 How do you defeat the 2 sarge ants after activiating one side of the elevator??? i have tried everything and the gloves wont work to get under the ants....please help

 I am in the hive and i need to go and find melvin again...he is a few levels down...but first i have to defeat 2 sarge ants and i can't do...i have tried for hours and i cant use the gloves to go under them....what do i do????
