Walkthrough - Money Making GuideLost And Found There is a lost and found feature in the town gate. If you talk to Booker and say "Something lost?" he will show you everything currently in the lost and found. The most common items are pitfall seeds and stationery, but clothes and furniture can also be found there. Your character can take as many of the lost and found items as they want and sell them at Nooks for some easy bells. Shaking Trees Every day, one non-fruit tree in each acre of your town will drop 100 bells when you shake it. This amounts to a total of 2,500 bells if you find all twenty-five trees. Additionally, two random non-fruit trees in your town will drop a common piece of furniture, which can either be kept or sold to Tom Nook for a few extra bells. Additionally there are five swarms of bees each day. If you're skillful and/or lucky enough to catch all five of them that's a bonus 12,500 bells each day. This is not a reliable means of making bells, but can be a nice little boon to the desperate. Shells Along the beach (in the southernmost part of town) you will find a random assortment of sea shells. Shells typically don't sell for very much, but they spawn rather quickly and are effectively "free" bells. Simply pick them up and sell to Tom Nook. This is a good way to get a few bells to buy tools at the beginning of the game, or anytime you're just a few bells shy of affording something you want. Alternatively, you can simply pick fruit or do other money making tasks until more shells appear. The first house can be paid off in one day this way. Furniture Furniture can be obtained many different ways, including: the lost and found, the recycle bin, balloon presents, from neighbors, special events, from trees, etc. The common furniture can be sold for a small amount, but special events have special furniture (such as Jingle series) that sell for much more. Jingle is a reindeer wearing a Santa outfit who will appear in your town on Dec 24th. He usually only gives out one piece of the Jingle furniture, players can trick him by changing their accessory in order to receive more. The Jingle furniture sells for 12,240 bells each. Also during the winter, if you make a perfect snowman you will get a piece of the Snowman furniture (you also can get a snowman which is part of the Snow set). The snowman furniture sells for 8,888 bells each. You also can go to Bunny Day to dig up all the eggs (if you have more than one player in your town they have their own eggs) and give the tin foil to Zipper T to get the Egg furniture, which sells for 9,000 bells. If you save the candy you can go to Halloween to make even more money. You need to find Jack, the one who doesn't chase you, and give him candy. In return he will give you Spooky furniture that sells for 10,310 bells. During Thanksgiving, you can get a fork and knife from Tortimer and give it to Franklin, who hides behind signs, houses and trees. Franklin will give you the Harvest furniture, which sells for 3,333 bells each (1,200 for the wallpaper and flooring). During the month of November, there are five hidden mushrooms in your town each day. There are four mushrooms found at the base of trees. The other is actually a piece of Mushroom furniture. They sell from 1,800 bells to 3,000 bells (excluding the wallpaper and flooring). But there is the additional rare mushroom, which is buried like a fossil, and will stay hidden until you find it, that sells for 16,000 bells. On February 15th, there is a Festivale where you can get four pieces of candy, a certain color each time, and give it to Pav for some Pav furniture which sells for 12,000 bells each (1,800 bells for the flooring and wallpaper). Go here to find out how to get candy from villagers. Money Rock Each day, a random rock in your town is designated as the "money rock". This rock, when struck with a shovel, will drop bells. This is a healthy little boost of money each day, as on most days you can get 8,100 bells without much effort. See the money rock page for details and techniques for maximizing the income from the rock. Fossils and gyroids Every day, "stars" appear on the ground. These fissures mark items buried in the soil, which can be dug up using a shovel. These items can be one of three different items: A fossil, a gyroid, or a pitfall seed. Fossils appear in town every day: If all fossils are found each day, three new fossils will appear every day. They can be donated to the museum as part of their collection, or sold for bells. As the museum will only accept one of each fossil type, extra fossils can be sold to Tom Nook. Different fossils sell for various amounts, up to 6,000 bells. Gyroids only appear in town on the day after rain or snowfall in town or the city. If it does rain or snow, three gyroids will appear. If they are not used as furniture, gyroids can be stored with Brewster as part of a collection, or sold for bells. As with the museum, Brewster only accepts one of each gyroid type so extras could be sold even if the player does collect gyroids. All gyroids sell for 828 bells each. Pitfall seeds do not have a monetary value, and therefore cannot be sold for bells. One pitfall seed appears buried each day. Bugs Bugs are an excellent way to make bells. The bugs that can appear in your town depend on the month, the time of day, and occasionally the weather. All bugs are caught using a net. As with fossils, bugs can be donated to the museum (only one of each type) or sold to Tom Nook. Bugs have variable selling prices, up to 12,000 bells. As bugs are seasonal, and the value of bug hunting differs based on the time of year. The summer months feature a wider range of bugs with many being very valuable, whereas the winter months have as little as eight available, most of which are low-value rendering bug hunting a poor form of income. Bugs can appear in numerous habitats depending on their species: A good type of bug for money making are the tree-dwelling beetles. These are giant beetles that appear on trees, which are very easy to spot, and even the most common sell for 