I play video games, read comics, program, do IT related stuff, read fantasy/fiction/sci-fi stuff, write, and a few other things. One of my hobbies involves writing walkthroughs, and contributing various things online (like on Gamefaqs). I generally play video games between 15-40 hours per week (atleast). I also have an obsessive "Scholar" personality. I seek knowledge in all forms with everything I do. I also get heavily involved in games and seek to get a perfect game in every single game I play, no matter what the type of game. Code of Walkthrough Writing (and other contributions) ----------------------------------------------------- I have a strict code of content when it comes to writing walkthroughs. I don't want to waste my time writing/re-writing/editing stuff that has already been written before multiple times. There is a difference between "contributing" and "rehasing". I want to "contribute". That means I want to add stuff that has not been added before, cover stuff that has been been covered before, or recover stuff that has been covered before (but I don't believe has been covered well enough). A lot of times I won't write a walkthrough on a game simply because there is already a walkthrough on gamefaqs that already covers everything there is to cover about the game. In those cases if I have something to add I add them into the cheat system on gamefaqs as a submittal. I only write a walkthrough when I really have something to contribute to the community. Generally if there is a walkthrough already written about it, I won't write one. If I feel I have a lot of stuff to add that wasn't already covered, or I feel it wasn't covered properly then I will write a walkthrough even if there are 20 already written. It all depends on if I have something to contribute that will not already be covered, or covered properly. I am an expert gamer. There isn't anything within any game that I do not have the ability to complete. That is the reason I write walkthroughs when I am in the mood..to help other people be able to have the help they need. Especially when they are in parts of a game where they are stuck. This Game --------- Alpha Protocol is a pretty good game that has gotten a variety of mixed reviews. Some people love it, and some people hate it. Personally I find it to be a very entertaining game and definitely worth at least 1 playthrough. The game itself is roughly 15-20 hours long for a full (perfect) playthrough. You could easily add another 15-30 hours if you wanted to replay the game and try to get all the data content up to 100%. <--------------------------------------------------------------------------> ======================== =Basic Game Information= ======================== This section has some basic information that you might find useful before starting the actual game. class information ----------------- When they game first starts you can choose from either 4 preset Agent Histories, or two difficulty levels. One of the difficulty levels is not unlocked when you first start the game. The four presets are: Soldier, Free Agent, Tech Specialist, and Freelancer. Below the presets there are 2 additional options: Recruit, and Veteran. The 4 presets are pre-built with a certain skill layout. They pre-built classes are laid out as follows: Soldier - Submachine Guns X2, Assault Rifles X2, Technical Aptitude X1, toughness X2. Field Agent - Stealth X3, Pistols X1, Martial Arts X2 Tech Specialist - Stealth X1, Shotguns X2, Sabotage X3, Technical Aptitude X2 Freelancer - None (31 free points) You can either choose one of the presets, or you can choose one of the two difficulty settings. Recruit starts you off with 0 skill points and veteran starts you off with 120 skill points. You do not have veteran unlocked until you clear the game one time under Recruit. Each of the presets can be modified appropriately (you can add/remove skills that are set). A lot of players have recommended playing the first playthrough using recruit. If you wish to play that way, then that is a choice. I personally recommend on your first play through to use one of the presets. Here is the reason. THose presets get you extra points to spend at the start. Then from levels 1-20 you get the same amount of skill points. So in a standard game you get more skill points from a preset than you do a Recruit start. Here is the reason I recommend that. Most players only play a game once (at least at any given time). That means after your first play through you probably won't touch it again for awhile. In short if your only playing the game one time, pick a preset. You'll get a lot more total points with a preset than you would with Recruit. If your playing the game two times (and your sure) start with Recruit. You will have a lot less points your first play through but you'll get a ton of extra points your second play through to make up for it. Again this is only useful for people who are definitely going to play it twice. Skill Breakdown --------------- Coming Soon. Dialogue Options ---------------- A dialogue option is a list of option choices that can be made during dialogue that will change the general flow of the dialogue. These choices serve two purposes. First off they cause your character to react differently and say different things depending on what you choose. They also alter the way the characters you are talking to respond with you. Secondly different options unlock different sets of information in their profile. In theory you would have to peruse all dialog options in a few play throughs to unlock all the data on the characters intel. Also note that if you say the wrong thing to certain characters it can cause then to not give you entire groups of missions they would have given you. Because of this you