The background will always be displayed with a bluish tint while Rick is in Berserker mode. A total of five Foot Soldiers (small lizard demons with spikes on their body) will attack from the start. Rick cannot be hurt while in Berserker mode so the Foot Soldiers are pretty much Rick's bitches at the moment. They will help a player to learn Rick's basic moves while in berserker mode. Tapping the light attack button (X/S) several times in a row will make Rick perform a combo and tapping the heavy attack button (Y/T) will make him perform a ground pound, which can be charged. Press the grab button (B/O) to grab an enemy and kill it. Hold the sprint button (RT/R1) to run. Rick can jump (A/X) into the air and perform attacks by pressing light or heavy attack also. Rick will gain the blood of all of the Foot Soldiers that are defeated. He can use that blood later to power up from the Extra Skills menu. The Extra Skills menu cannot be pulled up until after phase 1 is finished. Kill the Foot Soldiers until a cutscene plays. The blood from all the carnage that just took place will be all over the floors of the front lobby as control is given back to the player. Jennifer will scream off in the distance. Press D-pad Up to activate the Mask Eye when prompted. The mask eye ability will allow a player to see the next area to move on to during gameplay. The view will highlight a door upstairs. Run up the right set of stairs. Rick will be able to destroy several breakable objects such as small tables and vases along the way to his destination. They will not hold anything for the moment. Eventually the Terror Mask will speak with Rick. Run toward the closed door on the far side of the second floor walkway and it will open once Rick steps near it. A checkpoint will occur once a player steps onto the dark stairway behind the door. Rick will return to the last checkpoint reached if he dies has to continue. The game offers multiple continues. -- CHECKPOINT! -- WEST MANSION - Dark Hallway --------------------------- The wooden walls to the left will break as Rick moves up the stairs. Foot Soldiers will move by the windows at the top of the stairs and the door at the end will open as Jennifer screams once Rick approaches the door. WEST MANSION - Guest Room ------------------------- Two Foot Soldiers will bust through the windows on the right side of the next room. The game will go through combat descriptions for the battles that take place in the room. Tap the X/S button to perform light attacks and tap the Y/T button to perform heavy attacks. With default skills, Rick can perform four light attacks in a row for a combination attack. He can perform two heavy punches in a row and charge each heavy punch for extra damage. When an enemy glows yellow, that is the enemy that is currently targeted - this will occur during charge moves. Whenever an enemy glows red, Rick can grab that enemy with the grab button (B/O) and perform a splatter kill. Splatterkills will allow Rick to earn extra blood from killing the enemy. Rick will enter one of several animations to begin a splatterkill and the left thumbstick/analog directions on the screen must be held in order to complete the splatterkill. If the splatterkill is not completed, the enemy will knock Rick off and recharge its health a bit. Rick will have to weaken the enemy some more in order to have a chance to try another splatterkill. A player will gain an achievement/trophy for performing one splatterkill and others for performing more splatterkills as the game progresses. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- The Business of Killing Perform 1 Splatterkill. -- South of Hell Perform 75 Splatterkills. -- Vigorous Vengeance Perform 150 Splatterkills. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The combo Light, Light, charge Heavy, charge Heavy seems to work very well for Foot Soldiers that are grouped. The Light hits will stun surrounding Foot Soldiers and set them up for the charged Heavy attacks which will damage them. Rick can also grab one of them and a player can hold the heavy button while facing another Foot Soldier to make Rick kick the grabbed Foot Soldier toward the others for extra damage. Rick will begin to have wounds on his body that will show his bones if enemies hit him. If Rick ever gets low in life, he will have to use his Splatter Siphon to absorb the blood of his enemies in order to regain his life. Press the Mask Moves Modifier button (LT/L1) + Grab button (B/O) to activate the splatter siphon. A splatter siphon will take one unit from the necro gauge. The necro gauge will constantly refill with each kill however so he should have plenty by the time he needs it for now. NOTE: Rick must be at about 25% health to get the tutorial message for the splattersiphon. He must get this tutorial message in order to perform it for the first time during this battle. NOTE 2: Rick can use splatter siphon to regenerate even when enemies are not around. He will gain less health while enemies are not around since there is not as much blood to absorb however. By performing the Splatter Siphon, a player will gain an achievement/trophy: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- Flesh Re-animation! Regenerate with Splatter Siphon - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Finish off the remaining Foot Soldiers in the room then the battle will end and the next door will open. Search the room for the first **GRAMOPHONE (1/12)** to the left where Rick first entered the room. Press the grab button while standing near it to play it. Exit the room by stepping through the opposite door. -- CHECKPOINT! -- WEST MANSION - Hallway with Stairs ---------------------------------- The door will close behind Rick as he steps into the hall ahead. Move ahead and collect **JEN'S PHOTO (1/4)** to the right of the left staircase up ahead. A cutscene will