Dead Island Question and Answers :
Playing Local Co-op

There is nothing in the book that tells me what to do. The game is supposed to have a 2-4 player LOCAL co-op. but I can’t get it to work. There are 2 profiles on my Xbox 360 hard drive, so signing to both profiles to play a game is easy, but that still doesn’t help in this case. The game visibility is set to SYSTEM LINK. It’s set like that because I don’t have Xbox live. But I can’t change it from SYSTEM LINK to LOCAL or whatever the setting is supposed to be on for 2 people to play the game on the SAME Xbox WITHOUT needing Xbox live.
Even having it on system link and setting it to have all 3 Co-op player slots open, doesn’t work. I keep seeing a notice that says;
The network connection to your Xbox 360 console has been lost. Make sure your Ethernet cable is connected properly or change your game type in the online preferences menu.
I don’t have an Ethernet cable. I don’t have Xbox Live. High Speed Internet isn’t offered in my area yet. I don’t understand why the game wont let us play a local co-op, it doesn’t make sense. There isn’t even anything telling us to “press start” on the second controller. Every other game we have that has a local co-op feature says “Press start” next to the ‘player 2’ icon. But that doesn’t even come up on this game.
If anyone can tell me what I need to do I would greatly appreciate it!!