may want to watch your tongue in the game (at least on your first play through so you don't lose any missions). Action Options -------------- Action options are different than dialog options. These choices actually decide what happens next with the story. Your sometimes given a list of options relating to how to respond to something. How you respond decides what happens next, and what your character does. During gameplay I try to try every action option using saving/loading so I can have as thourough of a walkthrough as possible. Stealth Tips ------------ - Don't shoot a pistol (even silenced) within range of a nearby enemy. Sometimes they respond to the sound of the enemy getting shot if they are near each other. - Anytime you are in an area you do not know were enemies are crouch... enemies even 2-3 rooms away can here you running. Anytime you do run in an area like that always use Silent Running skill (if you have it). <--------------------------------------------------------------------------> ============= =Walkthrough= ============= Note 1: If you press the A button after a cutscene has loaded for awhile you can skip it. Note 2: If you hold the R button down during talking scenes it starts fast forwarding and plays through the talking scenes a lot faster. Obviously I only recommend this if you are having to hear a scene you already heard before and want to hurry things up. Note 3: I have played most of the game choosing "Professional" for dialog options for most of the game. I am not too sure what happens with other options. I do know that certain options can raise or lower your reputation with the characters you are talking to. Generally I noticed a lot of the other options besides professional tend to drop them. Another good thing to notice is that the character will get a general perk which is directly related to which type of dialog choice they have been getting the most. Please note that during Dialog choices I only choose the ones that I feel I would chose during real life. At least for my first play through. For dialog options I try to list out what each response will do before going into detail about which choice I made and what happens. Let's get started. beginning --------- Welcome to the walkthrough for Alpha Protocol. Please read the "Basic Game Information" section first before reading the walkthrough. Throughout this walkthrough I am going to assume you have read that section. Continue without reading it, at your own risk. At the very start of the game your given a list of potential choices for "Agent History". To get detailed information about these see the section labeled "Basic Game Information". When the screen comes up I chose Tech Specialist. I was unhappy with a few of the skill choices so I made a few adjustments here. My personal play style during this walkthrough is going to be heavy into fighting, A lot of technical aptitude (because I love technological stuff), and stealth. My main weapon of choices will hover around Pistols most of the game, for a variety of reasons. What I did at the very beginning of the game was remove both points off Shotguns. I put one of those into Pistols and the other one into Martial Arts. Afterwards I accept the changes and start the game. Before continuing review the section pertaining to skills, and really map out how you want your character to work. You only get a limited number of skill points, and only one chance to respec them a little later in the game so beware. I am going to be focusing on stealth most (but not all) of the game. There are a variety of ways to approach each situation so feel free to deviate from the walkthrough and play in your own play style. Greybox -------- You start off in a bed. Get up and pick up your PDA. You are given a list of 3 Dialog Options. Professional, Aggresive, Suave. Each one gives you a stat bonus. I chose Professional. After that you are given a list of Action Options. The reactions to them are as follows. Distraction: She disables the security system, unlocks your door, and distracts the guard with a broken panel. Ambush: She triggers the alarm and enemies come running to the door. Improvise: You break the glass, it triggers alarm, enemies come running. Ignore: Same as improvise Since I am going to play my first game through as mostly stealth, I chose Distraction. She unlocks the door and does something to distract the guard with a short circuited panel. Make your way through the door. Generally before I can reach the second door the guard has lost interest in the panel and is walking down the hall. I am not sure if this is a glitch or actual gameplay. Regardless, walk up behind the gaurd while crouched. When you get close it'll say "Perform Takedown". You can easily take him out with B at this point. After he's taken out head through the door. The alarm will trigger. Quickly head over to the control panel near the opposite door. The system will run you through a tutorial. YOu just simple perform the clipping paths in the proper numbered order. After you do that it'll shut off the alarm. After the alarm is shut off, head through the door and into the lobby for another auto-save. There are a total of two enemies in this room. When you first walk in head to the left and you'll pick up some special ammo (for the tranquilizer gun). After you pick up the ammo head across the room. The first guard is generally messing with the terminal and you can perform a takedown right there. If he has already started moving he is pretty easy to get behind and perform a takedown silently. Generally if you time it right you can get to him before he leaves the terminal. After taking him out head around the desk and get the pistol and ammo another round of ammo for it. Afterwards you'll see an enemy on the