In order to contract the vampire disease, sanguinare vampiris, you need to find a vampire
and let it cast its vampire drain on you. That spell has about a 10% chance of inflicting
you with the disease. If you want to speed up the process break the line of sight between
you and the vampire, and keep your distance, that way it will continuously cast the spell
on you effectively increasing your chances of getting diseased.
Once you have contracted sanguinare vampiris you need to wait 3 days, without curing the
disease of course. After 3 days you will become a stage one vampire.
As to where to find vampires they are found in caves all over skyrim, off the top of my
head i can only think of 3 caves occupied by vampires. 1- broken fang cave sww of
whiterun. 2- shriekwind bastion north of falkreath. 3- bloodlet throne sw of helgen. There
are many more however.
There are also quests involving vampires. Those that come to mind are:
A daedra's best friend: to start this quest visit falkreath and talk to lod the
blacksmith, by then the quest should be added to your journal simply activate it and
follow the quest markers. The quest will lead you to a nest of vampires. The dog, barbas,
however might engage them in combat reducing your chances of contracting the disease.
Laid to rest: to start this quest you need to ask the jarl of morthal about the burnt down
house. If the option is not available in the dialogue options go to the inn and learn
about the fire there. Eventually you'll play "hide & seek" with a little girl, to find her
look a little bit north of the burnt down house to find the girl's coffin. You'll also
encounter 2 vampires which you'll need to kill to complete this quest.
Trouble in skyrim: these quests are given to you by the companions and are radiant quests.
Meaning its objective is random, but sometimes you'll be asked to clear out a vampire
Some silver hand members are also vampires but they tend to engage you in melee combat and
since you cannot contract the disease simply by them hitting you, it needs to be the
spell, it might in fact be too much effort to get them to use the vampire drain on you.

rid of the werewolf and get the vampire disease any advice on how to do so? I have already
become leader of the companions but as to what to do from there i have no idea.

If you already left ysgramor's tomb after curing kodlak there is only one other way of
curing your lycanthropy. You'll need to acquire 2 maybe 3 other glenmoril witches heads.
With the heads in your inventory speak with farkas or vilkas about companion jobs this
should trigger a quest in which they too wish to be cured of their beast form. Travel once
again with one of them (possibly both) as your follower(s) to ysgramor's tomb and repeat
the ritual to cure your companion's lycanthropy. Once you have defeated their beast form
try to activate the flame again. You'll need a witch's head for each companion, including
yourself, you wish to cure. Once your companion(s) is(are) cured activate the flame again
and sacrifice another head to the flame, after you defeat your own beast form you'll be
cured. If you have an extra head you can do this while curing kodlak, once you leave the
tomb you have to trigger the "purify" quest otherwise nothing will happen at the flame.
Notes: once you cure yourself of lycanthropy you cannot be a werewolf in that particular
playthrough ever again.
Only farkas and vilkas wish to be cured, these are your only other opportunities to cure
yourself. If both companions are cured and you still haven't cured yourself, once you
leave ysgramor's tomb you'll be a werewolf for the remainder of that playthrough.
Curing yourself also means losing the ability to enter the underforge, a minor
It is unclear if you need to cure both companions before you can cure yourself. Either
you'll need to cure each one, one at a time or both will meet you at the tomb or one will
follow you and the other will meet you at the tomb. I really don't know. I've never done
it this way, i've always cured it at the same time as i cured kodlak. So to be sure
collect 3 witches heads and make a hard save file in case things go awry and you need to

Actually i dont know if its a bug in my game but i was able to cure myself without been on
the quest and i had already left the tomb. Just dont drop a head and you can cure yourself
unless its something wrong with my game.
