It doesn't exactly bridge the gap between the two games, but it does set up the events to come in Dead Rising 2. It simply follows Chuck Greene and his daughter, Katey's, pit stop at Still Creek after escaping the recent zombie outbreak in Las Vegas and gives you a small taste of what everybody loved (and hated) about the first, as well as demonstrating the new combo weapon and item system. Just like the first Dead Rising, you can play through multiple times with the stats you aquired previously. You can only reach level five, but it's enough to be very helpful in doing everything. As a bonus to those who eventually get Dead Rising 2, all levels, PP, Combo Cards, and clothes earned will be carried over onto their Dead Rising 2 file. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [#CTRL] =Controls= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the most part the controls are exactly the same as they were in the first game with the exception of a couple new additions. They are as follows. Left Stick/Right Stick: These contol Chuck's movements and camera angles, respectively. D-Pad: Left brings up your watch. It allows you to see the current time and ongoing missions/survivors. You can also set a guide arrow for a specific mission. Up puts away your currently held item or weapon. If you do not have space in your inventory or the item is too large to put away, you will drop it instead. It also zooms in when you're aiming with the Sniper Riffle. Down will cause you to drop your currently held item. It also zooms out when you're already zoomed in with the Sniper Riffle. Left/Right Bumpers: These will allow you to scroll through your item/weapon inventory. Left Trigger: When held, this enters you into aiming mode. It allows you to throw your currently held item/weapon with X or Right Trigger. If you are not holding anything you will spit instead. When holding a gun you will be able to walk and straf around while in aim mode. In conjunction with Y you can set a place marker for following survivors to run to. It reverses the bike at the end of the game. Right Trigger: In aim mode and allows you to throw or shoot your currently held item/weapon or spit if holding nothing. It accelorates the bike at the end of the game. Select: Brings up the map and shows you your current location as well as buldings, restrooms, maintenance rooms, and the spot of an active mission destination. Start: Lets you view your stats, Combo Cards, case progress, survivor notebook, help & options, tutorials, map, learderboards, achievements, and quit. It also skips cutscenes. X: You can eat food, read magazines, or attack with many items/weapons using X. Some weapons even have a stong/secondary attack when you hold it down instead. When carrying somebody X will kick. X is sometimes used to get away from a zombie pinning you down. B: Is used for opening doors, picking up items/weapons, talking to people and giving them items, and using maintenance rooms, benders, and saving. B is sometimes used to get away from a zombie pinning you down. Y: This calls out for people and tells follwoing survivors to follow you. In aim mode it drops a place mark for them to run for. It also skips through dialogue. Y is sometimes used to get away from a zombie pinning you down. A: A lets you jump. That's it. A is sometimes used to get away from a zombie pinning you down. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [#WKTH] =Walkthrough= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This main walkthrough section will guide you through the game to Ending A. Only two survivors are needed to accomplish this and at that only one of them needs to live. However, all will be included for an optimal "master file" as well as covered in their respective section [#6000]. For everything else, refer to the Table of Contents above. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [#C123] =Case 0-1 to 0-3= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We start off with Chuck and Katey stopping at a gas station in Still Creek to refill before moving on. While using the pump his watch alarm beeps reminding him that it's time for his daughter's next Zombrex injection. Afterward they enter the station to rest when suddenly his truck is stolen, along with the medecine. Chuck gives chase, but fails to catch up before the car jacker speeds off. This is when Katey spots a "man" coming near and Chuck recognizes him as a zombie, then rushes Katey back inside and barricades the door. The adventure begins. As soon as you can control Chuck you're in Case 0-1, despite being unable to view your case files. The first thing you should do is grab the Baseball Bat and the Box of Nails next to the door and constuct a Spiked Bat at the nearby maintenance table. This