Crash: Mind over Mutant Q&A

I have the mind control dude with the target laser, and i need to climb the purple blocks and am not sure how to get up the tall one.

I am still at level one trying to collect all th tools. I am on tool number four and have managed to push the red button on the moutain. The map shows that I am near the tool but if it is behind the ship I do not know how to get there.