1,000 each. The giant beetle and the rainbow stag beetle are both "semi-rare" on summer nights. Each sells for 10,000 bells. Rare butterflies can also be a decent source of income. They are found on warm summer days, and some of the more valuable butterflies, such as the Birdwing, can sell for 3,000. Fish Fish, like bugs, constantly appear in town and are also based on season and time of day. They can also be donated to the museum (maximum one per species) or sold to Nook. Fish are found in rivers, the ocean, and in small ponds located around town, and are caught using a fishing rod. Fish also have various sell prices, up to 15,000 bells. Being seasonal, fishing for income also has differing yields depending on the month. However fishing is more forgiving than bug hunting during the winter months: For the winter months, "ocean fishing" typically offers more high-value fish that are easily recognized. The "large" shadow size can only be one of two fish: An olive flounder (800 bells) or a football fish (2,500). The smallest "tiny" shadow size can only be a sea butterfly (1,000) bells and the largest (for the season) shadow size can only be a tuna (7,000) unless it is raining/snowing in which case it may instead be a coelacanth (15,000). "River" fishing during the winter months is typically not as profitable, though the largest shadow size is always a stringfish (15,000 bells). Fruit Each town has a "native fruit". Fruit trees that the town starts with will only be of this fruit. By trading with friends over Wi-Fi, or exchanging letters with animal neighbors, players can obtain fruit not native to their town. Whereas a native fruit sells to Nook for 100 bells, a foreign fruit will sell for 500 bells. A full load of 15 foreign fruit sells for 7,500 bells at Nooks. This is one of the best ways to make money! Fruit trees will produce three fruits. After the fruit is shaken off the tree, it will sprout fruit again three days later. As the minimal "perfect town" requires 300 trees (12 trees in 8 acres, 10 trees in 17 acres), if all of these trees are foreign fruit trees, the town's fruit can be harvested for 133,000 bells per day. It takes about 1/2 hr to pick and sell to Nook 75,000 bells worth of "foreign" fruit. Coconuts act similar to foreign fruits, though they can never be a town's native fruit (and are thus always worth 500 bells). A palm tree will only produce two coconuts every three days. Coconuts can occasionally be found on the beach. Turnips On Sunday mornings (6:00am to 12:00pm), Joan can be found wandering around town, selling both white and red turnips. She sells white turnips (in multiples of ten) for a random value from 90-110 bells, and one red turnip seed bag for 1,000 bells. White turnips: Tom Nook is the other end of "the stalk market". He buys white turnips for a value that differs over time. Each morning (12:00am - 12:00pm) and afternoon (12:00pm - 12:00am) on all days except Sunday the value of white turnips will change. These changes can be one of a few "patterns" (typically "always decreasing", "small spike", "small Monday morning spike", "large spike" and "random") and recognizing the trends of each pattern will allow the player to maximize their profit (or minimize their losses) when trading in white turnips. Nook prices typically range from 30 to 650 bells. Note: Huge profits can be made when two towns are used. One town has Nook buying them and the other town has Joan selling them. Travel between towns buying and selling. If Joan is selling for 100 bells and Nook buying them for 600 bells then a full load of 15 bunches of 100 turnips results in 750,000 bell profit on one trip! Red turnips: Red turnips require planting and then watering every day. They grow daily and can be dug up with a shovel and sold for a value based on their size. They need to be buried for at least 3 days to turn a profit on the cost of a seed, and if buried for six or more days will sell for 16,000 bells. However if a red turnip goes a full day without being watered, they will wilt and be rendered worthless unless watered by a silver can, which resets them and starts the growth process from scratch (as if they were a newly-planted seed) the following day. Letters: Another way to make bells is to write a letter to each villager and include a gift. The easiest and cheapest gift to include are seashells, such as sand dollars and porcelettas. The villagers will send a letter back to you, also with a gift attached. You can sell the gift at Nooks for a decent profit. Drastic Methods to make Bells Bugs Cut down all the trees but coconut trees near the beach. Remove the flowers to prevent butterflies from generating. There are about 25 bugs scattered across the entire town. Doing this drastic method will insure that during summer (August) after 7pm the rare expensive bugs are on all the coconut trees. These bugs are all 6,000 bells or more each. It is easy to get 100,000 bells for each full load of rare bugs. Time Traveling Fruit trees take three days to produce fruit again. Time travel forward three days and harvest again. Time travel to special events such as the Bunny Day egg hunt (April 12, 2009; April 4, 2010). Collect the furniture and sell to Nook. Save all the candy and go to Halloween. Collect the furniture and sell to Nook. Similarly at other events, collect the furniture and sell to Nook. Duplicating Items There is a method of duplication that can be done by traveling to another town via wi-fi. Example: One player gets a Royal Crown and repeatedly duplicates it eventually having fifteen for each pocket space, ten as presents in letters, and wearing one. This results in twenty-six total Royal Crowns. These can then be sold to Nook for 300,000 bells each (7,800,000 bells total for one very full load). ABD Duplication The steps to ABD Duplication- Step 1: Deposit any amount of money into the ABD in your town's Town Hall. Step 2: Go to any friend's town. Step 3: Withdraw as much money as you want from the ABD in your friend's Town Hall. Step 4a: Have your friend deposit it in their account, so