take place after Rick grabs the photo. It turns out that his girlfriend is the type of person that will leave behind torn-apart nude photos of herself for her lover to find. Must. Find. Jen. Move down the stairs off to the left then step into the room through the doorway at the bottom after the door opens. WEST MANSION - Living Room -------------------------- Dr. West has Jennifer in his clutches up ahead. Move further into the room and a cutscene will play. The wall where Dr. West and Jennifer were will seal off and a fire will spring up in front of it. Deadmen will crawl down the walls and attack after the cutscene. These enemies can group up on Rick quite a bit. They all have long fingernails that they will slice Rick with. Rick can kill Deadmen very easily with a single grab. If he stands near two Deadmen when the grab button is pressed, he will pick them both up. One grab will make Rick grab each one by the head then slam it to the ground and kill them instantly in a nice splatter of blood! A few punches will also kill any of the Deadmen off. After finishing off the Deadmen, Rick will have to exit the room by stepping through the door on the right side. He can't follow Dr. West and Jennifer for now. -- CHECKPOINT! -- WEST MANSION - Dark Hallway 2 ----------------------------- The camera will eventually switch and show Dr. West through the hole in the wall ahead. Move up the stairs to the right. The door at the top of the stairs will close. The Terror Mask will tell Rick to break through. Any time that an object has a shiny appearance (a glint), Rick can interact with it in some way. Stand in front of the door so that the button prompt appears then press the grab button to kick the door open. WEST MANSION - Room with Fireplace ---------------------------------- Run over to the shiny weapon that is sticking in the piece of the Corrupted body that is on the floor then press D-pad down to pick up the 2x4 weapon. A cutscene will trigger that will show Foot Soldiers as they enter the room while some animal heads on the wall mounts begin to laugh. Hmm, a 2x4 and a group of enemies that could be splatted across the wall with it - what would Rick do? Rick can perform a combination of two light swings while holding the 2x4. Each hit will likely splat a Foot Soldier into the wall. Rick can also perform a heavy attack swing that can be charged for greater damage. A player will easily get the following achievement/trophy for splatting an enemy against a wall during this battle. All it takes is just a light attack swing then the enemy must hit a wall: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- You Got Red on You Splat an enemy on a wall with a weapon. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The current room can be a bit dangerous since it is so small. Be sure to watch Rick's health closely and perform his splatter siphon to regain health quickly when needed. The fireplace will eventually go out after a certain amount of Foot Soldiers have been killed. The heads hanging on the wall mounts will stop laughing and the wall behind the fireplace will open. Quickly run through the secret opening in the wall when it opens. If Rick takes too long, the opening will close and the fire will start back up. He will have to fight more Foot Soldiers to make it open again. There is nothing that can be gained from fighting tons of Foot Soldiers in the current room. Rick will stop receiving blood eventually. It will still flow into his body, but he won't be able to farm blood in this room since the blood counter will stop increasing eventually. NOTE: Rick can pick up Foot Soldiers with the grab button then kick them into the fireplace with a heavy attack to instantly kill them. He can knock them into the fireplace with normal attacks as well. -- CHECKPOINT! -- WEST MANSION - Hidden Corridor ------------------------------ The Terror Mask will speak to Rick and tell him about its need for blood when Rick steps into the hidden corridor behind the fireplace. Walk past the pages on the floor then move up the stairs. Some laughing can be heard in the hallway with windows up ahead. As Rick approaches the windows, Deadmen will burst through them and attack. Several more Deadmen will enter the hall from the other end. Grab them and slam them into the floor. Run to the other end of the hall after the battle then punch the crates in front of the door down the stairs. Boreworms hide in some of the crates in front of the green door. Rick can walk or run over these worms in order to gain extra blood. Kick through the green door to enter the next area. NOTE: Boreworms will be found in several different breakable objects from now on, so be sure to break everything that Rick can break in order to find them and stomp on them to gain extra blood. There is an achievement/trophy associated with stepping on Boreworms also. This one will come in time: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- Boreworm Massacre Stomp on 1000 Boreworms. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - WEST MANSION - Library ---------------------- Jennifer will scream in the distance once Rick enters the library. Walk over toward the right side of the wall and listen to the **GRAMOPHONE (2/12)**. Kick through the next door. A cutscene will play after Rick kicks through the next door. WEST MANSION - Experiment Area ------------------------------ There are four large test tubes in the room that Rick will land in. Rick will only have his right arm and his left arm will by lying on the floor after the cutscene. Pick up his left arm by pressing D-pad down while standing over it. Yeah, Rick can hit enemies upside the head with his own severed arm! A player will gain an achievement/trophy for killing an enemy with Rick's severed arm: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- Morbid Dismemberment Kill an enemy with your own dismembered arm. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Rick's arm will regenerate eventually. Enemies will eventually be able to severe one of Rick's arms through their attacks. Rick cannot use both arms for attacking while an arm is severed, so his normal attacks are very limited at that point. NOTE: Rick can use necro moves when an arm is cut off. The moment that he performs a necro move such as splatter siphon, his arm will immediately regenerate. Be sure to keep this in mind! The door behind Rick is sealed with a mask seal when he gets close to it. These type of seals means that there is something to be done in the current room - it is usually a fight to defeat a certain amount of enemies or some sort of mechanism that needs to be interacted with it. Break open all the crates in the current room and crush the boreworms inside then enter room through the open doorway directly ahead. Pick up **JEN'S PHOTO (2/4)** from off the floor in the middle of the room and play the **GRAMOPHONE (3/12)** further in the room and to the right. Reenter the room with the four large test tubes then walk through the doorway in between them. Whenever Rick steps near the 2x4 weapon in the next room, a group of Deadmen will crawl down the walls in the room and attack him. Listen to the **GRAMOPHONE (4/12)** on the cabinet against the far wall after the battle. Reenter the room with test tubes after listening to the gramophone. A cutscene will play and a new type of Deadman (Experimental Deadman) will bust through the test tubes in the prior area. If Rick still has the 2x4 then these new enemies can be splatted against the walls just as easily as the last few Deadmen. If not, hit them with light attack combinations or a light, light, charge heavy, charge heavy combination. These new type of Deadmen with pants are more aggressive than normal Deadmen, making them more dangerous in groups. They have a move where they will dash toward Rick then grab him and choke him - shake the left thumstick/analog to escape the choke. Rick can perform a new type of splatter kill where he will rip off the arms of his enemy while fighting Experimental Deadmen. If he pulls off the arms, pick up one of the severed arms and use it as a weapon like a 2x4. Rick can gain a few achievements/trophies from killing an enemy with an enemy's severed arm: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- See you at the Party Kill an enemy with an enemy's arm. -- None More Dead Get 150 kills with enemy arms. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The door that was sealed with a mask seal will now be unlocked, so kick through the door to open it. -- CHECKPOINT! -- WEST MANSION - Twisting Corridor -------------------------------- Move up the ramp and move around the corners at the top. Go up the stairs ahead then enter the room at the top. There is a segment of the floor that glows green in the room at the top of the stairs. Rick will have to jump then perform a heavy attack to slam through the breakable floor with the green glow. Before breaking the weak floor, pick up **JEN'S PHOTO (3/4)** from under the books on the floor to the left of the glowing floor. Break all of the breakable objects in the room to stomp on a few Boreworms. WEST MANSION - Sacrificial Chamber ---------------------------------- Rick will fall into a chamber with an eye engraving on a wall (blood cipher) overlooking a circular metal platform up ahead. This chamber requires blood in order to activate the blood cipher on the wall ahead. Fortunately, several Deadmen will attack Rick. A few Experimental Deadmen will attack as well. While killing off the Experimental Deadmen, try to perform a splatterkill when they glow red to make Rick rip off their arms. The Experimental Deadmen arms can be used as weapons to quickly defeat the rest of the Deadmen. Defeat all the enemies to power the blood cipher with the eye up ahead. Walk toward the eye when it opens then press the grab button to punch the eye. A staircase that leads downward will be revealed after punching the eye. Move down the stairs and move into the next room as the door at the bottom opens. -- CHECKPOINT -- WEST MANSION - Prison Chamber ----------------------------- Once Rick steps onto the metal floor in the room, Experimental Deadmen will attack. Grab the 2x4 in the middle of the room to make the battle much easier. There are only a few Experimental Deadmen. Break open the crates and barrels and stomp on the boreworms inside for extra blood then enter the open cell on the right side of the room and collect **JEN'S PHOTO (4/4)**. Walk through the big open doorway afterward then move down the stairs. A cutscene will trigger at the bottom of the stairs. A player should get the following achievement/trophy if all 4 pieces of Jen's photo were collected: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- Jen Smells of Rot... of the Grave Re-assemble one of Jen's sexy photos. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- CHECKPOINT! -- WEST MANSION - Chamber ---------------------- A few Foot Soldiers and Experimental Deadmen will attack in the chamber. Many Foot Soldiers and Experimental Deadmen will continue to spawn as the first few are defeated. Be sure to use Rick's evasion roll to quickly roll away from crowds. Only stand and block if Rick gets surrounded. -- CHECKPOINT! -- Eventually a new enemy will enter the chamber through the big door ahead. Boss - Teratoid Alright, this is the bastard that severed Rick's arm earlier. Rick's got some bones to pick with this guy, and Rick's gonna' tear'em off as he picks them. Attacks: Tentacle Slap Dashing Ram Punch and two Tentacle Slaps Roar Counter The Teratoids's main attack is to slap forward with his tentacle. He might dash forward and ram every now and then, but he won't perform his ram often. The best way to damage him is to run toward