will give you your first Combo Card as well as one of the best weapons in the game. Next run over to the front of the store to pick up a bottle of Orange Juice just in case before heading through the junk yard. There's another small building across the junk yard that has a restroom you can save in. Do so and proceed to face the zombies outside. The goal is simple: Reach the blockade to the east. Check your map and scroll to the right. There will be a flashing question mark icon and that's your destination. For now, just ignore exploring buildings and only kill zombies on the way because the sooner you get the Zombrex, the sooner the survivors show up. Once you near the blockade there will be another cut scene of Chuck spotting an overturned ambulance in the Quarantine Zone. This ends Case 0-1 and it give you the option to save. This case is even shorter than the first. All you have to do is grab a shot of Zombrex from the ambulance and that's it. While you're in this area you may want to pick up an Assault Rifle either laying on the ground or from one of the zombified soldiers wandering around. Once you search the ambulance and find your Zombrex, you overhear the radio on the dead soldier. Reinforcements are coming by nightfall, so now you have two deadlines: Give Katey her Zombrex between 7:00-8:00PM and get out of Still Creek before 9:00PM. Chuck finds a broken up motor bike that he can fix and thus starts Case 0-3. Case 0-3 is just as simple than the last. Grab the cart with B and with X charge ahead back to the Gas Station. Nothing more. However this isn't a bad opportunity to rack up some zombie kills for some PP and the Zombie Hunter and Exterminator achievements, but there are much more effective ways to accomplish these, so for now, just stick to the case. Back inside Chuck is making a check list of items he needs to repair the bike. Meanwhile Katey isn't feeling well and wants more medecine, despite fighting it in the beginning. Chuck tells her it's still too early because a pre-emptive dosage can be fatal. She then wonders if he can fix the bike and he assures her that, "Daddy can fix anything." [#CAS4] =Case 0-4= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the final case and the longest, spanning the entire game if you get the first three out of the way from the start. It's a good idea to build a fresh Spiked Bat and pick up another bottle of Orange Juice if you had to use the one from before. Leave the Gas Station and junk yard like you did the first time and you'll be treated to another cut scene of Chuck stepping on a Queen and killing all the zombies around him. When it finishes, the entire game is open to you now. Some zombies will now have Queens on their necks, which you can catch after killing the zombie they're on. These are great for clearing out large groups of zombies at once. Also, now that there are no more cut scenes from leaving the Gas Station, you can now take the roof exit. You can find that in the back room of the front area of the Gas Station. Not only is this a quicker alternative to leave after droping off a bike part, but there is also a Sniper Riffle that can be very helpful later on. Most importantly, survivors appear. Two of them are pertinent to fixing the bike and another is very helpful to achieveing that goal and helping another survivor. They also give large amounts of PP. So let's get going. Probably the first thing you'll notice is a man standing on top of a van with a mob of zombies around him. This is Dick, the owner of the Pawnshop, and neccessary to getting Ending A. You could find a Queen to take all the zombies out at once, but there aren't that many, so a Spiked Bat and/or an Assault Rifle should suffice. Once they're gone, talk to him twice to get him to lead you to the Pawnshop, then talk to him twice more when he stops to have him open it. This is as far as he goes, there is no way to make him return to the Gas Station with you. Inside you'll be able to buy various items and weapons, but all of them can be found elsewhere for free. The only things that matter are the Wheel for $5000 and the Zombrex for $25,000. He'll also sell you information regarding the whereabouts of other Bike Parts, but that's not needed when using a guide. If you happen to already have $30,000 from a previous game go ahead and buy the Wheel and Zombrex, otherwise head back out. [#WSLS] =Win Some Lose Some= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now you'll notice a man on top of the corner building across the street shooting zombies. This is Bob and he'll be your Otis for this game, though nowhere near as annoying. He won't come back with you to the Gas Station Safe House because he's looking for his daughter, so until then he'll let you know if he sees anybody