other side of the room. Either sneak up to him and perform a takedown (what I normally do) or shoot him a few times in the back. Make sure you kill him before he really notices you or it'll trigger an alarm. Generally you can get to him for a takedown while he is facing the window. If not the just get behind something when you get near him and wait for him to turn around and face the window again, which he'll do after every few minutes or so. After your done head for the door. There is a heal box right beside it. If your very careful/quite when you go through the door (sneaking) you will see a man after you clear the door way. He'll be messing with a computer terminal. As long as you were quite in the lobby, your stealthing, and you don't kick the door down, he's generally hanging out near the terminal. An easy takedown kill. Grab the ammo in the room near the door and head downstairs. At the bottom of the stairs watch out for the camera. Just head over and hide behind the wall. Once the camera goes back the other way you can easily reach the door with no problems. Also notice that if you destroy the camera (shoot it) it'll trigger an alarm anyway. Once you get to the door way head through and quickly get behind a wall. This is going to be your first Semi-challenging room. There are a lot of guards around this hallway and in these rooms. If you use the right pattern you can take them all out with Takedown Kills. First take down the guy in the hall way. He'll start off by walking by and then facing the far wall. Quickly get up behind him and perform a takedown. You can also line up your sites with the pistol and kill him with a headshot. You can actually use headshot kills in place of takedowns and they are fairly easy to do. However I like the takedown sequences. Afterwards head through the left door from when you enter. GO through 2 rooms and takedown kill the man standing in front of the computer. There is a heal box within these rooms on this side as well if you need to heal at all. After your done taking him down head out either one of the doors and go straight across to the other rooms. There is nothing in these rooms but a healbox. After looking around head back out and head to the end of the hall and through the door. You walk into an empty room. Go straight across to the door in front (you can't go through the other two) and pick the lock. There is a tutorial for the lockpicking and it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. In the hallway there is a healbot and more ammo. When your done here head through the next door. You get a quick cutscene and some information about setting up specials. There is some ammo on the upper ledge. After you get it, head down the stairs. There are a couple of guards on the lowest level. It can be a little tricky getting through this room with stealth. If you look down you'll see a guard. He'll slowly start walking away from you, and then turn around. You can kill him with a takedown kill but he takes a little bit of work to get to him. What I generally do is go down the first area of stairs and wait for him to go across the room out of site from the rest of guards. For a few minutes he ends up standing there..that gives you plenty of time to lineup a headshot and blow his brains out without anyone in the room hearing it. Also be careful. If you accidentally miss and hit metal or something the alarm automatically goes off. Also if you take too long to line up the head shot he'll notice you and come running. After he's dead analyze the pattern of the guards down the hall for a minute. This is the best vantage point to review them. These two guards can be very tricky. Luckily there are a total of atleast 3 ways that you can deal with them. The three methods that I know of are listed here. There could be more. Method One: Go down the stairs and up against the wall near the side the guards are on. Head around the back of the truck and wait for the guards to split up in a good vantage point. Work your way around the truck and forklift and take down the first guard from behind. If you timed it right you sould be able to seamlessly work your way to the final remaining guard and take him down with a takedown kill as well. Make sure you do it in one fluid motion with proper timing to minimize the chances of getting caught. The reason I tell you to do this in one fluid motion is because the second guard will notice the body and most likely trigger the alarm before you can kill him. This is really easy if you time it. If your having troubles taking out these two guards let me explain it in more detail. It's really easy if you set it up right. Go behind the truck. When the guard is facing away go over to the wall and hide behind it out of site of the guard. When he comes back to the forklift and turns away it will be at the same time the other guard disappears behind the other wall. If you quickly takedown the first guard and turn the corner and head for the second guard you can generally get to him and kill him before he see's you. He will be facing sideways but you can takedown kill from the side right before he gets a chance to see you, if you are quick enough. Method Three: Now I have an alternate strategy for those two guards as well. Once you shoot the first one in the head there will be a ladder right beside him. If you head up that ladder, all the way across you can do 1 of two things. You can either bypass the enemies entirely by just heading to the exit door. Basically just go through the door and leave the two enemies alive. Or you can use an alternate method to kill them as well. You would come above them instead. When the first one is behind the wall, shoot him in the head. Then when the next one comes patrolling around you can shoot