You'll be placing the various items in the space between a film projector and a film screen on which the shadows will be cast. One thing to remember is that there are multiple ways to solve many of the puzzles. Possibly the most challenging part of the game is mastering the controls which allow you to move and manipulate the objects. There are two controller options when playing Shadowplay: the Wii remote with nunchuk and the Wii remote with the Motion Plus attachment. CONTROLS: A BUTTON (Nunchuk): Selects an object; hold down the A button to move the object with the Wii Remote. Deselect an object by pointing at an empty space and pressing A. A BUTTON (Motion Plus): Selects an object; hold down the A button to move the object with the Wii Remote. Deselect an object by pointing at an empty space and pressing A. B BUTTON (Nunchuck): Point near the edge of the screen and hold down B to change the camera angle (in play view only). B BUTTON (Motion Plus): Used to grab an object and tilt or rotate it with the remote. Press B again when you're satisfied with the object's position. CONTROL PAD (Nunchuk): Press down on the control pad to zoom out from the canvas; press up to zoom in. Note: You can only change views if you have no objects selected. CONTROL PAD (Motion Plus): Press the up and down directional keys on the pad to move an object closer to and away from the canvas. CONTROL STICK (Nunchuk): Rotates the selected object. Hold down Z to switch to a different axis on which to rotate the object. Hold down C and use the control stick to move the object closer to and further from the canvas. PLUS (+) BUTTON: Brings up the pause menu, from which you can restart a puzzle, access the game options and game credits, or quit a puzzle. MINUS (-) BUTTON: Locks and unlocks an object. Very useful for avoiding frustration resulting from accidentally moving an object you spent a considerable amount of time positioning just right. TWO (2) BUTTON: Un-does last action. ONE (1) BUTTON: Replaces an object back onto the film strip. THE FILM STRIP: This is essentially a rack on which your objects will sit. Eventually you'll need to scroll down with the control pad to see all the objects being held by the strip. THE FILM REEL: This shows how well you're doing. As soon as you reach the bronze ranking, you can end the puzzle. However, you can fine-tune your shadows to score higher with the silver and gold rankings. THE CLAPBOARD: Shows the puzzle timer and allows you to end the puzzle once you reach a minimum score. When you start a puzzle, a silhouette appears on the canvas--this is called the Shadow Goal; it's the shape you'll try to duplicate with shadows cast by the objects you're given to work with. The puzzles get harder and harder as you progress in the game, but with more objects at your disposal you're free to solve puzzles in more than one way. In this guide, I'll tell you how I solved each puzzle, and I based each puzzle's difficulty rating on both how challenging it was for me to figure out how to use each object as well as how hard it was to achieve a gold ranking. You'll notice when going for the gold that the game tends to favor over-filling the shadow goal; in other words, don't leave any blank spaces, even if it means shading outside of the lines. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Training | PUZZLE: The Basics | DIFFICULTY: 0/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o [T1] This tutorial will show you how to use some of the basic actions. Use the A button to select the basketball and move it around the canvas. Use A again to deselect the object. Select the basketball again and use the control stick to rotate it. Now hold down Z and rotate the ball on the Z-axis. Hold down C and move the ball in and out. Note: the eight training puzzles don't count toward your total puzzle count on the profile menu. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Training | PUZZLE: The Camera | DIFFICULTY: 0/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Another tutorial; this one covers manipulating the camera. Point near the edge of the screen and hold B to change the camera angle. Press down on the control pad to zoom out, then left or right to return to the play view. Zoom in by pressing up on the control pad, then left or right to return to play view. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Training | PUZZLE: Interface | DIFFICULTY: 0/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Simply position the basketball to match the circle shape. The only thing you'll really need to do is move it into position and away from the canvas to get the right size. If you don't like having the timer going while you play, access the game options from the pause menu and turn it off. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Training | PUZZLE: Cylinder | DIFFICULTY: 0/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Rotate the can on its Z-axis and move it out till it's the right size, then move it into position. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Training | PUZZLE: Pyramid | DIFFICULTY: 1/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The toughest part is getting the right rotation on the pyramid to match that right-hand angle. You'll need to do a lot of subtle manipulation with both the regular and Z-axis to score a gold ranking. Slightly tricky but not impossible. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Training | PUZZLE: More Controls | DIFFICULTY: 0/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The last tutorial puzzle. This one goes through extra controls used in the game. Select the pyramid and use the - button to lock and unlock it. Use the 2 button to undo your last move, then use the 1 button to place the pyramid back on the film strip. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Training | PUZZLE: Lollipop | DIFFICULTY: 1/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The first real puzzle! It's not hard to figure out that the bowl will be the candy portion and the candy cane the stick. Make sure the hook portion of the cane isn't aimed at the space where you'll need to place the bowl. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Training | PUZZLE: UFO | DIFFICULTY: 1/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Your last bit of training is another easy puzzle. Flip that pie upside-down and rotate it so the notch points upward. Now put the ball in place to make the top of the UFO. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Dragonfly | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o [T2] To get the shape of the head and body just right, you'll need to tilt the bowling pin toward the canvas slightly. Use the butter knives as the wings; you'll have to do a little rotating to place them correctly. Finish off your dragonfly with a tail provided by the pen. I scored a gold on this one with quite a few mismatched borders. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Spider | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o I started by getting the spider's legs just right. Position one garden pick prongs forward and to the upper left to make the first set. The larger set are made by placing the other garden pick the opposite way, handle forward and prongs to the lower right. The garden pick handles will be almost parallel to each other when you've got it right. Now create the head using the lemon and the body with a well-angled watermelon. Finish off your masterpiece using the clothes pin as the teeth. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Butterfly | DIFFICULTY: 3/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Turn the soda bottle upside down and tip the opening away from the canvas to make the body and head. Place the wing nuts back to back in an X formation to make the proximal portions of the wings. You'll need to tilt the nuts a bit to fill in the shapes correctly. Now criss cross the spoons to make the rest of the wings, then place the clothes pin upside down for the antennae. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Thorn Bug | DIFFICULTY: 5/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Begin this puzzle by tackling the task of forming the legs with the garden pick. I achieved the right shape with the prong points toward the canvas. The bug's body can be formed by placing the woman's shoe on its side with the heel on the left and facing toward you. Now tilt the toe forward and up slightly to get the right shape. Now comes the fun part... To make the front end of the bug, place the spoon near the shoe with the spoon handle to the right, up and slightly toward the canvas. The backside of the spoon bowl will fit the rounded part of the bug above the heel of the shoe if you angle the spoon just right. The spoon handle should align with the front half of the thorn. Now put the wrench out in a similar manner with the handle forming the rear part of the thorn and the larger part of the wrench head facing downward. This should create the curve of the back part of the thorn if done correctly. Now just fill in the holes with the banana. I placed it facing the canvas and at a diagonal angle in between the spoon and wrench. Scoring a gold will likely take some adjusting. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Snail | DIFFICULTY: 4/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o For the tail, turn the paper plane upside down and point it left and very slightly toward the canvas. If done right, this will fill in the angle on the snail's underside. The basketball will fill in the majority of the shell; the lemon magnified will fit the head if angled with a pointy end up and to the right. Lay the salt shaker on its side, magnify it and aim the top at the lemon to fill in the neck area. Now manipulate the keys to form the antennae; be sure to cover as much space as possible with them. Don't sweat it if you aren't able to fill the shell completely; gold ranking is still possible this way. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Stick Insect | DIFFICULTY: 4/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Use the cane for the body; you'll need to foreshorten it quite a bit and hide the hook. I tilted the end pointing to the right away from the canvas to make it a bit thicker than the other end, then used a butter knife for the tail and to cover the portion of the body that the cane didn't. I used the carrot for the hind-most leg and butter knives for the rest. The two snowboards will make the antennae if you turn them sideways and face them to the insect's front. They have to be angled strategically to create the rounded portion on the ends while being narrow and short enough to fit the goal. Try tilting the bottom ends of the boards away from the canvas. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Caterpillar | DIFFICULTY: 4/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Matching up those garden picks for the legs can be time-consuming. I placed them with the prongs aimed away from the canvas. If you number the legs from left to right, the use one pick to make legs 1, 2, 4 and 6, one for 3, 5, 8 and 10, and the third pick for legs 7, 9, 11 and 12. Now just enlarge the two bananas to make the body and use the baseball for the head. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Bee | DIFFICULTY: 3/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Enlarge the football and tip the top away from the canvas to make the abdomen. Turn a wing nut upside down and enlarge it to create the bottom half of the thorax and wings; do the same with the other wing nut upright. The head is made using the baseball. It's possible to get gold without adding the antennae on, but they can be made using the two can openers, turned sideways and foreshortened with the handles aimed at the canvas. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Ladybug | DIFFICULTY: 4/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The two front legs can be made using the arms of the corkscrew. To create the shape of the body, face a bowl toward you and to the left and enlarge it. Do the same with the other bowl and shrink it for the head, and add a wing nut for antennae. The rest of the legs can be made with the tips of can openers turned sideways, but you may need to rotate them a bit to get the shadows thick enough to score the gold. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Insects | PUZZLE: Mantis | DIFFICULTY: 5/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Use the two footballs to create the abdomen, both rounded off and one enlarged to make the tail end. The hind legs can be made using the arms of the corkscrew; getting the shape perfectly is a bit of a challenge. The middle legs are made using the garden pick turned so the handle is foreshortened and aimed at the canvas. Use an upside-down wing nut for the head and the soda bottle to create the thorax. For the tips of the front legs, I used sideways clothes pins, foreshortened a bit. The next sections I made with foreshort- ened candy canes, and the base proximal portions I made using butter knife handles. The pizza and bowling pin can be used to fill in any missing areas. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Air Balloon | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o [T3] Create the large portion of the balloon with the basketball. To get the basket shape, you'll need to place the picnic basket, handle-up, right up next to the canvas. Zoom in to check your work. From there it's just a matter of using the bowl for the balloon opening and the two scepters for the ropes. Your ropes will have to be a little thicker than the shadow goal since things will get crowded up near the canvas, but you should still be able to achieve a gold. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Blimp | DIFFICULTY: 4/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o A football end will fit the front of the blimp perfectly, and the salt shaker top the back end. For the rest of the balloon portion, I used the iron with the hot part facing you and the point angled to the right and slightly toward the canvas. For the window, bring the potato slicer close to the canvas, then use the two pencil sharpeners to fill in the areas to the left and right of it. To make the rounded front portions of the fins, place the battle axe with the handle aimed left, then bring the handle toward you slightly. Finally, complete the fins using the two playing cards. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Truck | DIFFICULTY: 5/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Make the rear wheels using the headphones with the band tilted slightly up and to the right; the phone on the left will be closer to the canvas than the other if you have them placed correctly. The front wheel is made using the baseball, and the exhaust pipe on top of the truck is formed by pointing the scepter at the canvas and tilting its head slightly upward. For the window, place the potato slicer and angle it so that the handle on the left is closer to the canvas than the right-hand one. The truck's cabin is made using the notebook, and the front portion is made by laying a playing card flat with the wide end to the canvas, then tipping that end upward. Finish your shadow by placing the pen as the tail end. Try adjusting the headphones if you're having trouble obtaining gold status. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Scooter | DIFFICULTY: 7/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Flip the snowboard over and tilt it to form the base for the scooter. Make the rear wheel using the bowl, and the front wheel using the pot, handle turned to the left and upward. To make the seat, start with placing the pie for the top part. The two bumps on the rear of the scooter can be made with a rounded end of the starfruit and the telephone receiver, completely foreshortened into a bell shape. Use the notebook to fill in the rest of the seat section. The banana will make the steering column; you'll need to angle the pointy end to the top and toward the canvas to get the shape just right. For the handle bars, use the scepter tipped head away from the canvas for the top part, the carrot foreshortened for the left bar and the potato slicer angled to fit the right section. The spoon can be added to fill in any holes in the handlebar portion. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Race Car | DIFFICULTY: 5/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Start by placing the pilon, cone toward canvas, at the rear of the car and angle it to the right to fit the shadow goal. Now use the paper airplane, angled just right so that a long edge fits the slanted top rear and the short edge fits the slanted top front. This will fill a big chunk of the back portion of the vehicle. Use the two baseballs for the wheels, and the pencil sharpener, enlarged, for the very front of the car. I used the banana for the upward protrusion above the paper airplane, and the potato slicer turned handle-toward-canvas to fill in the rectangular blank portion. The pizza slice makes for a final piece to fill in any blank areas left by the slicer. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Plane | DIFFICULTY: 4/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Use the snowboard to make the wings. You may not be able to fill all the wing space perfectly; just make sure not to leave any blank areas with the snowboard because you'll use all your other items elsewhere. Next place the bowling pin with the head angled down and to the right for the body and tail of the plane. The headphones are easily made into the wheels, and the orange slice is used for the tail fin. The three garden spades will make the propeller, and the football can be used to make the cockpit portion. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Snowmobile | DIFFICULTY: 6/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Place the salt shaker for the front end of the vehicle, and use the hand shovel as the windshield; the shovel handle will stick down through the bottom to make part of the front skis. Use the scissors and the crescent wrench handle to form the front skis. The pilon pointed to the right will form the middle part of the mobile, and the pipe wrench can be placed to form the tail end. Use the cheese grater for the tail pipe, and the carrot for the rear skis. The clothes pin can be foreshortened to form the connector from the vehicle's body to the rear skis. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Sports Car | DIFFICULTY: 4/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The bowling pin, slightly enlarged, will form the front end of the car, and the watermelon the rear end. Use the graduated cylinder to form the tailpipe. The carrot, foreshortened a bit, will make the windshield, and the encyclopedia laid flat will form the bottom portion of the car. Use the large weights to make both wheels. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Rickshaw | DIFFICULTY: 9/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Start by placing the hatchet, blade end away from you and facing down and left, to make the seat back. The steering wheel, slightly shrunken and tilted to the left, will make the wheel. Place the chair facing right as the rest of the rickshaw seat, and use the two spoons, enlarged and handle ends pointing right, for the handcart portion. The wrench can be used as the adjoining piece between the two spoons, or to fill in any unfilled portions of the shape. Be prepared to do a lot of repositioning if you want to score the gold, especially with the two spoons. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Vehicles | PUZZLE: Motorcycle | DIFFICULTY: 7/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The grab hook fits the tail end of the motorcycle perfectly, with the pulley portion aimed down and out toward the camera. Place the scepter, head up, as the steering column and left steering handle and use the basketball as the front wheel. I used the bowl, turned on its side, for the rear wheel and the eggplant, small end up and to the left, for the seat. The camera can be turned sideways and placed as the headlight and the bottle opener can be turned side- ways and used for the right-hand handle. I used the watermelon to fill in the rounded portion of the underside of the vehicle. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Banjo | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o [T4] Start by placing the basketball perfectly to form the body. Next place the graduated cylinder base-up to form the neck and lower pegs. The head of the scepter can be rotated to form the pegboard and upper pegs perfectly, with the rod portion of the scepter sitting just behind the graduated cylinder. I ranked gold without using the glue bottle but it can be used to fill in any missing portions of the pegboard. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Notation | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Rotate the football to form a circle and place it on the bottom left of the note, then do the same with the lemon for the bottom right. The cane and rake are easily positioned as the narrow portions--just be sure to turn the rake so the pronged end is sideways and facing inward toward the shape. The challenge here is angling the notebook just right to fit the top of the note. You need to make the end closest to you point slightly downard, and I did it with the wide edge facing the camera. With a little tweaking here and there, you'll be able to snag a gold. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Music Stand | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Use one of the playing cards to create the music holder. The scepter, placed upright, works well for the pole section. Two playing cards with the short sides facing you and the canvas can be used to make the legs, but you need to angle them a bit to make them wide enough. It's possible to score a gold without using the notebook, but it can be used as the third leg if necessary. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Trumpet | DIFFICULTY: 3/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The majority of the instrument is formed by placing the graduated cylinder on its side with the base to the right. Next use the chalice to form the mouth piece. The two canes will form the curved pipe, and the head of the rake will make the valve pipes. To maximize your use of space, place one cane with the shaft on top and the other cane with the shaft on the bottom. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Violin | DIFFICULTY: 4/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o For the head and neck, turn the scepter sideways so the "ears" don't show, then tilt the head away from the canvas to get the right shape. Shrink the candle down and turn it diagonally with the ring hidden to form the violin's peg. The lamp forms the upper portion of the body, and the basketball and top hat will combine well to form the lower portion. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Guitar | DIFFICULTY: 6/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Shrink the thumbtacks down and place them at the top for the tuners. I used the pencil sharpaner, foreshortened, for the head and the pen for the neck. There are a few possibilities for the solution to the guitar's body. I turned the tape dispenser with the bottom away from the canvas and angled it to make the lower edge of the body, then turned the glue bottle to foreshorten it with the bottle top facing you and aiming slightly to the right--this makes a diagonal shape which fills in must of the upper portion of the body. Lastly, I foreshortened the notebook to fill in the missing parts on the upper left and lower right to score the gold. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Bag Pipe | DIFFICULTY: 9/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The left-most pipe can be made with the graduated cylinder; place the pencil sharpener above it to fill the square space. For the lower portion of the bag, use the pig's rounded rear end. Turn the chalice slightly toward the canvas and use it to fill the upper portion of the bag. The hook can be used for the curved area connecting the bag to the left-most pipe. Angle the three bones to fit the three other pipes. The bone on the far right will be placed with the rounded knob end down. Use the candy cane for the mouth piece and the small end of the scepter for the upper rounded area of the mouth piece. The banana can be used to fill the rounded area below the first. I finished this puzzle without using the telephone receiver; getting a gold took a LOT of readjusting. A general tip for this one is to try enlarging your objects slightly to improve your ranking. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Drums | DIFFICULTY: 6/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Use the two graduated cylinders as the stands for the kick drum, and the bowl for the drum itself. The two cooking pots will fit the areas for the drums right above the kick drum. Use the two garden picks for the bases of the other two drum stands. The rake, with the head upright, will make the pole for the cymbal stand on the left, and the steering wheel laid almost flat will fit the area for the actual symbol. Use the pie for the drum on the right and the vice grips to fill in the area of the stand just below the drum head. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Gramaphone | DIFFICULTY: 8/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Place the pilon on its side, cone left and tilted away from the canvas slightly to form the conical area of the gramaphone. The phone receiver can be placed to make up most of the opening of the cone; it has to be rotated slightly to the canvas to get the shape right. Use the banana to join the cone to the box portion and one end of the headphones just below that to make the raised shape of the box. The encyclopedia, turned short edge to canvas and fore- shortened, can be used to make the box shape. Finish off the gramaphone with the butter knife to make the crank and two lemons for the two rounded areas next to the phone receiver. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Music | PUZZLE: Saxophone | DIFFICULTY: 6/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The clevis grab hook can be angled just right to form the lower body of the instrument. You'll know you have it in the right spot when the hook's pulley fits in the enlarged area between the valve buttons. Use the carrot for the mouth piece and the frozen treat turned sideways for the upper portion of the body. The thumb tacks will be used for the valve buttons. I used the cup portion of the chalice for the instrument's opening, the banana to fill in the missing areas below the chalice, and the wrench to fill in the gaps near the hook and frozen treat. It took a bit of adjusting but I was able to obtain a gold ranking with this object placement scheme. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Medal | DIFFICULTY: 3/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o [T5] Use the notebook to make the top portion of the medal and the encyclopedia for the thick bar on the right. The graduated cylinder positioned base-down works well for the center bar, and the candy cane rotated so the hook superimposes the rest of it fits the left-most bar. Now comes the tricky part--combining the shadows from the two starfruits to form the badge portion. One of the fruits must be rotated slightly up and left to form the curved point near the bottom of the badge. The 2nd fruit is pretty straightforward and will be positioned closer to the canvas than the first fruit. The vice grip is used to to join the badge portion with the rest of it; don't worry if part of the handle protrudes into an area it shouldn't--I still obtained a gold this way. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Grenade | DIFFICULTY: 3/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The key turned sideways will make the ring and pin. To make the top portion of the grenade, turn the wing nut sideways, magnify it, point one wing up and tilt it away from the canvas. And to recreate the shape of the bomb, point a pine cone toward the canvas and position it under the wing nut, then point the other pine cone downward and slightly away from the canvas, and place it at the bottom of the shape. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Arrow | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o To create the shaft, place the battle axe and turn it so the blades are completely hidden, then angle the handle so it's aimed at about seven o'clock and slightly toward you. The paper airplane makes the tip; you'll need to angle it a bit to get the shape right. Finish things off with playing cards for feathers. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Submarine | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The bulk of the shape is made using the snowboard; you need to tip one end up slightly to get the rounded nose; add a pizza slice for the tail. The playing card is used for the sail, and the shovel, foreshortened, will create the tail fins. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Axe | DIFFICULTY: 3/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Spin the cane to hide the crook then fit it into the handle portion. The phone receiver will fit the end of the blade with a little rotational adjustment, and the two bananas can be used to form the curved top and bottom blade ends. Fit the playing card into the square base of the blade, then use the starfruit turned sideways to fill in the blank area. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Stealth | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Use the point of the pizza slice for the nose of the craft and angle it so it fits the sides. Enlarge it to fill as much of the goal as you can. Now use the five notebooks for the wings and tail end corners. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Helicopter | DIFFICULTY: 6/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Place the steering wheel as the windshield of the helicopter; only a fourth of it will be necessary. The salt shaker can be enlarged and rounded off a bit to make the nose. For the front set of wheels, place one of the headphones band- up, then turn the other set sideways to make the back wheel. The pizza slice, enlarged, can be used to make the majority of the triangle body shape. Place the broom, brush to the right and angled a bit to fit the portion of the tail end and narrow section joining it to the pizza slice. The butter knife and wrench can be enlarged to fit the two shapes forming the large top propeller. The two wing nuts can be turned so that the wings are foreshortened to make up the small rear propeller. Use the playing card to fill in the space behind the windshield if necessary. I achieved the gold reel on this shape without using the scuba flipper. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Tank | DIFFICULTY: 5/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Use the cheese grater, enlarged, for the front bottom section. The hook end of the cane works well for the rounded rear end of the tank treads. The handle of the iron will fit the top-most section of the tank, if tilted correctly and enlarged; the handle of the pipe wrench works well for the turret. I placed the tip of the frozen treat for the front end of the tank, just above the cheese grater, and one end of the snowboard, greatly foreshortened to form a triangular shape, for the rear end. The film camera can be used to fill the rounded portion of the shape just below the turret, and the rest of the shapes can be used to fill in missed spaces. I was able to achieve a gold reel on this challenge with a lot of mistakes and rough edges. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Cannon | DIFFICULTY: 4/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o It's pretty easy to score a gold on this one with minimal effort. Use the two steering wheels, one slightly enlarged, to form the cannon's wheels. Next put the broom handle end to the right to form the body and turret. I placed the orange slice, tilted to form a football-like shape, as the tail end of the shape and didn't use the notebook at all. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Military | PUZZLE: Jet | DIFFICULTY: 3/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The pointy end of the pizza slice is easily fitted into the jet nose; the two pilons will make the wings. Use the book to create the square tail portion of the craft and the cup end of the chalice for the tail end. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Star | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o [T6] The trick here is getting the larger areas of the pizza slices to overlap enough to fill in the star's center completely. Remember to lock your pieces when you get them where you want them. You'll notice that you don't have to crowd all the slices in the same space in order to get the right shape on the star points. If you're going for the gold, keep those points as sharp as possible and don't leave any edges unfilled. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Speech Bubble | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o This puzzle's a total cinch unless you're going for a gold ranking. Get your pizza slice point perfect, then use a little finesse to rotate the watermelon to fill in all the spaces on the shadow goal. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Heart | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o I used the basketball as the left rounded portion and the bowl as the right one. Make sure you cover plenty of space with the bowl, as you'll need to use one encyclopedia to fill in the left edge including the portion left bare by the basketball. The tricky part of this one is creating the point of the heart. With the other three objects in place, select your second encyclopedia and rotate it slightly to the right to get the perfect shape. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Teacup | DIFFICULTY: 3/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o A good place to start here is to rotate the cooking pot so that the handle doesn't show, then place it as the top portion of the teacup. The saucer can be made using the garden shovel with handle aimed toward the canvas. Use the orange wedge to fill in the gaps between the cooking pot and garden shovel. For the cup handle, angle the scissors so that the blades aim to the lower right and will be superimposed by the pot and orange wedge. You'll probably spend most of your time getting the shovel angled just right; I had to orient it a bit out of the shadow goal borders to obtain gold. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Spade | DIFFICULTY: 3/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Use the two bananas back to back to form the top portion of the shape leading to the point. Now you'll have to strategically angle the cooking pot and kettle, handles hidden, to form the rounded parts. I made the base using the paper airplane slightly angled to hide the notch. The tip and missing pieces can be filled in with the pizza slice. My spade was far from perfect and I was still able to score a gold. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Girl | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The frozen treat placed straight-on fits the body and legs pretty much perfectly. Use the baseball for the head and the two clothes pins turned sideways for the girl's arms. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Fleur de Lys | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Fitting those hooks into place to form the side portions is a cinch. Now just turn the bowling pin upside down and place it as the bulk of the rest of the shape. You can achieve a gold without using the pizza slice, but your finished shadow will look nicer if you use it for the top point. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Club | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o The pencil sharpener will fit perfectly as the base. For the leaves, place the bowling pins, base toward canvas, and angle them so the heads point slightly toward the center. Use the remaining items to fill in holes if necessary. Easy! o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Crown | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o I'm not sure why the crown is sitting on an office desk, but nevertheless, start by locking the baseballs into place on the top of the shape. Lay the steering wheel almost flat with the raised part facing up to form the bottom of the crown. Now use the paper planes to make the two outer points, and wrap things up with the pizza slices to complete the shadow. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: Shapes | PUZZLE: Fairy | DIFFICULTY: 6/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Start with the bowling pin aimed away from the canvas for the fairy's head. The starfruit can be used to make the star with some very careful angling; getting it perfect will take some patience. Use the candy cane angled with the hook just barely away from the canvas for the top of the wing; the grapes with the stem to the left will create the lower edge of the wing. The fairy's body is tricky: I used the umbrella tilted to create the bottom of the dress, the handle hidden in the front leg. For the torso and neck, I turned the headphones sideways and aimed the band up and to the left to make the neck. The can opener can be used to make the arm; you can still obtain gold with the metal portion sticking out the end. I used the baseball to fill in a missing portion of the wing, and the two bones to create the fairy's legs. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: The Sea | PUZZLE: Fish | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o [T7] Place the trophy on its side with the cup portion on the left, then rotate it so the handles don't cast shadows. You'll probably want to change the camera angle using the B button for this puzzle. Size the trophy down and rotate it to match the shape of the fish's tail. When you get the tail just right, lock the trophy with the minus button. The football is already almost the right size for the fish's body. It takes a bit of fine tuning to get a gold ranking, and you may want to zoom out to get it just right. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: The Sea | PUZZLE: Umbrella | DIFFICULTY: 2/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Rotating that pizza slice just right to get the shape of the umbrella top will be your biggest challenge here. When you think you've got it, place that candy cane to complete the shape then fine-tune your work to score a gold. o==========================o=============================o====================o | THEME: The Sea | PUZZLE: Trident | DIFFICULTY: 5/10 | o==========================o=============================o====================o Lots of small objects to place on this one. Start with the staff portion by placing the scepter with the top tilted away from the canvas, which will fill out the bulbous part of the trident. The wing nut can be placed to make the next area. I created the middle prong by turning the hatchet upside-down and rotating the handle to form a thin line. The two shovels turned sideways and |
