 When Iorek and Lyra go after Asriel, the witches attack. I can't get past them and while shooting the witches Lyra keeps dying, she doesn't even hide, you can't do both, I've died about 45 times, can anyone help please???

 I can catch the first one but the 2nd and 3rd are proving impossible is there any way to get Lyra to run faster or is there a shortcut its driving me mad and its only the beginning of the game...pls help!!