him as well. I personally don't like leaving enemies alive, so I wouldn't just leave it. But if you get stuck on the hacking 3-4 times this is a good alternative than to have to reclear out this room each time. Lining up both head shots can be a little tricky. One of the easier ways is to kill the second guy when he is walking behind the crates and then sneak kill the first guy when he heads back the other way. Method Four: There is one more method that I found by chance. It's actually a lot easier. You go up the ladder and wait until the second guard heads back behind that truck and shoot him in the head. Then get to a good vantage point of the ladder. When the other guard starts coming up the ladder either line up a quick head shot or shoot him 1-2 times before he really sees you. Generally that'll kill him before the alarm goes off. After all of that is done head back where you shot the first guard in the head and get the gun ammo. Afterwards head up the stairs, or either ladder and head to the exit door. You walk into a room with a guard, a camera, and a computer terminal. Wait until the guard is headed away from you and the camera is in the other direction and then head straight for the computer terminal. Be careful in this room however, and with the hacking. This does not check point you at this time so if you die or mess up it will require you to clear the entire previous room again. The hacking in this game can be a little tricky. It may end up taking a few tries to get the hang of it. If your stuck on the hacking part, look up the section "Mini Games Explained" and I give you a full run down of how to perform all of the mini games. If you made it to the hacking console without being detected then you should be fine. After you hack the system it will open the security door. You still have to deal with the guard and the security camera. Generally you can just walk through the door and ignore both. However I have this bad habit of not wanting to leave anything alive. So I generally shoot him from across the room (if you time it right it won't alert the camera) I am not sure if it can anyway. Regardless I normally line up a head shot from across the room then head through the door. Also if you look at the camera line of sight you'll see some ammo you can pick up when it moves back in the other direction. When your done in this room head through the door. OK you get a cutscene. Finally put some of this story into perspective. If you did everything I said and everything went well you should have received a level. Put them as you wish, I am going to describe here what skills I built up. I will do this throughout the entire game. However you are free to set it up the way you feel is necessary, or based off of your play style. See the section related to skills for all of my personal notes and details on each skill and each level of each skill. I put one in the next level of Technical Aptitude (which makes it now level 3). This gives me the ability to strip ammo from enemies (Which I find useful for keeping my ammo supplies up). I put my next point into Martial Arts. The reason I do this is I love the fighting in this game more than the weaponry (at least to an extent) because they did it right. So I want to be able to continually upgrade my martial arts abilities so I can get all the higher level stuff later in the game related to martial arts. At this point you should have 4 points left. That doesn't give you enough left for stealth or pistols..so I generally put it on technical aptitude. With the leveling out of the way it's time to move forward. The guards at this point will no longer attack you. Makes me kind of feel bad for killing them all as I go, but I hate leaving enemies alive. You can't go back so the only choice is move forward through the open door. As you enter through the door and into the hallway all of your weapons are taken away (you don't need them right now) and the door that leads further in is unlocked automatically. Your going to head through a couple of rooms. You can hear some off handed comments from a few of the staff you pass. You come to a door that has a guard. You can't go there. So now it's time to go through the only door that you have the ability to open. First thing is first. You are presented with a locker. This is where you can officially customize your appearance. Customize your character however you want. Take your time and get it all setup the way you want, and then it's time to move forward. Exit when your done. You get a little notice about orientation being optional. You can turn around and go back through the door you came to start up your missions, but I HIGHLY recommend performing orientation...especially if this is your first play through. You miss a lot of content if you just move forward. The walkthrough is setup as if you went through orientation. First cut on the TV and hear what all they have to say. It's very important towards the story and helps you get a better grasp of what is going on. Besides that there are some staff members but you can't really talk to them in this room. There is an email system you can hack though. Hack through the email system. They won't do anything to you when you do (the guards I mean). It just lets you get in and gives you quite a few emails that you can read which can also give you some details on the story and various other bits of useful information. There are three training areas you can go to. Gadgets, Weapons, and Espionage. I go to them in no particular order so feel free to jump around in whatever order you feel comfortable. First I head towards "Gadget Orientation" (the door on the left). Gadget training is pretty simple. First off destroy all targets as instructed with the grenades. Afterwards throw