Wedge will tell Ceodore to talk to the other Red Wings. By talking to the others, you'll learn that Ceodore is going to the Isle for his initiation trial to become a knight. Shortly after talking to everyone, the airship will land on the Adamant Isle. It's a small island with a single village and a cave. Head to the village. /----------------------------------******-----------------------------------\ | MYTHRIL CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore \ | ITEMS: Tent, Potion, Ruby Ring | | SUNDRIES: Potion 30 Phoenix Down 100 | | Gold Needle 400 Maiden's Kiss 60 | | Eyedrops 30 Antidote 40 | | Tent 100 | | WEAPONSMITH: Broadsword 200 Longsword 450 | | ARMORER: Bronze Shield 100 Bronze Helm 150 | | Bronze Armor 600 | | HIDDEN ITEM LOCATIONS: | | TENT - patch of grass on the right side of the village | | POTION - patch of grass in the upper right corner of the village | | RUBY RING - patch of grass above the Weapon Shop | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ As you enter, Biggs will tell you that the object of the trial is to obtain the Knight's Emblem from the Adamant Isle Grotto and that you can't enter until the moon is full. From the current moon's position, staying at the Inn will make the moon full. However, explore the village first. You can either keep the Ruby Ring, which ups your magic defense a little and protects against the pig spell, or you can talk to the pig near the Weapon and Armor shops. The ring actually belongs to the pig and he'll give you a 500 gil reward for finding it for him. talk to the pig again to see him and hist friends dance. Use the money to buy better equipment, then head to the Inn. Stay the night and the moon will become full. Leave the Inn and a soldier will come tell you that Biggs is waiting at the grotto. Exit Mythril and head over to the cave. /----------------------------------******-----------------------------------\ | ADAMANT ISLE GROTTO - 1F CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore, Biggs, Wedge \ | ITEMS: Potion, Tent, Ether, Phoenix Down | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Biggs is waiting for you. Talk to him, then get the contents of the 4 chests as instructed (POTION, TENT, ETHER, PHOENIX DOWN). Now talk to Biggs again. Biggs and Wedge will join your party. First thing you should do is take Biggs' equipment and give it to Ceodore (he's got better stuff, and Ceodore will need it more than Biggs will). Talk to the mini and he'll move so you can get to the stairs. Go down them to begin the first dungeon. /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | ADAMANT ISLE GROTTO - B1 CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore, Biggs, Wedge \ | ITEMS: Potion, Tent, Ether | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Go up and you'll encounter your first battle (assuming you didn't do any fighting outside). The battle is in a fixed spot, so there is no avoiding it. Wedge will explain how the moon's phase affects your fighting abilities. After defeating the Goblins, continue along the path to another fixed battle. Ceodore sits this one out as Biggs and Wedge explain Bands. Follow Wedge's instructions to have Biggs and Wedge learn the Vibro Edge Band. Go down and get the POTION from the chest, then head right and up some steps to get a TENT from another chest. Continue along to find a 3rd chest and the stairs leading to the next floor. /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | ADAMANT ISLE GROTTO - B2 CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore \ | ITEMS: Phoenix Down, Bomb Fragment, Eye Drops | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ As you enter this floor, Biggs and Wedge will leave the party, leaving Ceodore to finish the trial on his own. Go up and through the door to find a save spot. Use a tent to recover and change the phase of the moon to Waning (making physical attacks stronger), then save. Go up more and exit the save room. Walk left through the wall between the rocks and grab the PHOENIX DOWN from the chest. Then go back and follow the main path over to the steps to the next floor (grabbing a BOMB FRAGMENT and EYE DROPS from 2 chests along the way). /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | ADAMANT ISLE GROTTO - B3 CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore \ | ITEMS: Bronze Hourglass, Tent, Antarctic Wing, Echo Herbs, Iron Gloves | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Go down and get the BRONZE HOURGLASS from the chest, then head right, across a bridge, to another chest containing a TENT. From there go straight down to yet another chest (ANTARCTIC WIND). Go back up a little, then head left to another chest (ECHO HERBS). Going down from that chest, you'll see an indentation in the wall that seems to be an obvious hidden path. It'll lead to another chest containing IRON GLOVES. Return to the main path and enter the door to find another save spot. Do what you need to