him and perform any type of attack combination. About five light attacks will be sufficient or a player could use a light, light, charge heavy, charge heavy combo to damage him a bit faster. If the Teratoid ever tries to hit Rick during Rick's attacks, roll to the side immediately to avoid damage. Rick needs to roll away from the Teratoid after about five attacks. The Teratoid will try to perform a counter attack if Rick tries to hit him anymore after that. He will yell while standing in place and this move will immediately cancel any attack that Rick tries to perform and knock Rick away from the Teratoid. Sometimes the Teratoid will dash and ram after five attack also - sprint or roll to the side to avoid the ram. Once the Teratoid begins to blink red, approach him and press the grab button to perform a splatterkill to him. The splatterkill for a Teratoid is always a random button press followed by holding both thumbsticks/analogs upward. Rick can pick up the Teratoid's head afterward, but there are no more enemies for this phase and he won't keep the head for the next phase, so it doesn't do much good to grab it. The Skill Upgrade menu will appear for the first time after this boss battle. Rick's moves and many other skills can be upgraded by using blood to purchase them from this menu. It's a good idea to purchase the following skills as soon as you can: Ram Health +25% Crowd Surf Uppercut Overdrive A player can get the following achievements/trophies from buying skills: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- Hunger Pangs Purchase a skill. -- Blood Lust Unlock 25 skills. -- Lust for After Life Unlock all skills. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The ram will be needed to single out a certain enemy from a crowd in the coming stages. It's a good idea to upgrade the health bar at least once for right now. Crowd Surf is good for crowd control and the Uppercut Overdrive is overall good for single enemies - Rick can also gain an achievement/trophy for performing the Uppercut Overdrive on an enemy. Now that the Skill Upgrade menu has been shown, a player can pull it up at any time from now on by pressing the Back/Select button. Move through the doorway ahead to trigger a cutscene that will end this phase. ___ P H A S E |__ [PH02] ---------- __/ / -------------------------------------------------------------- / __/ T H E D O L L T H A T B L E D -------- /____/ --------------------------------------------------------------- WEST MANSION - Stairway ----------------------- An Experimental Deadman will bust out of the left wall and attack while Rick moves down the stairs ahead. Rick can anticipate his arrival then run back up the stairs as he moves out and then attack him once he stops. Kick through the door at the bottom. WEST MANSION - Blood Offering Chamber ------------------------------------- The Terror Mask will point out the two blood ciphers on the wall to the right as Rick enters the next room. Rick will have to feed them blood in order to exit this room. Along the left and right walls there are Experimental Deadmen trapped inside of test tubes and a valve hand is in between each of them. Walk over to each valve handle and rotate it with the grab button. It's best to rotate the right valve handle first to get a photo behind the door near it. After rotating the valve handle on the right wall, the big gate across from Rick will open and several Experimental Deadmen will attack. Use this chance to try out Rick's ram. Sprint into the Deadmen with the Sprint button then press the Heavy attack button to ram them. This move is really good for singling out enemies in a crowd. Remember that the yellow glowing enemy is the one that is currently targeted. Rick can target other enemies if he faces different directions while ramming. Rick can also use the "No Head Room" (light, charge heavy) if the Uppercut Overdrive was bought to easily kill off normal Experimental Deadman in one sequence. Rick can grab an Experimental Deadman while it falls after it is knocked up, so a player can hit a an Experimental Deadman with a light, charge heavy, grab combination and kill it instantly. The only flaw with this is that its single kill only for the most part. NOTE: Try to fight all of the Deadmen while in the room that they spawn from. Run into the room as soon as the door opens. The symbol for the correct blood cipher to hit will be in a few places along the floor in the spawning room and throughout the chamber, but Rick must splatter blood over it in order to see it. The symbol will be different per playthrough. **JEN'S PHOTO (1/4)** is in the right corner of the room with the Deadmen after rotating the right valve handle. Punch through all the barrels and crates and stomp on the boreworms inside of them. Both of the blood cipher's eyes will open when Rick enters the middle area after fighting one set of Experimental Deadmen. Punch the cipher eye with the symbol that is displayed on the ground in blood to make a stairway form in the middle area. Rick will descend into a new area. WEST MANSION - Basement ----------------------- Rick will fall into the basement below the Mansion. The basement area is much like a 2-D Splatterhouse stage. The camera will show a side view of Rick as he moves ahead (to the right). Move over to the left and break the crate then stomp on the boreworms. Pick up the shiny meat cleaver sticking out of the back of the dead creature on the floor. It's time to do some dirty work, Rick-o! NOTE: Keep in mind that Rick can sprint with the sprint button while moving through these 2-D areas. Hit the Deadman as it runs toward Rick further ahead then jump and hit the wooden crate that is suspended on the ceiling and stomp the boreworms that fall out - hit the suspended crate with a jumping heavy attack. Keep moving further to the right and chop and punch through the