one under the truck and destroy it. Then follow the instructions to use an EMP on the door lock. Grab something from the cabinet and hold down the button to place it on the door. After that the door opens up behind you and it's time to move forward. You are now in a room with 3 guards. Take them out (doesn't matter how. I just beat them all unconscious with my fists directly). Doing a standard job I got a good rating. Then he offers you an offer...you are thrown into a little side game. Basically you have to shut off the alarms quickly to prevent guards coming out. This can get a little tricky..but right before it starts you get an auto-save so if you end up getting caught or can't make it just do a reload on the autosave and it'll start you right back at the beginning of this side game. So you have an infinite number of times to try it. Once you get in that board just try to deactive the alarms without the guards seeing you. If they do, beat them down and/or hide while you continue to deactive new alarms. After a bit you get it successfully and get a load of money for it. After you clear that orientation it gives you an objective to head to the interrogation room. I recommend ignoring that and finish up the other two orientations since you already have done the first one. This is a good chance to get more experience in the game, and more money. You get experience for stuff you do in these, and experience gets you closer to leveling (which you need if you want to get the most number of skill points to spend possible. Next head into the "Weapons Orientation". Be careful during your choices at this scene. Some of them can cause a negative towards the reputation with certain characters or factions. I have generally been choosing professional so far for all of them because it seems to be the most appropriate. Her name is Mina by the way. Just a hint for when you make that first choice, so you can make a good impression to start with. First you have a short training session with Pistols. Then with the assault rifle. Just follow instructions and work your way through it. When prompted head into the live range. Kill all the moving dummy targets and head through the room and into the area to deal with shotgun training. Finish shotgun training and head down hall. Take out two targets and arrive at next waypoint. Clear out SMG area and then the Assault Rifle area. Clear all of that and head up the ladder to exit the area. Entire training session is short, sweet and very easy. You then get your score. If you are unhappy with your score then you have the option to do it again. I did it a few times until I was happy with the result. Also when she gives you the other options I generally choose Professional. You can play around with the affection dialog if you wish. I was upset with this. I had played through the game and didn't try the affection dialog with Mina so I went ahead and started a quick new game to try out the dialog and see what happens. I wanted to know if it was some simple dialog or something bigger. But nothing. I did it and it's nothing but a simple smart comment from her and that's it. So it wasn't even worth starting over to see what it said. Regardless I wanted to be as complete during this walkthrough as possible. When you get done with all of that head into "Espionage Orientation". During this mission your timed. It's just an obstacle course. Run through it, dodge enemies, and hack whatever doors get in your way. Very quick, clean and to the point. Work your way through the course. Take out all guards if possible for a bonus, if not evade them. Regardless when you are done you are given a general evaluation score. Again if you want to rerun it for a better score you can. OK bit of advice here. After your mission for espionage you have a chance to get a great deal of information. Ask about this guys job during the dialog. Then jump around. I always chose professional when it was an option unlessa question was listed. Carry on the conversation with him as long as possible. You can get dossier information from him as well as learn a great deal about the story and get some ideas about what all is going on and why your here. So that's it. All orientation missions are done. Time to head for the interrogation room to get this game really started. Now follow the marker to interrogation. You can also repeat any of the tests as often as you want to get whatever results you want to get. OK you enter a room for the evaluation. He gives you a run down of your score. I am not sure what you got but for my first playthrough I had good scores across the board, and the old guy apparently even wrote a full sentence. I suppose if you sucked in all of the training you would get negative stuff here. I know for a fact I did not do the best I possibly could have but I did above average, which seemed to get a great deal of praise. AFter that is all over you have a conversation and are given a series of options. I chose duty for the first one, and professional for the second one. The third choice I also picked professional (like I normally do when it is given as an option. After that option I picked respectful. I always try to pick positive choices that I think will make the people I am speaking to like me more. Now listen to him carefully. He goes into great detail regarding relationships and reputation (which is built based off of how I respond to people. This is why I have been telling you I default to professional. Generally whe it is given as an option the rest of them are going to cause negative affects (but not always). So most of the time I am aware of all the choices but default to Professional unless something else seems better for raising rep. Also if I do not have professional I try to pick