else by waving is arms and calling out to you. To even reach him, head to the alley to the left of the building and climb up on the dumpster. Continue up until you make it on the roof. Talk to him a few times and right away he'll tell you about a couple who entered the bar. Before you visit them there are a couple of things you should to do for later that start by being on this roof. Head back past Bob's umbrella until you see the fire escape to the bulding across the alley. Jump from the roof to it and head inside the Still Creek Hotel. Run down the hall and take a right into the room around the corner. In here you'll find the Key Item Shed Key. Now head back into the hall and jump up through one of the windows back onto the rooftops. Look left and you'll see a bridge across to another roof. Hang right and drop down on the awning ahead and then back up on another roof at the other end. Turn left and you'll see an opening, drop down to get inside Bob's Fish 'n Hunt. There are some useful weapons in here like Broadswords, Shotguns, and Assault Rifles. Unlock the door from the inside and now you can come and go as you please. Now trek across the street to The Dirty Drink and meet Gemini and Fausto. Talk to Gemini a couple times and she'll join you, but Fausto will need a little coaxing. He wants a drink, but you don't have to travel far since this is, after all, a bar. Give him a Beer, then a second, and after the throws up he'll agree to come with you. It shouldn't be too hard to get them back to the Gas Station. When you do, Gemini will reward you with $15,000 from their winnings in Vegas. [#FBPS] =Find Bike Parts= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It'll be a bit before the next survivors show up, so now's a good time to hunt for Bike Parts. After you leave the Gas Station you'll notice Gemini standing in the junk yard crying. Re-enter and talk to her and she'll want you to find her Gems she dropped near the blockade. Before you do, though, make a couple stops first. After leaving the Gas Station again, head to the pumps and find the Gasoline Canister. This is your first Bike Part. Now run over to Uncle Bill's Department Store and grab two cartons of Milk, then exit through the side door and enter The Dirty Drink from behind. Use the blender to mix the two Milks together and get a Quick Step, but don't drink it yet. Return to the Department Store for two more cartons of Milk for another Quick Step. Now drink one of them and sprint to the blockade. You'll find Gemini's Gems on the passenger side of the yellow car with the missing door. Use them as a weapon if you want, but just make sure you have at least one left. On your way back unlock the Locked Shed near Big Buck Hardware to find the Bike Forks. Your first Quick Step should be wearing out or gone by now, so drink your second one and take the Forks back to the Gas Station. They're heavy and slow your movement when carrying them, so the Quick Step makes returning them more tolerable. For the Gems Gemini will give you another $15,000 and some bonus PP. After dropping off the Bike Forks and Gasoline Canister, return to the Department Store and Dirty Drink to make another Quick Step. This time you're going to the Still Creek Movie Theater. In the seating area exit the Theater from the locked door on the side. Here in this alley is the Engine, so just like the Bike Forks drink the Quick Step and take it back to the Gas Station. If you haven't already gotten the Zombrex and Wheel from Dick's Pawnshop, take your newly aquired $30,000 and do that now. Afterward you will need only one more Bike Part, but it won't turn up until later. You should have some spare time to kill now, so just take the time to level up some if you need to. An I.E.D with a Combo Card and the Paddlesaw are good weapons to use on the large mob in front of the Gas Station for some fast experience. Also don't forget about the Queens to help you reach zombie kill milestones. And if you need the Locksmitch achievement, you can use this time to unlock the Sheriff's Office to get it. You have until 1:00PM when the next survivors show up. [#TMOA] =The Morning After= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At 1:00PM the next group of survivors appear, but you must leave the Gas Station in order for them to load. They will not spawn if you're wandering around outside. Bob sees a couple girls in the Bowling Alley, but you don't need to speak to him. Just head on over and they'll be there, saving you a climb. These are Tia and Nikki, but there's a third girl, Sharon, that they won't leave without. They inform you that she's still in the Quarantine Zone. Enter the Quarantine Zone and check your map to see which tent she is in. Talk to her a few times and she'll ask