they can finalize the "transaction" on their end. Don't worry, when they pick up the bells it means nothing, you will still have the money after you reset, but your friend will get all the money you left outside the Town Hall! Step 4b: OR If you want to double your own money every time, just have your friend leave it there (in front of the town hall) until you get back and you can pick it up, either way should get you basically the same amount of money in the long run if you and your friend are being fair (switching off often). Step 5: Go to leave your friend's town through the gate. When Copper says ''Well then...'' Press Home on the Wiimote and hit Reset. (You can also press the Reset button on the Wii) You will not see Resetti when you get back into the game. DS Suitcase trick Double the bells in the ABD account! Travel between two ACCF towns via the DS Suitcase. First empty your pockets, remove gifts from letters, and also remove hats and glasses. Assume all will be lost. Deposit money into the ABD. Take an ABD card in your pocket. Use the DS Suitcase option and travel. Restart the game as the same character. You can not return, the game will not let you. Now go to the other town with the DS Suitcase. Go to the ABD machine in the postoffice and withdraw all your money. Drop it on the ground outside if you need more space. Completely empty your account. Drop all your bells. Leave town with nothing in your pockets or mail. Turn off your DS. You can not return to your town anyway. Use a character in the second town and deposit all the bells in the ABD. Now do the same thing and travel to the first town with the new character. There are two copies of the ABD account. One in the original town and one on the DS suitcase. Hacking There is a method of hacking that gives you the maximum amount of bells directly. Once your bank is full there is no reason to ever sell anything because there is no place for your bells. Duplicating Money There is a glitch on Wi-fi where you can duplicate money, flowers, furniture, fruit, tools, and practically anything that can go into your pockets. First, you have whatever you want to duplicate in your pockets before you go to your friend's town. Then go to a friend's town and drop all the items you want to duplicate right in front of the gate (it doesn't matter where you drop it, it's just easier to drop it there). Next, talk to Copper and ask to go home, while you press the HOME button multiple times. For some reason, just as you are about to leave, the home menu appears and if you click RESET (it won't harm your game and Mr. Resetti won't appear) you will be at the menu screen. If you go back on, you will still have all the items you previously had before you went to your friend's town, and the items you dropped will still be there in your friend's town. This is a glitch and will not hurt your game, or the Wii. Now, you need to have money to start with (at least 100,000 bells) if you want to make a profit. See the duplication page for more info. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQnEBZl6jHMInterest There is a bank at the town hall. Money deposited will earn 0.5% per month (6% per yr). One has to deposit bells in one month and start playing in a latter month to receive interest. A letter will be sent telling the amount of interest earned up to the maximum allowed: 99,999 bells. The interest is calculated for one month and multiplied by the number of months since last time playing. When one month interest is calculated the program truncates the amount to nearest integer (no rounding of the fractional part). Note: this kind of time traveling will result in huge numbers of weeds! It takes about 5 minutes to advance two times. Trick: Time travel from the last day of one month to the first day of the next month - result one month interest. Even trickier is to set the date to first day of month. Set time to 5:59 AM start game and wait for clock to go past 6 AM (new day in game). Trees will advance one day, weeds will grow and interest will be deposited. Then save and reset Wii clock to 5:59 AM and repeat. After ten times you will need to advance the time to receive and empty your mailbox. If you have less than 3 million in the bank then it is better to plant lots of foreign fruit. 1.5 million pays 7,500 bells for one month interest and that is the same as one load of foreign fruit. 19,999,800+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 1 month. 10,000,000+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 2 months. 6,666,600+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 3 months. 5,000,000+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 4 months. 4,000,000+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 5 months. 3,333,400+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 6 months. 2,857,200+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 7 months. 2,500,000+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 8 months. 2,222,200+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 9 months. 2,000,000+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 10 months. 1,818,200+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 11 months. 1,666,800+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 1 yr. 833,400+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 2 yrs. 555,600+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 3 yrs. 416,800+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 4 yrs. 333,400+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 5 yrs. 277,800+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 6 yrs. 238,200+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 7 yrs. 208,400+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 8 yrs. 185,200+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 9 yrs. 166,800+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 10 yrs. 83,400+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 20 yrs. 55,600+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 30 yrs. 50,000+ bells required to get 99,999 bells for 35 yrs. |