the one that is going to gain me the most information or preferrably make them like me more. This is not always the case.. there are times when you are going to want to make people like yourself or talk yourself out of a bad situation...this is a time when I may end up changing my methods. Also this is where I just have learnt about the differences. Each one of the main options is another choice (Suave, Professional, Aggressive. So that is explaining to me why I have been seeing those choices. So professional is how I am probably going to play throughout my entire game, besides under certain circumstances. After that is all over you go through quite a bit of cutscenes to find out your headed to Saudi Arabia. First mission. After it's all over my favorite part comes up. A general rundown on how you did. Ideally you would have completed 20/20 objectives. I like reading up on how my stats went. If you followed the entire walkthrough then you would also have a total of 22500 cash which can come in handy in a little while. Now it should also be a level up and the loading screen which is leading you to an interrogation. Thereis some talking. After your done with all of that you find yourself in your safe house. Talk to the director to get some details about your house and then if you have been following the walkthrough it's time to level up again. This time I put one on Pistols and 1 on Stealth which is all you have enough points for. If you want put them however you feel will more affectively match your play style. OK take a few minutes before continuing to reflect on everything that has happened. I have learned a great deal about the game throughout all of that and you probably have too. OK so the system wasn't as cut and dry as I had originally assumed. Basically Professional is going to be the main choice option that I use but there are some times when I need to do other stuff. Now we know we have to do different things depending on the person we are talking to. Some people might like smart asses while others might like people who are suave. Still others will like the professional approach. Still throughout most of the game I am going to attempt Professional unless I mention otherwise while I am playing the game. Ok now that we have all of that clarified let's start digging through the safehouse and see what all is here for you. Watch TV. Interesting stuff there about the world. Check through all your inventory. There is a lot of new stuff there + gadgets. Dig through your intel (there is a lot of new stuff there as well) and your objectives. Be careful because if you select a mission from your PDA it automatically loads up the mission and starts it. I would spend time reading through all of your gear as well. Reading using LB for more information. Read about all your armor, weapons, mods, and gadgets (if that is the way you like to play). At this point run around the house (save the room with the computers for last). You can play around with your weapons locker, and read multiple different things off the house. He'll start talking when you examine something. There are quite a few those in the house to give you a little background on him and Darcy (a fellow agent that you should have dosier information about. In the bathroom you can use the mirror to change his appearance (just like you did in the locker back at the other headquarters at the start of the game. When you are done with everything else in the safehouse head into the room with all of the computers...I find this the most entertaining room in the entire safehouse. OK first off get on the computer. There are 2 options. First off check your email. This is probably my favorite part of the game. Inbox are emails that are in the inbox, archive are emails you have archived, sent are emails you have sent, and intel are informational items. Right now you only have some in Inbox. The first email is from Mina. This is some important money. So download the information and archive it. The next email is about your information. This also gives you the first chance to reply. I love this part. Take a look at the options..they retype something different depending on how you want to respond. Do whatever you feel comfortable and send the email along. For this email I chose Professional which also brought her up in reputation. After responding archive it, and go to the next email. This one is the first one from Sean Darcy. You can't respond to the first so after you read it just archive it and then pull up the final email which is also from Sean Darcy. You can't respond to that one as well so just read and archive it. When your done in your email back up and head into the Clearinghouse. This is the black market. Take your time here and spend hte money. You can buy money in almost any of the areas and a large quantitity of different weapons gadgets, accessories, armor and much more. Get what you need based off of your playstyle. Generally the first thing I go and buy is anything related to intel. Some are there for a limited time and weapons and everything else will always be there. Anytime I see intel for sell I buy it immediately. In regards to your pistol, smg, shotgun, assault rifle, body armor, and gadgets buy whatever matches up to your playstyle. Everyone needs armor so those are good purchases. Everyone needs gadgets so those are good purchases as well..though depending on your play style you might like some gadgets more than others. So you know what is going on. Here is the only rule to keep in mind (BUY INTEL WHEN IT IS AVAILABLE BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING ELSE). That is the only thing that I would recommend to anyone. Besides that buy what you want. From this moment forward in the walkthrough I will quickly