do, then exit the room and go down to the stairs to the next floor. /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | ADAMANT ISLE GROTTO - B4 CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore \ \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ This is the bottom floor. Go up and grab the chest. You'll be attacked by a SAND WORM. SAND WORM STRATEGY: Don't waste items or magic since this battle can't be won. After a few attacks, the Sand Worm will use Whirlwind and the 1st phase of the battle will end. Biggs and Wedge will come check on Ceodore, who will tell them it's his fight. He'll re-enter the battle and use his AWAKEN ability. He'll now be able to win the battle (just attack and heal when needed). After winning, you'll get the Knight's Emblem and officially learn the AWAKEN ability. Biggs and Wedge will rejoin the party, and you'll have to backtrack your way out of the grotto. When you reach the top floor, Biggs will leave the party. Exit the cave and save. You can go back to Mythril if you need to shop (the Innkeeper will just talk to you, so no resting... but don't waste a Tent). When you're ready, board the airship. /----------------------------------******-----------------------------------\ | ABOARD THE RED WING AIRSHIP CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore, Biggs, Wedge \ \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Examine the pot to restore your HP and MP, then talk to the soldier. He'll ask if you're ready to head back to Baron. If you're done on Adamant Isle, then say "yes". On the way back to Baron, the ship will be attacked by Belphegors. After defeating the Belphegors, the ship will be surrounded by enemies and a soldier will mention smoke coming from Baron. /----------------------------------******-----------------------------------\ | BARON CASTLE CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Cecil \ | ITEMS: Tent, Decoy, Phoenix Down | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Cecil and Rosa are in the throne room of Baron Castle. A solder storms in and tells them hordes of monsters are coming. Cecil will follow the soldier out to check on the situation. You now control Cecil. Soldiers block most of the directions, so go the only way you can. Cecil will be attack by 2 Gargoyles. After beating them, go up and press the barely visible button to open a secret door. Get the 3 chests (TENT, DECOY, PHOENIX DOWN), then go up the stairs. A few more steps and you'll be attack by a Zu and 3 Cocktrice. Defeat them and continue to a save spot. You'll get random encounters from here on, so be ready. Continue onward to the tower. /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | BARON CASTLE - EAST TOWER CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Cecil \ | ITEMS: Hermes Sandals, Hi-Potion, Red Fang, Ether, Remedy (x2), | | Bacchus's Wine, Echo Herbs, X-Potion, Heavenly Wrath, 500 gil, | | Bomb Crank | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ 1F - Grab the 3 chests (HERMES SANDALS, HI-POTION, RED FANG) you can reach. To get the 4th chest (ETHER) go down the stairs, then back up them. B1 - Grab a REMEDY from the rightmost pot. You can keep going right to find stairs leading to B2, but there's nothing much down there. Return to the 1st floor of the tower and use the stairs going up 2F - There is a BACCHUS'S WINE in the bottom middle pot and ECHO HERBS in the top right pot. There is also 2 chests (X-POTION, HEAVENLY WRATH). Get everything, then continue upstairs. 3F - Here you'll find a girl being attacked by a monster. Get the 2 chests you can reach (REMEDY, 500 GIL), then talk to the monster to start a battle with an Ogre. Defeat the Ogre and the girl will run for safety. Now grab the remaining chest (BOMB CRANK) and then backtrack to the main foyer of the castle. /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | BARON CASTLE CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Cecil, Rosa, Cid \ \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ The leftmost guard will be gone, so head towards the steps he was blocking. The guard will enter, then keel over from battle wounds. The Centaur Knight that did the damage will now attack you. Defeat the creature, then go up. A little further and Rosa will join the party. Exit the room, and you'll see a 2nd moon has returned. Now go up and Cid will join you. You can enter the West Tower (the left door) but there is nothing in it aside from Cecil, Rosa, and Ceodore's room (whoopee!!). Enter the right door (the one Cid came out of) to continue. Use the save spot, then go up the stairs. You'll have to fight a series of battles now. First up, Belphegor x2. Next, you'll have to fight an Ahriman and 3 Spirits. Last is a Strato Avis plus 3 Cockatrice. Make it through those battles and Cecil will ask Cid to take Rosa and run. Reluctantly, the pair leave your party and run...just in time for Cecil to greet a Mysterious Girl riding Bahamut! Without even