"There are 39 characters in the game this time around and just adding a few more wouldn't be enough to justify a new game in my opinion; I'd have to draw a line in the sand and have a new approach to make it worthwhile. As long as the fans enjoy it, though, that's what matters and in the distant future, I guess that might be something I have to consider."
-Masahiro Sakurai
Soooo.....
What features should be added?
Think of some of the additions Brawl brought -Assist Trophies, Final Smashes, etc.
-not to mention a much better story mode, and Boss Battles.
What could breathe new life into the next game...?

Perhaps after you beat the Subspace Emissionary 2, you can redo it, but in negative colour.
Perhaps a multi-player wi-fi subspace?
Perhaps a better custom stage builder?

Trippy mode...
More multi-player options are always welcome, in my opinion. One of the things I loved about Brawl is that pretty much everything can be done co-op. Wi-fi Subspace would be awesome, as long as players were somehow connected, or enemies keep re-spawning. Don't want one player moving too far ahead, killing everything before anyone else gets to it.
As someone with more custom stages on my Wii than regular ones, I'm all about a better stage builder. Being able to rotate items (like spikes) would be cool, at least let pieces only take up the space they actually fill. No more of this empty space you can't build in around nearly everything...

Indeed.
I like the idea of the respawn. However, what if the game allowed players to also press the button to warp to where P1 is (like on co-op mode).
I would like that ability to rotate stuff like spikes or even the blocks that fall down (they fall different ways). And as for the space they actually fill, I would assume you mean that if a piece takes up a corner of a square, they take up the whole square rather than the exact amount. That would be a kick-@ss tetris though.

Yea, an improved custom stage building system would be awesome, and the thought that stage pieces only take up the space they ACTUALLY USE?! Ha, now ur just overreaching xD
Also, i don't have anything specific except that i really wanna see what their new addition to the battle system would be (since each one has had one so far). SSB's entire battle system was new and revolutionary, then the addition of the smash attack was SSBM, and most recently was the Final Smash...i expect something really cool for the next one!
Tag team matches would be cool (where u can ACTUALLY tag in and out ur partner, that would really add an interesting level to the game)...but sadly it could add match hoggers...so maybe instant tag at death?
Having REAL alt costumes would be cool (the only real current example is Peach to Daisy). Like re-adding Dr. Mario as an alt. costume for Mario. It would change his look and even his move looks (fire-balls to pill/Fire ball f-smash to shocker), but just keep the exact same stats as the old one, so it adds a newer feel to older characters without having to ACTUALLY change game mechanics.

As do I. The button press warp is a good feature I forgot about.
I'm still for the respawn idea though, too. More to kill...
Perhaps not right away, and only a couple at a time.
On the topic of 'Subspace, they seemed to take so much time putting in the whole "sticker system", yet it was only for the story mode. Why not have another mode in mulitiplayer where you can use your personally "buffed" character against other people?
A tag-team mode might be kinda' cool, AceOverlord .
Pick two characters, fight with the first, when a meter or something fills, you can call in your second pick (perhaps with one of your taunts?) for a two-character attack specific to whatever two you chose, then play as that second character until the meter(?) fills again. Or just stay as them until you die and your other character comes out automatically.
The meter fills over time, but fills faster the more you are damaged -giving the "underdog" more of a chance.
All about actual alternate costumes. I already have a list.
As for the stage-builder, here are a few of my thoughts, so far...
* Pieces only taking up the space they actually fill. (Make a floor out of tree stumps, get pushed off a sideways moving platform when it moves under a block, "special" pieces not having a whole block's worth of "dead" space up both sides, and on top, you get the idea...)
* Ability to rotate all stationary pieces. Not so sure about moving platforms.(If turned, could "fall down" pieces move sideways when you step on them? Spikes and springs on the walls and ceiling?)
* A "selection" tool. Able to pick one piece, or make a "box" (hold to decide how big). Which you can then delete, or move (even flip or rotate) all pieces in the selected area.
* Color pallett (even a basic one) for at least all basic blocks (squares, slants, platforms).
* Destructible blocks (like in Pit's level, Skyworld)
* Pass-through blocks (even if part of them is still transparent) -good for not-so-obvious paths and more visually appealing for "theme" stages. Certain pieces, like pillars, would be cool as forground "pass-through" pieces, as well.
* Reflection blocks, that reflect projectiles and thrown items.
* Angled ice blocks -for slides and more controlled "item relocation".
-Obviously, some of these could be missused and make a level "not fun" (so can spikes), but they could also be used for some cool effects. It doesn't have to be Little Big Planet, but as much as people seem to use the feature, a little more could go into it next time around...

- Tourney mode online
- Like Ace said, alternate costumes. (Kind of like Wario's normal outfit and his motorcycle outfit in his Warioware games)
- The ability to use Wii Speak while playing online (With friends only)

New feature...or more like, old feature reborn...if they're gonna have the event matches...i'd LIKE for them to have some meaning, or some noteable difficulty!
Brawl's were SOOOO e-z to beat, and there was nothing really special about them (including the last 1), where as Melee's were pretty kick-azz, they had no difficulty setting (which i enjoyed more since it was basically 1 size fits all), u UNLOCKED some decent things out of beating them (including trophies AND characters), PLUS, they overall had more creative ideas behind them, these just seem like they were half-heartedly thrown together!
So either make 'em good, or don't make 'em at all!