say what I buy and when. You can either follow my exact example or buy whatever you want to match your playstyle. So after I go and buy all of the intel..based off what I have done so far I now have a total remaining amount of 18750. The first thing I buy is the Ammo Pouch. That leaves me with 12575. The next tihng I want is some different variations of ammo for the pistol. So I go ahead and buy: Pistol Ammo X3, Steel Core Rounds X2, and Tranquilizer Rounds X1. That leaves me with a total of 84 dollars. If you review the menu you'll notice it tells you how many you have of each item. When you buy ammo you get a good chunk of ammo. That is all I could afford so time to leave. From this moment forward you know about the black market. Throughout the rest of the game I am going to detail what I buy. You can follow along or buy your own stuff, I leave that choice to you. After your done buying you should have gotten all intel. You can find what you have bought inside your email. Just read through them all. The good part is buying all the intel is it gives you more bonus objectives...and completing those gives you more experience getting you closer to max level and more skill points to spend throughout the game. If you go into your menu you'll notice you have almost 100% intel for Al Samad which will be very helpful since that is your general target for this entire mission. "Knowing your enemy is winning half the battle" - Sun Tzu. Regardless. Go through and dig through the Intel you just received and when your done it's time to move forward. Before moving forward I added the ammo pouch to my armor mods. This way I can carry more ammo around with me. When your done with everything else then head for the front door of the safehouse. OK your given a list of missions you currently have available. You can do them in any order. It's impossible for me to write a walkthrough without picking a pre-defined order. So you can continue the walkthrough in the order I am covering them in, or you can jump around as needed to the sections dealing with each mission. Right now you should have "Bug Al-Samad Airfield", "Investigate Jizan Weapon Stockpile", and "Intercept Nasri The Arms Dealer". I am starting off my first mission with Intercept Nasri the Arms Dealer. When your ready let's get started. Intercept Nasri The Arms Dealer ------------------------------- After starting the mission you are greeted with a very short cutscene and some guards. Your first objective is to make your way through the guards. I am guessing there are a variety of options including fighting them all. My goal in this game is stealth and subterfuge...so I chose Professional which allowed me to bluff my way past the initial guards. Now this is the very first mission. Let me be very clear on a few major points here. These missions (once started) are VERY open ended. There are many different ways/tactics/paths you can choose or participate in for every single mission. It's unrealistic for me to detail out every single path or idea to clear every single mission. My objective for writing walkthroughs for these missions is to meet two objectives with this walkthrough. The first objective is to stay true to the original way I intended to play the game. When I start a game I generally decide the way I want to play from the start...especially a game with many choices. Kind of like being able to choose good/evil in a game you generally decide ahead of time. Same reason I kind of decided the weapons I wanted to use before I even started because I knew it would affect my long term skill distribution. I have decided to work this playthrough as a real secret agent. To try to use stealth, subterfuge, and whatever tactics I can to take out enemies as I go with the least possible attention to myself. My goal in all of these missions is to try to eliminate each and every enemy I can from a board as I clear missions to keep from letting them get away. My second goal is to try to do that with as little attention to myself as possible. There might be situations were I adjust my tactics but this is generally the way I am wanting to play. There may be situations were I go in with gun blazing. It's going to depend on my mood at the game of the game, as well as what is going on in the game. The second objective is to make these missions clearable as easily as possible so I can give you the easiest way to clear each mission in the most successful way possible. There are many buildings around the area and most of them you can enter. Go down the road and head through the door. Open it and go in and grab the ammo. Afterwards the alarm sounds and they know you were bluffing. After that is all over with head through the door. When you step back outside around the corner there are 3 enemies. They are already alerted to your presence. You can either kill them head on or go through the locked door and go up the ladder and kill them from above. Either way get rid of them. The building with the lock on it + the building that was behind those enemies are connected. They go around in a circle. Within those buildings you can get a weapon mod, 5000 dollars from a lockbox, and heal. You can also deactivate the alarm as well, which I highly recommend. After your done with all of this head back outside and up the stairs. Within a minute it'll trigger another save and all the progress you just cleared is now saved. At this point the alarm is off. Now all of the enemies you encounter are at a relaxed but alert state. That means you can stealth kill them. If you get one of them alerted and the signal an alarm then every single one in the area will become alerted. So try to take out as many quitely as possible. Go straight through the streets into the locked door way across the