introducing herself, she sends Bahamut to attack Cecil. There isn't much you can do against the mighty Bahamut. He'll countdown to his Megaflare attack, which will defeat Cecil and end the battle. /----------------------------------******-----------------------------------\ | ABOARD THE RED WING AIRSHIP CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore \ \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ The focus switches back to Ceodore. He gets the feeling his father is in trouble. The airship then goes out of control and crashes. We now get a glimpse at part of Rydia's Tale, where the Mysterious Girl appears in Feymarch and turns Leviathan and Ashura to stone. Edge sees the Tower of Bab-il has returned. As do the Dwarves in the underworld. /----------------------------------******-----------------------------------\ | MEADOW CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore, Hooded Man \ \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ Back to Ceodore... the airship has crashed and everyone appears to be dead except Ceodore (which you'll find out after trying to speak to all six of them). Biggs regains conciousness long enough for you to speak to him. He orders Ceodore to return to Baron. Save at the save spot a couple space to the right, then head let. Monsters will appear and you'll be attacked. Defeat the monsters, then you'll be attacked by a Flamehound. This is another impossible battle. Just survive for a little while and a Hooded Man will defeat the monster. He'll tell Ceodore there is a way to Baron in Mysidia, to the west. Then he'll join your party. Do as the guy says and head west to Mysidia. /----------------------------------******-----------------------------------\ | MYSIDIA CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore, Hooded Man, Black Mage, White Mage \ | INN: 50 | | SUNDRIES: Potion 30 Phoenix Down 100 | | Gold Needle 400 Maiden's Kiss 60 | | Echo Herbs 50 Eyedrops 30 | | Antidote 40 Tent 100 | | WEAPONSMITH: Longsword 450 Rod 100 | | Ice Rod 220 Flame Rod 380 | | Staff 160 Healing Staff 480 | | Bow 220 Iron Arrows 50 | | ARMORER: Leather Cap 100 Feathered Cap 330 | | Leather Clothing 200 Gaia Gear 500 | | Iron Armlet 100 | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ As you enter, the Hooded Man will tell you to go to the Hall of Prayer to find someone to unlock the seal to the Devil's Road. Go ahead and explore the town first. When you're ready, head to the building at the north end of town. Here you'll find Porom, the white mage of Mysidia. She'll call a Black Mage and a White Mage to help you with the seal... and the journey through the Devil's Road. Exit the Hall of Prayer and go to the plain building on the right side of town. The door is locked, but the White Mage will release the seal, allowing you to enter. Enter the building and step on the white circle to be teleported to the Devil's Road. /----------------------------------******-----------------------------------\ | DEVIL'S ROAD CEODORE'S TALE | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ /CHARACTERS: Ceodore, Hooded Man, Black Mage, White Mage \ | ITEMS: Bomb Fragment, Phoenix Down, Sage's Surplice, Silver Apple, Ether, | | Echo Herbs, Hi-Potion | \---------------------------------------------------------------------------/ This dungeon is a maze of teleporters. Start by stepping on the teleporter above you. Go up and through the wall on the left to get a chest (BOMB FRAGMENT). Try to avoid the glowing red portions of the floor... they damage you. Step on the only teleporter to continue. This time you have a choice of two white circles. The bottom/left one takes you back to the entrance, so use the top/right one instead. No choice again. Step on the circle to continue. Follow the path up to another transporter. Once again, you have two choices. The left transporter will take you back a few sections (back to the last time there were two teleporters), so choose the right one. There is only a single teleporter this time, but before using it you can walk through the left wall (at the top) to get a PHOENIX DOWN from a chest. Now use the teleporter. There are 2 circles in this room, plus a chest containing a SAGE'S SURPLICE. From the chest, go straight left to find another walk-through wall, which leads to a SILVER APPLE. Now, the top circles leads to another corridor. Go right to find another teleporter. Here you'll find 3 chests (ETHER, ECHO HERBS, HI-POTION), plus a lone teleporter, which will lead back to the last room with 2 teleporters. Take the top one again. This time, go down and use that teleporter. Keep going from teleporter to teleporter and you'll eventually reach a save spot. Rest, save, then continue to the left. In this room, the white circles will open and close paths. This idea is to get over to the top left corner of the room. Each time you'll have a choice of 2 circles to step on. Use this order: left, left, top, bottom, top, bottom, left |
