. My advice is to try to
chisel through Mina's defense/stall, and keep a game changer handy for when
Jack makes his move.

Carly Carmine's (Dark Signer) Story
Card: Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu x3
S.S.: Fortune Ladies
1. You and Carly tag duel against Leo and Crow Hogan
Difficulty: 4/5
These two are a pretty good team, both with fairly decent swarming and
synchroing capabilities. If you start with a mass effect card or two, you're
in good shape. Carly's Future Visions are also very helpful in this duel, you
may want to considder using a few yourself.
2. You and Carly tag duel against Luna and Officer Trudge
Difficulty: 2/5
Aside from the annoyance of Luna's stall, this isn't much of a fight,
consider a Fairy Wind or two to speed up the duel.
3. You and Carly tag duel against Akiza Izinski and Mina Simington
Difficulty: 2/5
For me, Mina ended up slowing down Akiza to the point where I didn't
have much to worry about, I imagine you'll have a similar result.
4. You and Carly tag duel against Jack Atlas and Yusei Fudo
Difficulty: 3/5
Both of these guys have fairly strong mid/end game, so try not to let
it get that far. ;-)

Misty Tredwell's Story
Card: Evil Dragon Ananta x3
S.S.: Reptiles
1. You and Misty Tredwell tag duel against Carly Carmine and Officer Trudge
Difficulty: 3/5
Seeing as how they are both pretty fickle, and don't seem to be
able to pull themselves together.
2. You and Misty Tredwell tag duel against Leo and Luna
Difficulty: 2/5
Your opponent's decks conflict like their personalities, Leo is quick
and to the point, while Luna is patient and slow, so they don't really work
well together at all. Retiles seem to have a stronger Mid/End Game than
anything, so I definitely recommend waiting it out, holding Leo off until
you get to that point where you have a good opening.
3. You and Misty Tredwell tag duel against Jack Atlas and a Kid
Difficulty: 3/5
Unless you're doing this storyline first for some reason, you know
Jack's game, and you know how to deal with him. The kid is not a threat at all.
4. You duel Misty Tredwell
Difficulty: 2/5
Feel free to use any deck you're comfortable with for this one. Either
way, it shouldn't be a problem for you.

Misty Tredwell's (Dark Signer) Story
Card: Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua x3
S.S.: Reptiles
1. You and Misty duel against Officer Trudge and a Security Officer
Difficulty: 3/5
Not too much to worry about, just stick to the usual, and don't let
yourself get backed into a corner.
2. You and Misty duel against Jack Atlas and Mina Simington
Difficulty: 4/5
I said it once, and I'll say it again, these two are a shockingly
good combo. Try to break through whatever stall/defense Mina has, while
keeping a Vortex or other mass effect card handy in case Jack pulls out
one of his huge monsters, but you should be able to finish them off before
it gets to that point.
3. You and Misty tag duel against Kalin Kesler and female duelist
Difficulty: 4/5
I had some issues here. Mainly because of Misty making a lot of
terrible terrible decision, other than that though, I didn't have much trouble
so I suppose all I can say to you is: Hope Misty isn't completely stupid, and
try to dump Reptiles early, (She kept throwing out Evil Dragon Ananta on turn
1 or 2.
4. You and Misty duel against Akiza Izinski and Leo
Difficulty: 5/5
That's right, hey at least it's Leo instead of Crow, right? Right??
Anyway, this is a pain in the butt. You have to fight your way through
anywhere between 2-4 swarms of tons of monsters, some rather powerful very
early in the game. If you manage to survive that insane onslaught, you're in
good shape. See how they don't have any more cards because the overextended on
those last few turns? Get 'em!