for some Zombrex. You have two now, so give her one and she'll follow you. However, she can't walk very well, so you'll have to carry her. Luckily, when you're carrying someone zombies can't grab you, so just plow on through back to the Bowling Alley. With Sharon literally in hand the other two will gladly return to the Gas Station with you. [#HAWC] =Handle With Care= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At 3:00PM Jason and Archie appear behind the Department Store. Remember to enter and exit the Gas Station to get them to spawn. It's best to take a Queen with you to dispatch the zombies they're fighting without risk of injuring them. You also need to take along a Broadsword that you can pick up from Bob's Fish 'n Hunt. Jason is using a set of Handle Bars to ward of zombies, the final Bike Part you need. He won't give it up unless you give him a Broadsword. Once you do, the Handle Bars are yours and they'll follow you back to the Gas Station. You finished the bike, but you still can't leave until you give Katey her Zombrex, so you may have some time to kill until 7:00. Go out, unlock doors, kill zombies, and level up. Better than sitting around doing nothing. [#GKTZ] =Give Katey Zombrex= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7:00PM and time for Katey's Zombrex, but not just yet. First, talk to Bob to finish rescuing the survivors. There will be a cut scene showing nightfall, so this time you don't have to bother entering and leaving the Gas Station. You also have to talk to Bob this time. He'll tell you he finally saw his daughter, Darcie, in the Fish 'n Hunt and wants you to check on her. Do so, but she won't go anywhere with you without her father. Climb back up on the roof, fetch Bob, and take him back to the store. They hug and she'll join you back to the Gas Station. That completes all of the survivors. Just one more thing to tackle. One more thing to do before giving Katey her medecine. You shouldn't have much time left, so be quick. First, take the roof exit from the Gas Station and grab that Sniper Rifle. Then return inside the same way and make a new Spiked Bat. Finally, fill the rest of your inventory spaces with Orange Juice. Now give her the Zombrex. Another cut scene will play and here you learn that it was Katey's mother, turned into a zombie, that bit her. Chuck defends her memory by saying it was only sombody that looked like her when the owner of the Gas Station appears behind him. He's enjoying the zombie outbreak a bit too much and after learning that Katey is infected as well, wants to add her to his "collection." The argument continues out in the junk yard where you face this game's psychopath, Jed. The safest method I found is staying behind cover while popping out to shoot Jed once or twice with the Sniper Rifle. If you go for two shots, odds are you will get hit by his Boomstick fire, but it does little damage. If you only brought one Orange Juice you should be fine, but more is better just in case. Just continue shooting him, ajusting your position when neccessary, and you should be able to finish him off with the Sniper Rifle alone. If not, he shouldn't have much health left and you can finish him off with the Spiked Bat with ease as his two close range attacks aren't very devestating either. [#MIAR] =Military Arrival= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the fight with Jed crunched under a car, it time to leave Still Creek. First, if you have time, save just in case. Go to the bike and select it and another scene will play with the military appearing and ordering Chuck and his daughter to stop. Instead, you're going to race past them all. The path to follow is spelled out for you, so just try you best not to get hung up on corners. The Right Trigger will accelerate the bike and Left Trigger will reverse. While you're escaping you can hit soldiers for 1000PP a pop in case you haven't reached level 5 yet. Make it past all the blockades and to the tunnel and you've finished the game with Ending A. A final scene will play with Chuck coming across his stolen truck. He takes the time to get his jacket from DR2, the rest of the Zombrex, and a photo of Katey before riding off again. After the credits you'll have the option to save and the file will be ready for DR2. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [#WPIT] =Weapons and Items= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This section will cover all notible items and weapons. Specifically those with stong/alternate attacks and special uses, as well combo weapons and mix drinks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boradsword: These have a three strike combo attack that can eliminate a wide area of zombies. Found on the floor of the Ed's Friendly Barber Shop. Queen: A wasp that kills multiple zombies instantly. Found on some zombies after you return the broken bike to the Gas Station. When used at night it also releases glowing green parasitic larva that can harm you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [#COSC] =Combo/Scratch Cards= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are two differences between Combo Cards and Scratch Cards. First, the PP you get from Scratch Cards is not as significant as that of Combo Cards. Two, Scratch Card combinations do not have a strong attack. You must obtain the combo's Combo Card in order to use it. There are a total of nine combinations to find in Case Zero. If you have the Combo Card for a weapon, the wrench icon on your combo items will flash when they're in close proximity to the other item needed to craft. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spiked Bat: Kills multiple zombies for 50PP each. Strong attack nails a single zombie in the head for 200PP. You can buy one in the Pawn Shop for $2500. Items: To craft a Spiked Bat you'll need a Baseball Bat and a Box of Nails. Box of Nails can be found in Big Buck Hardware as well as all maintenance rooms. See the previous section for Baseball Bat locations. Card: You earn the Spiked Bat's Combo Card as soon as you craft your first one. Molotav: Ignites and kills zombies for 175PP. With a Combo Card, 350PP each. Best used on large mobs. Items: A Newspaper and a bottle of Wiskey will craft one. Both items are found in numerous locations. Card: You earn this item's Scratch Card by crafting your first one. You can get the Combo Card at level up if you already have the Drill Bucket and I.E.D Combo Cards from previous level ups. Drill Bucket: Instantly kills a single zombie for 250PP. With the Combo Card it will earn you 500PP. One can be bought in the Pawn Shop for $2500. Items: You need a Power Drill and a Bucket to make one. Drills can be found in Big Buck Hardware and Buckets are found in Uncle Bill's Department Store, as well as scattered around town. Card: You can get the Scratch Card if you make one before getting the Combo Card from leveling up. I.E.D: Kill zombies for 50PP. With a Combo Card you will get 100PP. Strong attack pins the I.E.D for 50PP and detonating it will kill all surounding zombies for 300PP each. Items: A Propane Tank and Box of Nails. Propane Tanks are found primarily around the Gas Station. One, along with nails, can be found in the hardware store's maintenance room. Card: You can get the Scratch Card if you craft one before getting the Combo Card from leveling up. Beer Hat: Heals Chuck's life by two blocks. It is not affected by Magazine (Health 1). If used too many times it will have the same effect as any other alcohol, making Chuck sick. Items: Only one Construction Hat can be found on the roof across the street from Uncle Bill's Department Store. They respawn when you enter and leave the Gas Station. Beer is absolutely everywhere. Together they form a Beer Hat. Card: Only the Scratch Card can be obtained by crafting your first. No Combo Card is available in Case Zero. Electric Rake: Zaps to death a single zombie for 250PP. If multiple zombies are touching the electric current will travel among them. One can be bought in the Pawn Shop for $5000. Items: Leaf Rakes are found in Big Buck Hardware. The only Battery can be found in the dead end alley to the left, right before the blockade at the Quarantine Zone. Card: The Scratch Card is made by making your first one, but there is no Combo Card vailable in Case Zero. Air Horn: Causes the heads of nearby zombies to explode for 250PP each. Items: Green Spray Paint is found in the alley behind the Sheriff's Office. Purple Spray Paint is on the Gas Station Roof. The color doesn't matter, however. Pylons (traffic cones) are found near the Still Creek Movie Theater and the Quarantine Zone. Card: Just the Scratch Card can be made by crafting your first Air Horn. No Combo Card is available in Case Zero. Paddlesaw: Mows down zombies for 125PP each. Items: There is only one Paddle next to the building across from the Gas Station exit. It can respawn by entering and leaving the Gas Station. Two Chainsaws are in Big Buck Hardware. Card: You can only get the Scratch Card from making your first one. The Combo Card is not available in Case Zero. Boomstick: Impales and shoots a zombie for 100PP and an additional 100PP for any other zombie caught in the blast. With the Combo Card it will earn you 200PP. The strong attack lifts a zombie up blasting it apart for a whopping 2500PP. The three shots fired actually use three shots of ammo. Items: A Shotgun is found upstairs in the Sheriff's Office as well as two in Bob's Fish 'n Hunt. A Pitchfork is in The Dirty Drink and more can be found