 unlike some newer games zelda isn't one that you can just press a few button and you magically have unlimited items and such. try carying a few potions, and aiming your arrows a bit better...

 I know its ****** but I can't beat him! I keep getting like, two seconds in and he kills me with one move. What can I do? Is there something I am missing? (note: this is the first time you fight him, the real genesis not the clones)

 ...you need Epona. Stone tower is the last place before you fight the moon so make sure you've done the other temples. If all else fails listen to what tatl has to say.... she is annoying but can help you.