way. Make sure the guard down the street isn't watching first. Go in there and head down. You'll be able to stealth takedown a guard and move forward back until you circle around and into the town square. Stealth kill the guy in the square as he circles around. Notice now you have the ability to kill or takedown. I generally kill, depending on what type of enemies. Afterwards head through the nearest door. Right beside the door crack the safe. More money. Also grab the duffle bag out of this room. Heal if needed and head up the stairs. Once you get up the stairs head outside and kill the guard. Do not drop down outside at this point. Puts you further away from getting rid of the guard on the ledge at the opposite end. Go back through the front door and crouch down. Head all the way through the courtyard. As soon as you get to the other side hang a left and there is a door way right there that you can go into. Go in there and up the ladder. If you time it right and carefully when you come up the ladder you can get behind the guard up here and kill him quickly and easily. Around the corner you'll find some ammo in the caved in little area of the room at the end of the balcony you are walking across that you just killed the guard on. Head back towards the ladder, right on the back end before going down the ladder is more ammo. After that head back down the ladder. So that's it. Room cleared. Head back towards the court yard and into the next area. Head through the only open doorway at the end of the passage. Inside that small room, then head through the room. Move your way through the halls and rooms until you get to the bottom part of an area of stairs. Grab the ammo from underneath the stairs and start heading up. At the very top it saves you content. So all of that progress you just made is saved and finally out of the way. You are in a wide open area. This is pretty easy to clear if you do it right. First go down the ladder. Go left and kill the guard. Circle all the way around and kill another guard on the ground. Then head up the ladder and kill the guard on top of the area up there. Head back down the ladder and get behind the only remaining guard on the ground in the middle of the room and kill him. After that all enemies are dead. Go around and pick up whatever ammo is in the area. There is also an addon or something laying around the area as well. There are two things of ammo. After all of that is done head through the door at the top of the platform and it should enter you into the palace and do a little talking. Drop down and heal if you need. There is a big door and a small door. Go through the small door first. Pick the lock on the door in there and head through to get the briefcase. After that head back and go through the big door now. In this room there are two guards. Hide behind the pillar. Wait until the center guy circles around and kill him from behind and go to the other pillar on the side the other guard is patrolling. When he goes by kill him from behind as well. After all of that is done get the 1 piece of ammo somewhere in the center and head through the door to continue on. You will enter a larger armory room now. There are quite a few guards (which can all be killed with stealth), and quite a large amount of ammo. First kill the guard on the left side not too far from the door. Then climb up the ladder and kill the guard on the upper ledge. After that head around and take out the two remaining guards at the far end of the room. You can fire off the missle if you want..but all it does is alerts the guards and blows away a pillar. And you do get to hear a little funny piece of text. I did it once then reloaded. Regardless once you clear out this entire room scour the entire place. Always look everywhere in these rooms incase I Missed something. There is going to be quite a bit of ammo in this room and some of it is very special ammo. You want to try to get all of it. I didn't really inspect what all of them were but I know I saw names of some ammo I have never heard before. So make absolutely sure you clear out this entire room before you move forward. When your finally done here it's time to head through the only door. If you have been following me through the entire walkthrough as well as bought the intel when I told you too then there are a few objectives you already completed here and there is one more bonus objective you are going to complete in a minute. Either way it's time to head down towards the final area. FIrst off head down the hall and sneak into the room. These are all of Nasri's honor guards. They are pretty difficult. This is another reason I recommended NOT shooting that missle. If you did then these guys are going to be swarming you at the entrance. If you can sneak in then at the very least you can take out a few of them with stealth before having to perform a fire fight. You can probably manage to take them all out with stealth but in this room it was a little too time consuming, since a lot of them are facing each other. However if you take the time and are very careful I have NO doubt that you can get them all killed with stealth takedown. What I did was stealth the one near the entrance and sneak around to kil the second one. I also managed to take out a third. Then started a firefight when one saw a body and became alerted. Regardless there was only 2-3 left and I was able to easily take them out with my pistol (or your own weapon of choice. After they are all dead make sure you scour the area and get all the ammo in this area. NOW WAIT. OK there are two areas you can go to. Check your map. One of them leads to Nasri which ends this area, another one leads to one of the bonus objectives which gives you experience and a large stash of weaponry |