in Big Buck Hardware. Jed will also drop his Boomstick to use after you defeat him. Card: You will get the Scratch Card when you make one before fighting Jed. You get the Combo Card after beating him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [#MXDK] =Mixed Drinks= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can mix together two of any food or drink item with the blender in Momma's Diner or The Dirty Drink. The result is a special drink that restores health as well as give you an added effect that lasts several seconds. There are more than one way to make any of these drinks. Drink effects DO stack and are listed in the bottom right corner of the screen. When an effect is about to wear off the name begins to flash. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Repulse - Chili + Onion Rings Chili + Hot Dog Hot Dog + Large Soda Effect: Drinking this will make zombies completely ignore you for a several seconds. Quick Step - Milk + Milk Milk + Snack Effect: Drinking this will make you run especially fast for several seconds. Pain Killer - Beer + Beer Whiskey + Whiskey Effect: Increases your defense against attacks. Randomizer - Beer + Whiskey Spoiled Hot Dog + Beer Milk + Cooking Oil Spoiled Hot Dog + Spoiled Hot Dog Large Soda + Beer Cooking Oil + Large Drink Effect: Drinking this will cause you to get sick, the same effect as too many alcoholic drinks. On the up side it leaves a few spots for zombies to slip and fall in. Untouchable - Snack + Large Soda Hot Dog + Hot Dog Ketchup + Onion Rings Bacon + Milk Pie + Pie Effect: Zombies cannot grab you while under the effect of this drink. Nectar - Orange Juice + Beer Orange Juice + Orange Juice Milk + Orange Juice Orange Juice + Mustard Effect: When a Queen is flying around, drinking a Nectar will cause it to follow you. It lasts quite a bit longer than other mix drinks. Spitfire - Bacon + Onion Rings Snack + Snack Large Soda + Large Soda Ketchup + Mustard Effect: When in aim mode and not holding any items, your spit will turn into a burst of fire, igniting and killing the zombie hit by it. Zombait - Jellybeans + Jellybeans Jellybeans + Large Drink Jellybeans + Hot Dog Milk + Mustard Effect: Lures zombies to you. Energizer - Nectar + Spitfire Effect: This appears to only heal Chuck. Testing in the original Dead Rising revealed that it heals ten units of health, much more than needed in Case Zero. The "effect" also wears off much too quickly for any actual effect to be useful. Considering the mix for Energizer in the original is different than this game, any effect it may or may not have could differ as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [#STBD] =Stores and Buildings= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each building has a variety of useful items and clothes and some aren't even open to you until you find another way in. Each building is covered in detail in this section. Opening every locked door in town will also net you an achievement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brocket Gas Station - Safe House "Whether you need a fill up or a full on repair, Brockett's got you covered." This is your main base of operations, where you bring survivors to safty, treat your daughter, and repair the bike for your escape. Here you can craft weapons, most noteably Spiked Bats, heal up with Snacks and Orange Juice, and return your clothes to default with the cabinet next to the door to the junk yard. Across the junk yard is a smaller building with a restroom to save and the main exit to the rest of town. You have access to the roof from the Gas Station store front which has a couple uncommon items/weapons, Purple Spray Paint and a Sniper Rifle, as well as another exit after a certain point in the game. Many if the items found are constuction types such as Box of Nails, 2x4, Sledge Hammer, and Saw Blades. You'll also find a good number of Propane Tanks. Sheriff's Office - Services "The next town safety meeting will be held in 3 weeks. All are welcome to attend." You'll find many Nightsticks and Flashlights here, but more importantly you'll find guns. A few Handguns are here, but upstairs there is a Shotgun. Even more numerous than guns are bottles of Whiskey. There are a few Newspapers as well, which makes this an ideal spot to stock up if you want to craft some Molotovs. The front door is locked, but if you go down the street past the Pawnshop, you will find a dumpster next to the Bowling Alley that you can use to hop the fence to the back alley. Here you can find the only other can of Spray Paint. You can then enter from the back door and unlock it from the inside. Still Creek Pawnshop - Pawnshop "Owner Dick Jones is always ready to cash you out on a great deal!" The Pawnshop can only be unlocked by