Deadmen along the way. Rick can face upward to hit the Deadmen that race toward him from the background up ahead. Rick's meat cleaver will eventually break. Punch through the Deadmen further to the right then knock down the boarded up area with crates behind it with a few punches to open the way forward. Rick will have to make some timed jumps/sprints/rolls to get over a few spiked floors up ahead. Run over the spiked floors when the spikes sink into the floor. Rick will have to perform a roll to move up under the suspended cage up ahead with the Fetus inside of it. Rick will eventually reach some stairs. Move up the stairs and punch through the wooden barricade at the top. Spiked balls hooked to chains will be swinging over gaps up ahead. Time a jump to leap over the gap whenever the spiked ball is in the background or foreground to make it by each one safely. NOTE: Don't just suddenly press forward + jump while standing near a gap. Rick will likely fall if you do that. Hold forward for at least a second prior to pressing the jump button to make Rick jump further. Roll up under the suspended cage and prepare to punch through the next wave of Deadmen as they charge toward Rick. Move down the stairs and leap over the gaps with the lava - hold the sprint button and do a jump to make it over the lava gaps. Rick doesn't have to sprint, but he will just barely make it with a normal jump. Remember to hold forward for a bit then tap the jump button to keep from falling in on accident. Punch through the Deadmen on the way up the stairs then punch through some more at the top of the stairs. Use some timed jumps/sprints/rolls to get past the spiked floors further ahead. Beware the Deadmen that will charge at Rick from the left side of the screen while trying to move over them. Rick will eventually reach an area with caged doors that have hands sticking out of them. More Deadmen will attack and Rick will have to move by some more spiked floors further ahead. Punch through the wooden barricades on the other side of the spiked floors then fall to the next area. WEST MANSION - Basement Prison Corridor ------------------------------------- The game will switch back to a viewpoint behind Rick for the remainder of this phase. Punch the crates and barrels up ahead and stomp through the boreworms. Step through the opening in the wall at the end of the corridor. WEST MANSION - Basement Holding Area 1 -------------------------------------- Punch the crates and barrels in the room then walk over to one of the gate doors on either side of the room. Foot Soldiers are grazing on human remains behind each door. Rick must shed enough blood in this room to make skeletons with spikes on their mouth lower from both sides of the locked door ahead then impale the Foot Soldiers on the spikes to open the door. Use the grab button to lift up the door on each side of the room then kill the Foot Soldiers. A player will have to hold up on both thumbsticks/analogs to push up the door after pressing the grab button. Punch through the barrels and crates in each room. In the left room, **JEN'S PHOTO (2/4)** is underneath a left crate in the back of the room. While fighting the second set of Foot Soldiers in the opposite room, a skeleton head with a spike sticking out of its mouth will move down from above the door to the left of the locked door in the middle room once enough blood has been shed. Grab a Foot Soldier with the grab button and aim him toward the spike and kick him with the heavy attack button to impale him on the spike. A player will get the following achievement/trophy for impaling a Foot Soldier in this area: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- Bad Taste Impale an enemy on a spike. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Another skull with a spike in its mouth will move down from the right side of the door eventually. Kick another Foot Soldier toward the new spike. The door in the middle room will open after another Foot Soldier has been impaled. Enter the dark corridor through the new doorway. WEST MANSION - Basement Dark Corridor ------------------------------------- Pick up the meat cleaver on the way down the corridor. Bust open the wooden crates along the sides of the corridors then run through the door at the end after it opens. WEST MANSION - Basement Holding Area 2 -------------------------------------- Rick will enter another area with a locked door that has two skull heads above it on each side. A Teratoid along with two Foot Soldiers will attack once the door to the right opens in this room. The Teratoid can make surrounding enemies more aggressive by yelling while they are surrounding him. This will make the Foot Soldiers glow a purple color and they will attack more aggressively. Try to kill the Foot Soldiers first since they are weaker than the Teratoid. Kill the Foot Soldiers with the meat cleaver then use charged heavy attacks to damage the Teratoid. Rick can also pick up severed heads from the Foot Soldiers and toss them at the Teratoid to damage him really badly (charge the heavy button to throw while holding a severed head). Punch through the crates and barrels in the room where the Teratoid was. Walk over to the door on the other side and open it then kill the Foot Soldiers inside. Rick will find a 2x4 in the next room. Keep killing Foot Soldiers to make the skull heads drop from the sides of the door. Pick up the Foot Soldiers with the grab button and toss them at the spikes on the skull heads when they lower. These skull heads will stay up higher than the skull heads in the other room. A player must grab a Foot Soldier then angle it up perfectly with the spike before pressing the heavy attack button to toss the Foot Soldier upwards and impale it on each spike. If Rick is not properly facing the spike then he will simply kick the Foot Soldier away. The door in the middle