This thread is for the discussion of alternate outfits for each character. Giving characters alternate outfits would be a nice feature for the next Super Smash Bros. game. Hardly an important feature, but it would be a neat touch.
To try and keep things organized, I am going to continually edit this post to add the best ideas.
Discuss what you think would be a good alternate outfit, and if it's mutually decided that it would work, I will add it to this post.

Samus should have alternate outfits that actually change in appearance in accordance to the color's origins (i.e. Dark Suit, Fusion Suit, Light Suit, etc.).

Link should have the Zora Armor for his blue color, and perhaps the Magic Armor for his gold or red color. Like for Samus, the outfits should be modified to be shaped just like its origins.

Sonic should actually have different outfits.

I think we had a forum like this before... Whatever, this seems way more organized.

Mr. Game & Watch : White - Color swap

Yeah, a forum was made like this before, but it was for colour swaps.
This one is for actual alternate outfits.
Good ideas so far.
I didn't include the Game and Watch one, as that's a colour swap rather than a new outfit.
I put roy up there for Marth, but as a new outfit.

I've got a couple of other ideas, but wanted to get second opinions before putting them up there.
Mr. L for Luigi
Galacta Knight for Meta Knight (Without the lance and shield, but still wielding Galaxia)
Dry Bowser for Bowser

What do you think?

The ideas are good. I thought we had Dry Bowser, though.

umm... what about Peach's striker outfit? sorry i dont have a picture. Or Dixie Kong for Diddy since they're pretty much the same.

How about Penguin Mario from NSMBW? Intead of fire, use ice.

And how about Bowletta for Bowser?

Bowletta...maybe. it has as much chance as Diddy becoming Dixie, low, imo
as 4 Penguin Mario, thats basically a separate character who would be a clone... for both of these assumptions, there is one reason... U WOULD CHANGE MARIO'S MOVESET! u even said so urself

Dark Bowser seems like a good idea, because it would be more than just a colour swap, as the hair changes slightly and what not. Any more opinions on that one? Before I add it to the list?

Peach's striker outfit would be interesting, it's just a lot of her moveset wouldn't work if she was isn't wearing her dress, for example, how would she horizontally float?

There's already a colour swap representing Dixie, but an actual model change? Opinions on that one?

Penguin Mario I don't think will work, due to the fact his moveset would be different. Turning people into iceblocks? I don't see it happening.

Bowletta is an interesting thought. Opinions?

Model changes should not be made unless they correspond with the color swap of a character that is a reference only to itself.

So, Dark Bowser could be Bowser's dark colour scheme.
And Dry Bowser being his light colour scheme.

Dr. Mario would just be a completely alternate outfit, but in ode to the Melee character and the success of the Dr. Mario games.

Mr. L I'm not sure where it would fit in. Maybe replace the Waluigi-esque colour scheme, making it his dark colour? Or maybe just a misc. outfit.

Daisy would obviously replace peach's yellow colour swap, which was already Daisy themed.

... and so on. I'll edit the post to state which outfit corresponds to which colour scheme.


Also, I was thinking, instead of having Wario's plumber overalls as a completely different outfit with different colour swaps, it should be his yellow colour swap. That being that he's only in his plumber overalls in the one colour, but that replaces the yellow colour swap of his biker's outfit. Opinions?

I say he should have plumber overalls (they have references, the white and navy blue one for example) should be used, with biker Wario as an alternate.

So the plumber overalls become his normal standard outfit, and the Biker Wario becomes an alternate outfit for one of the colours? Which one would you suggest?

Why do we have to replace the color swaps?

Why can't we just add more? Wario is fine having 12 colors, where as to Jigglypuff and Pikachu only having 4 colors hasn't thrown anyone into an utter rage. Not everyone needs the same amount of colors is all I'm saying.

Neither am I, but I think that we don't want to go over the top in adding loads of outfits and colours. If a certain outfit would replace a colour swap nicely, then why not?

I don't see why not. However, for things that could replace another color, I don't think we should do. I'm saying that generally, unless the outfit is basically a color swap's 2.0 in a lot of ways, it should be added as another swap, not replacing an old one.

Blue Bowser is the same colors as he was in an old official Mario Bros. artwork, and therefore shouldn't be replaced by Dark Bowser (who would only give that replacement for being blue). Addition, not replacement.

Pink Samus is the Samus based on the way she looks when you having the Gravity suit in the NES Metroid and select missiles. Also, Phazon Suit is way to focused are black to be a red-color swap. Addition, not replacement.

I don't recall what "Light" color swap you're trying to replace is. Varia, Fusion, Dark, Gravity, Pink, and Green are the only colors. Whatever the case, addition, not replacement.

Wario should keep all the outfits he had in Brawl. No replacements. The only change being the addition of DIY Wario.

Despite being perfectly fine replacements for Red and Blue, having all three conventional Green, Red, and Blue colors would be good to have for Link. It keeps tribute to OoT in a way, and being able to not be forced to wear extra clutter if you like Red or Blue would be nice. Additions, not replacements.

Galactica Knight is bright, but is has more of a focus on Pink rather than White. Plus White Metaknight has bat wings where as to Galactica Knight has Angel wings. If anything, however, replace Pink Metaknight with Galactica Knight. It's Pink, and nobody likes it anyway.

By "light" Colour swap, I meant the Green Suit - sorry I should of been more clear. It was a light coloured green, and so I thought the Light Suit could replace it entirely, as I fail to remember the significance of a green suit.

Yeah, Red, Green, and Blue are always a given color no matter the character.

And the two Armours haven't been updated. Also, I think it would be good if they actually did count as red and blue colors, just spare ones, so when you choose teams, you can choose either of those colors to use. Wario does it with his overalls, so I don't see why not for Link.

I have an interesting idea.

Now, obviously I don't expect this character to make it, and it'd be a pretty big "What the *** " if they did. But, in case Nintendo decides to randomly surprise us up the butt with this one (seeing how it has enough fanbase, and is a well-known enough series in Nintendo), we can at least give it a real uniqueness to it. Animal Crosser . My idea being that if for some reason one ever does make it to Smash, we can at least do the one thing that can be done with no other character: Have every color swap an alternate outfit.

Now, obviously we're not likely to come across ever having to use these. But, if Nintendo pulls another ROB, then they'd at least have an excuse for such a character: multiple outfits. I, in no way, actually support Animal Crossers being a part of Smash Bros. I just wanted to express the potential idea.