rescuing and escorting Dick back. Then his store will be open for you to buy a variety of items, most importantly a Wheel and Zombrex. He also sells guns, a few combo weapons, and even a Moosehead. Not on display is information. For a price he will give you hints to the whereabouts of the Bike Forks and Engine. Wheel - $5000 Zombrex - $25,000 Drill Bucket - $2500 Spiked Bat - $2500 Handgun - $500 Assault Riffle - $1000 Moosehead - $500 Electric Rake - $5000 Bike Part Hint 1 - $1000 Bike Part Hint 2 - $2500 Spending $100,000 over the course of all your games will unlock an achievement. Grumpy Dog Bowling Alley - Sports "When you're looking for wholesome family entertainment, you could do a lot worse than bowling." The dominant items here, of course, are Bowling Balls and Bowling Pins. Near the kitchen area are some scattered Beers as well. Next to the door there are three vending machines you can buy Snacks from, or break open for $100 each. Behind the counter there are two lockers, one that gives you White Tennis Shoes and another a Bowling Shirt. This is also where you meet Tia and Nikki, who wait for you to find Sharon. Big Buck Hardware - Hardware "Let us help you with any 'fix-er-up' project. We've been doing it since 1964." Like the Gas Station, most of the items here are construction based. Most importantly it has Chainsaws for the Paddlesaw and Pitchforks for Boomsticks. It also has Leaf Rakes and is nearby the only Battery in the game, so the maintenance room next door is the quickest place to make an Electric Rake. In fact, with a Baseball Bat and Bucket outside, plenty of Box of Nails, and a Propane Tank in the Maintenance Room, this is by far the best place overall for crafting many of the combo weapons. For dress, you'll also find the Overalls in the corner next to the Power Drills. Still Creek Casino - Casino "Playing cards in a small town still pays off big!" Not many items are found here outside of Casino Chips and Playing Cards. The main focus here is the slot machines. Play them if you want, but breaking them gives you $300 a piece. Not to mention the ATMs that drop $500 each and the cash laying around on the floor. There's also a Cash Register in the corner to break open for the usual $400. Still Creek Hotel This is not marked on the map, but it's situated between Still Creek Casino and Momma's Diner. The first floor can be accessed through an open window from the front, but the best you'll find in there is an Assault Rifle and a Chef Knife. Upstairs is more important as the Shed Key can be found in one of the rooms and it's the path taken to eventually reach and unlock Bob's Fish 'n Hunt. The second floor can only be accessed from the roof where Bob resides. In one of the rooms on the second floor you can find a Black Cowboy Hat to wear. Momma's Diner - Food "The grills are greased and ready to serve up the best in homestyle cooking!" There are a few food items here, but the main attraction is the blender. It is here than you can mix useful drinks like the Quick Step. There is also a restroom to save your game and a Diner Waitress outfit to wear. For some easy experience, heat a Pan on the stove top for 1000PP. Don't forget the slot machines for some quick cash. Bob's Fish 'n Hunt - Hunting "The only thing better than hauling in a 22 pounds bass is downing a 300 pound deer! Either way we've got everything you need." This will be one of, if not the, most visited store for weapons. You can grab Broadswords, Bow and Arrows, Bowie Knives, Shotguns, Handguns, Assault Rifles, and a Moosehead. One the rack next to the swords you can find a Hunting Jacket to wear. Refer to the Walkthrough section "Win Some Lose Some" [#WSLS] above for directions to entering and unlocking the store. The Dirty Drink - Drink "Out in the country, real men drink beer and whiskey. At The Dirty Drink, that's all we serve, and you're gonna like it." About all you'll find here is Beer and Whiskey, but there is another blender to be found. There are two Guitars to smash zombies with as well as a Pitchfork next to the front door. Near that is a White Cowboy Hat to wear. Like Momma's Diner, you can also heat a Pan for 1000PP. The back kitchen door leads to a small alley with a side door into Uncle Bill's Department Store. Uncle Bill's Department Store - Convenience "Uncle Bill has everything you need to make it through a day in Still Creek... and maybe even a bit more." This store has a nice selection of drink items that makes blending next door at The Dirty Drink much faster, such as Milk, Orange Juice, and Whiskey. For fun there are some sports items like Footballs, Lawn Darts, and Bowling Balls. Plus Servbot Masks and Stick Ponies It carries a fair amount of combo items like Propane Tanks, Box of Nails, Buckets, and Leaf