will open after two Foot Soldiers have been impaled. Move down the corridor ahead and break through the wooden crates and barrels along the way. An Experimental Deadman will attack at the end of the corridor but he shouldn't be that big of a deal by himself. Run into the next room as the door opens. WEST MANSION - Basement Holding Area 3 -------------------------------------- The doorway ahead is locked and the camera will show a lever that is behind the door on the right side of the area. Lift open the door on the right then bash through the crates and Deadmen will attack. There is metal pipe in the back of the area that Rick can use to help fight off the Deadmen easier. Walk through the opening in the wall then pull the lever down using the grab button. Four spikes will move out of the circular metal pieces surrounding the door in the middle room. Lucky for Rick, a few Foot Soldiers will fall in the middle room. NOTE: All of the Deadmen in the area must be killed before Rick can interact with the lever. Grab and toss a Foot Soldier at each of the spikes along the sides of the locked door. There are four spikes altogether. When Rick runs out of Foot Soldiers, open the left door to bring out some more Foot Soldiers. The door in the middle will open once four Foot Soldiers have been impaled and all Foot Soldiers have been defeated. Move into the next area. WEST MANSION - Stairway Corridor -------------------------------- Rick will move by a spiked ball with a chain attached to it on the way up the stairs. The spiked doorway at the top will open up, so step through it for a cutscene. WEST MANSION - Haunted Hallway ------------------------------ Punch all the breakable objects in this hallway for some extra boreworms. The mask will begin to speak to Rick during a cutscene eventually. Run up the stairs and pick up the meat cleaver at the top then kick open the next set of doors. WEST MANSION - Dark Room ------------------------ When Rick kicks open the doors, Jennifer will be standing in the middle of the room with her back turned. Move toward her to activate a cutscene. The room will change into a much "brighter" display of color and several Deadmen will attack. Slice through the first wave of Deadmen with the meat cleaver then another wave of Deadmen and Experimental Deadmen will attack afterwards. Kill them all off and eventually the room will switch back to its normal look. Enter the hallway through the open doors ahead. WEST MANSION - Picture Hallway ------------------------------ Jen- er, the smartass Terror Mask will call out to Rick as he enters the next hallway. Kick through the door at the end then step inside. WEST MANSION - Bedroom ---------------------- A few Deadmen will be chowing down on something on the bed in the bedroom. The crate on the right side of the room can be bust open to reveal a 2x4 that could come in handy here. Deadmen will swarm the bedroom. Constantly grab them and Rick will kill them all instantly and gain invincibility from the mob. Activate the GRAMOPHONE (5/12) near the entrance to the bedroom after the battle. Move down the long hallway to the side of the bedroom. WEST MANSION - Secret Corridor ------------------------------ A new enemy will fall down near the end of the corridor then charge Rick. This enemy is a new form of Deadman. It is the Glowing Deadman and it can be a real ass in a group of Deadmen. This enemy is only slightly more powerful than a standard Deadman, but it can easily chop off Rick's arms, which makes it a real obstacle in a crowd if not taken down quickly. Spring toward the Glowing Deadman and hit it with a heavy 2x4 attack if Rick still has the 2x4. If not, ram the Glowing Deadman after performing a sprint then hit it with heavy attacks. It's best to hit these Corrupted before they have a chance to attack Rick and possibly severe an arm. If one of them ever severs an arm, immediately perform a splatter siphon to stun them and make Rick's arm grow back. Destroy all the wooden crates at the very end of the hall to reveal Boreworms. Step through the opening off to the left. Run to the end of the next hallway then jump into the air and slam the pressure platform in the middle of the floor with a mid-air heavy attack. Jump and hit the button with a heavy attack. This will open a door in the hallway behind Rick but it will also activate some spiked crusher traps. Time a run to quickly run by each crusher (use the sprint). Step through the opening at the end that is now open then run by the next set of crushers around the right corner. At the end of the hall, a group of Deadmen will attack from around the left corner. Paint the walls red with their blood then move up the stairs and step through the opening in the wall at the top of the stairs. WEST MANSION - Children's Room ------------------------------ The door directly ahead is blocked with a mask seal. Activate the **GRAMOPHONE (6/12)** on the right side of the room then kick through the double doors to the right of the gramophone. Kill all the Deadmen in the room behind the door then activate the other **GRAMOPHONE (7/12)** inside of that room. Kick open the door on the other side of gramophone 6. A glowing Deadman is behind the door. Rush at him with a ram then hit him with heavy attacks. Pick up **JEN'S PHOTO (3/4)** in the back of the room. Step back into the main room and the seal on the door to the right should be broken if all Corrupted in the room have been defeated. Kick through the door and enter the hallway behind it. -- CHECKPOINT! -- WEST MANSION - Hallway ---------------------- A few Deadmen will attack then a Glowing Deadman will attack with a few other normal Deadmen. Be sure to ram the Glowing Deadman to keep him from attacking when Rick moves up to him. Run to the door at the end of the hall then kick it open. WEST MANSION - Upside-down Room ------------------------------- Rick