It was said that the doctor thought Michael had an addiction to medicine or something so he gave him other drugs to help him like, sleep, but they didn't work so Michael wanted the first medicine again and then the doctor went to the bathroom and came back noticing that Michael wasn't breathing. :(

I dunno if it's true, because of course, if the doctor did murder him on purpose, he would try to defend himself and whatnot.