Rakes. In the back next to the restroom to save is a Fire Extinguisher that can freeze zombies solid to be shattered by other means. Also near the restroom are three slot machines to break. Near the back door are three peices of cloting to wear. The Plaid Suit, White Cowboy Hat, and Ladies Hat. On the front counter is the Magazine (Building) item that is useful for extending the life of construction type items. Attached to the side is another maintenance room. Still Creek Movie Theater - Entertainment "This month's special feature from the archives: O'Bold and the Midnight Raiders." Not much of anything is here except for some scattered food and drink items. There is a side door that can be unlocked from the inside that leads to an alley with the Engine you need for the bike. There are also eight slot machines waiting to be busted open. Ed's Friendly Barber Shop - Beautification "From beard trims to hair cuts, let Ed hendle it the old fashioned way." Little is found here as well. On the floor you can find some Scissors and Shower Heads, but mainly the Magazine (Health 1) book. You can also change your hair style to a Mohawk using any of the barber chairs. Quarantine Zone Like the Still Creek Hotel, this is also not marked on map by name. It has eight tents, all of which more or less hold the same things. Usually some Whiskey, Foot Lockers, Water Coolers, and Snacks. Around outside you can find some zombified soldiers carrying Assault Rifles. This is where you'll find a free dosage of Zombrex for Katey and the broken bike, as well as Sharon in one of the tents. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [#CTHS] =Clothes= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clothes are a way to change your appearance in the Dead Rising games and can be found in numorous locations. Each set of cloting is mentioned in the Stores and Buldings section, but this section is a way to locate them a little quicker. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To return to Chuck's default appearance, select the cabinet in the Gas Station garage. Hats and Hair Mohawk - Barber chairs in Ed's Friendly Barber Shop Black Cowboy Hat - Upstairs in the rightmost room of the Still Creek Hotel White Cowboy Hat - In The Dirty Drink or Uncle Bill's Department Store Ladies Hat - In Uncle Bill's Department Store Tops and Bottoms Bowling Shirt - Grumpy Dog Bowling Alley Plaid Suit - Uncle Bill's Department Store Diner Waitress - Momma's Diner Overalls - Big Buck Hardware Hunting Jacket - Bob's Fish 'n Hunt Shoes White Tennis Shoes - Grumpy Dog Bowling Alley ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [#SUVS] =Survivors= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are twelve survivors that can be logged into your notebook, including Chuck's daughter, Katey, who is marked as safe from the start. Nine others can be brought to safty at the Gas Station, one can only be listed as located, and the final is a psychopath. Few have to be rescued to finish with Ending A, but all are a good source of PP, plus rescuing survivors is part of what Dead Rising is all about. There are six possible states that survivors can achieve: Located, safe, dead, lost, turned, and defected. Located means their whereabouts are known and they are alive. Safe is when they are sucessfully escorted to the Gas Station. Dead is self explanatory, lost is when their whereabouts are lost track of, and turned when they have been infected by a zombie. These last three are grouped together on the notebook screen. An unlisted status, defected, occurs when a certain criteria has been met to cause survivors to turn on you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 001 Jed Wright At the top of your notebook list is most likey the final survivor you'll encounter and the only one that has to die. He appears when you give Katey her Zombrex between 7:00-8:00PM and after finding out that Katey is infected will want to kill her like the many other zombies around. Notes: Manditory for the story's completion. Deafeating him earns you the Boomstick Combo Card, as well as a Boomstick. Notebook Descrption: Underskilled mechanic for town of Still Creek. Lifelong hunter always looking for new trophies. 002 Archie Eaton Archie appears at 3:00PM behind Uncle Bill's Department Store along with Jason. Notes: None. Notebook Description: Bailed too many times without a helmet. Found behind Bill's Department Store. 003 Bob Blackrock Bob appears on the corner roof top across from the Gas Station after you successfully escort Dick to his Pawn Shop. He will remain up there until he finds his daughter at 7:00PM. Until then he will reveal the location of other survivor's he spots. Notes: If he dies you will be unable to spawn and rescue his daughter, Darcie. |