will have to fall into the next room. Rick will fall to the ceiling of the room and have to walk across the ceiling. A wave of Foot Soldiers will attack in this room. Be extra careful when the second wave of Foot Soldiers appears since a Glowing Deadman will be along with them. Use the ram to hit the Glowing Deadman then kill it first to keep it from severing an arm. If it severes an arm, do a splatter siphon immediately to get Rick's arm back. After the enemies have been defeated, the door on the opposite side of the room will open. -- CHECKPOINT! -- WEST MANSION - Long Hallway --------------------------- A total of three Glowing Deadmen will move through the door at the other end of the hall as Rick runs to the other end. A piece of furniture will fly toward them from the side and kill all three of them though. Run to the other end of the hall then move into the open hallway to the left. Stay against either side of the wall (left or right) and move ahead to avoid the furniture that will slide down the center of the corridor. Rick will have to move to the center of the corridor while moving past a pillar, but do it quickly. The second piece has another piece directly behind it so don't move too quickly. Step into the big area with the doors on each side then collect **JEN'S PHOTO (4/4)** from off the right side of the floor. Run into the corridor ahead and keep to one side like before. Step into the next big area and wait for the two cabinets to fly down the hall then move further ahead. The door at the end of the hall will open as Rick steps toward it. -- CHECKPOINT! -- WEST MANSION - Doll Room ------------------------ Move toward the doll in the chair at the end of the hall to trigger a cutscene that will lead into a boss fight. Boss - Golem Monster Attacks: Funiture Toss Clock Hand Smash Double Arm Smash Two Strikes and Left Arm Smash Left Foot Smash Left Hand Shots From the start of the fight, the Golem monster will have furniture flying around it as gusts of wind keep the furniture in mid-air. The furniture will spin in place then the Golem will make it fly toward Rick piece by piece until all of it is gone. Run to the sides and sprint right as each piece begins to fly toward Rick to avoid it. A player will have to constantly change directions while stepping away from the furniture. The Golem has several physical attacks that it will do once the furniture is all gone. Rick will have to constantly run to the side then quickly sprint to avoid its attack and then hit the Golem while it is stunned. It will stay stunned for the longest after its clock hand smash and two strike followed by a left arm smash. The Golem will lean over with either the right or left arm stuck to the ground. Rick can use that time to hit the Golem from any portion of the body. A player will really have to keep an eye on the Golem and respond quickly with a sprint at the slightest change in movement when it prepares to attack. Staying too close to the Golem can cause Rick to get hit by the feet of the Golem and it does have a foot crush with its left foot, so stay near its feet, but don't touch them. The double arm smash where the Golem raises both of its arms and makes them fly toward the floor in front of it takes the quickest movement to avoid. Sprint out of the way very quickly when it raises both arms. While close to the Golem, sometimes it will point its left hand toward the floor underneath it and fire two shots toward the ground to create a shockwave in front of it - Rick will have to run away from up underneath it to avoid this move. Whenever the Golem sinks either of its arms into the ground, run up to it and attack it with light or heavy attacks. Use the splatter siphon whenever Rick needs more health. A player can actually use the splatter siphon for quick invincibility from the Golem's attacks if needed. The necro meter will constantly recharge as Rick attacks, so don't worry about conserving it. When all of its health is gone, the Golem will break the floor and fall to the floor below. Rick will follow behind it. Prepare to tap a random button as Rick starts to pound on the Golem's upper portion with a board. The inner portion of the Golem will be revealed as Rick pounds on it and tears it apart from the top. The Golem will fall to the floor even further down and Rick will fall along with it. -- CHECKPOINT -- The Golem will get stuck in the portion of the floor at the very back of the bottom floor. The fight will begin again and its health meter will be displayed once again. Attacks: Double Arm Smash Double Arm Extend Strike Clock Hand Smash The Golem will keep its double arm smash while it remains in the background, but it will send both arms toward the wall in the back of Rick when it attacks. Quickly sprint or roll to the side as it prepares to extend both of its arms. The Golem will also perform a slap to the right with both arms. Its right arm will move across the area where Rick is so he will have to perform a timed jump to avoid that arm. Rick will have to jump a little bit before the second arm slap to avoid it. The timing can be very tricky. Rick should stay about mid-distance from the Golem for this fight. Don't stay too far away or Rick will have a greater chance of getting hit easily and he won't have time to move up to the Golem when it is stunned. Don't stay too close or the attacks will be harder to avoid since Rick will be so close. The Golem will eventually hit the side of the floor near it with its right arm and sink its clock hand into the floor. When it does this, run up to it and hit it with light or heavy attacks to damage it - it's really best to ram toward it then start hitting it. The mask will always yell out "Watch the clock" before the Golem performs its clock hand smash. Like during the last battle, Rick's necro gauge will constantly be recharged as he hits the doll, so use splatter siphon to gain extra health when needed. Rick will have to bring down the Golem's health gauge a total of two times. Prepare to press the random button as Rick jumps to the head of the Golem and begins to tear open its head. -- CHECKPOINT -- The Golem will knock away the rest of the floor then Rick will fall to the very bottom floor along with the Golem. The Golem will have furniture flying around it once again. The Golem fights the exact same as in the first portion of the battle now. Attacks: Funiture Toss Clock Hand Smash Double Arm Smash Two Strikes and Left Arm Smash Left Foot Smash Left Hand Shots Clock Hand Strikes Dodge the furniture by sprinting to one of the sides as it flies toward Rick and it will begin to attack with arm swings and foot stomps like before. The Golem will recover from its attacks much faster this time though. It will also do a new attack. Sometimes it will swing its clock hand in front of it twice. This move can be avoided by sprinting or rolling to its side right as it performs the move. Like before, Rick will have to hit the Golem whenever it performs either of its attacks where its clock hand or left hand gets stuck in the ground. A player will have to move away from the Golem faster when it recovers this time since it will recover faster. A cutscene will trigger once the Golem's health gauge has been depleted once again. Prepare to press the Berserker mode button when the button prompt appears after the Golem raises its foot to stomp on Rick (LB/R2). Press the random button that appears when Rick catches the Golem's left foot in his grip while it tries to crush him. Tap the random button that appears when Rick grabs the Golem's left arm and slams the arm into the chest. As Rick starts to tear the head portion, the clock hand will try to knock him off. Hold up on both the left and right thumbsticks/analogs to keep Rick's balance. A player will gain the following achievement/trophy for finishing this phase: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- The Berserker Complete Phase 2: The Doll that Bled. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A player will also unlock the Berserker skill in the upgrades menu now that Phase 2 is completed. It's a real good idea to purchase the following for the next phase: Necro Bar +1 Health +25% Tear you to Pieces Tear you to Pieces isn't all that important, but with that grab, Rick can instantly kill any enemy by just grabbing it one time. He can grab it once then a player can tap the grab button again to tear off the enemy's arm. It's a very nice move to have for annoying enemies that simply won't die easily. Rick can also use the enemy arm as a weapon for a few attacks. _____ P H A S E |__ / [PH03] --------- /_ < -------------------------------------------------------------- ___/ / I N T H E S H A D O W O F T H E A B Y S S ------- /____/ ---------------------------------------------------------------- CORRUPTED CITY - Junkyard ------------------------- Rick will start this phase in a junkyard in some other time period. Break the objects in the immediate area and grab the lead pipe behind the breakable dumpster. There is a new enemy that is standing still and staring at Rick up ahead. It most likely wants to have one of Rick's Nikes stuck up its ass so let's not disappoint it. Walk toward the creature and it will move further ahead then turn back around and stare at Rick. Move closer to it and a cutscene will activate. Four more creatures will hop out and join the other. These creatures are known as Morlocks. Morlocks try to keep their distance from Rick as much as they can. They rarely rush in and attack. They mainly try to surround Rick then perform a jump attack. They will jump out of sight then a red targeting cursor will appear below Rick and they will try to hop on his back and claw him. It's important to keep your finger near the roll button while fighting them so Rick can quickly roll out of the way whenever a Morlock targets the floor below him. Rick can also sprint to avoid a Morlock leap attack, but the roll is much better. To fight them off, use Rick's ram to knock them down or hit them with sprinting heavy lead pipe attacks (if Rick grabbed the pipe earlier). Morlocks are not really powerful, but they can get annoying when trying to chase them down. Use Rick's ram if you ever have problems catching one. Rick can kill one easily with a light, charge heavy, grab combination if the Uppercut Overdrive has been unlocked - this is a good method to kill singles, but keep in mind they can jump away from the uppercut easily. Another group of Morlocks will attack from back in the beginning area after the first few are defeated. One final Morlock will fall out of a nearby crate as it tilts over to the side. That crate is the next area to go to. Pick up **JEN'S PHOTO (1/4)** from the area behind the stack of crates where the first Morlock was leading Rick to. Find the crate that the last Morlock fell out of. It's right near some burning debris that has a sign above it. The crate has a pink "X" symbol inside of it. Move up into the crate and run across the top of the crates above. The camera will show a sparking console up ahead. Keep moving across the crates to reach the console. Press the grab button near the console to destroy it and the overhead crane will lower a suspended crate to form a bridge that leads across some crates and to a staircase. Move across the crates then fall to the staircase. Step inside the open crate then destroy all the breakable objects while moving up the stairs inside. The door at the top will open as Rick steps near it. -- CHECKPOINT! -- CORRUPTED CITY - Trap Area -------------------------- Fall down to the lower area below and a cutscene will trigger. A big grinder will appear behind Rick and the game will showcase him from the side for another 2-D platforming area. |
