At first i thought you meant the cuirass , then i started to think you meant the entire
armor from head to toe. So just to make sure i'll list all the relics and how to find them
so this answer will be quite long. Also note that by killing a KoTN you can get a lesser
version of the armor.
Pilgrimage : 1st thing's first. You must find the prophet and speak to him in order for
the questline to be activated. The prophet is in Anvil in the garden next to Berinus
Manor. He is raving seemingly nonsense and shouldnt be hard to spot. You can also ask
Anvil's townspeople about rumors and then the prophet that'll add a cursor to where the
prophet is.
Answer in the humblest way and the prophet will send you on a pilgrimage (note that you
can choose any and every answer possible until you choose the correct one it wont affect
anything). The prophet gives you a "wayshrine" map to guide you. The map is quite
reliable. You have to visit one shrine for each of the Nine Divines (not that there are
multiple shrines for each Divine). Each time you activate a shrine you get a quest update.
Finally when the last shrine is visited (activated) you receive a vision of pelinal
whitestrake and he sends you on the arduous task of finding the relics.
Helm of the Crusader : after the vision ends you are sent to retrieve the Helm. You are
sent to the ayleid ruin of Vanua , where the Helm was last seen. Vanua is located near the
Imperial City, in the area where the Upper Niben meets Lake Rumare. Swim underwater in
that location and you will find the submerged entrance to the ruin. The way forward is
fairly straightforward, akin to the layout of a standard Ayleid ruin, though at some
points you will need to enter rocky, musty caverns accessible though holes in the walls to
bypass cave-ins. Within the second zone of the ruin, the "Shrine of the Crusader" , you
will find the body of the fallen knight Sir Amiel, armed with a Fine Steel Longsword and a
Knights of the Nine Shield. Search his body to find his journal and ring. Continue through
the "Shrine of the Crusader" on to The "Lost Catacombs", a brief but monster-infested path
which will loop back up into the upper-half of the Shrine of the Crusader. There you will
find the Helm of the Crusader on an altar atop a ledge overlooking the body of Sir Amiel.
Take it to finish the quest.
Cuirass of the Crusader : Next you have to find the "priory of the Nine" where the cuirass
is. Reading Sir Amiel's journal adds a map marker to where the priory can be found. Within
the main building of the priory you will find a large symbol on the floor. Activate it (as
long as Sir Amiel's Ring is in your inventory) the floor will drop down to reveal a door
to the Priory Basement. Enter and make your way through to the door to the Priory
Undercroft. In the Priory Undercroft you will find the ghost of Sir Amiel. He informs you
that he and the ghosts of the seven other present Knights of the Nine will test your worth
in honorable combat before you will be allowed to take the Cuirass of the Crusader. One by
one, you will combat each of the ghostly Knights, Sir Amiel lastly. You cannot exit the
undercroft once Sir Amiel's ghost has spoken to you so you cannot use the beds to rest and
recover in between battles. However , there is a small pause in between fights that allow
a chance to heal yourself and repair your equipment. Once all the Knights are defeated the
Cuirass is yours to take.
Talk to all of the ghosts to learn what they know about the various artifacts and to find
out more about the history of the Knights of the Nine. Four knights in particular have
specific information about the location of an artifact. Talking to each of them will allow
you to start a quest to retrieve that item.
The next relic to search for is entirely up to you , there are no linear path to be chosen
here , you can choose to collect whichever one you please.
Gauntlets of the Crusader : They are in the Chorrol chapel on the floor near some flowers
laid next to it in honor to the Crusader. Obviously there is more to it than just picking
them up , there is a spell on the gauntlets that make it impossible for anyone to be able
to lift them up. Speak with Areldur to learn about Kellen's curse. Kellen is staying at
the chapel, and can be found in a bedroom in the Chapel Hall. If you talk to Kellen about
the curse, he claims that Areldur acts like he's holding back information. Return to
Areldur, who will now admit that he knows that the only way for him to free Kellen of the
curse would be to take it on himself, and he is too cowardly to do so. He asks if you know
of someone who would pray to Stendarr and take on Kellen's curse. Activate the Altar of
the Nine in the Chapel, and you will be asked whether you wish to take the curse. Accept
and you will receive a quest update telling you that you can now Lay Hands on Kellen to
free him of the curse, and you will have gained the corresponding "Lay Hands" Lesser Power
(still located in your spell section but at the top under 'Lesser Power' as opposed to
'Spells'). Go to Kellen and use "Lay Hands" on him, which will free him and the gauntlets
of the curse. Kellen is ecstatic at feeling so healthy, and runs around the room a few
times. In exchange, you are afflicted with the Curse of the Consumed, which constantly
damages your fatigue by 5 points (although a bug may prevent the Curse from actually
damaging your fatigue). The only way to rid yourself of the curse is to continue with the
quest line: upon receiving the The Blessing of Talos, the curse will be removed.
Return to the chapel, and you can now pick up the Gauntlets of the Crusader.
Boots of the Crusader : Very important to get the boots before you try to get the mace ,
simply because you need the boots in order to get the mace.
If you make the "Nature's Fury" quest active, you will get a map marker for the Shrine of
Kynareth, west of the Imperial City. Go to the Shrine of Kynareth and speak with Avita
Vesnia about "Boots of the Crusader", and she will tell you that to be granted the boots,
you must pass Kynareth's test of worthiness in the Grove of Trials. She will only give you
this information if you are not in the middle of a fight (i.e., there is no combat music
playing). Otherwise, she will tell you: "Kynareth will show you no favor until your
current conflicts are resolved. Finish your fights, then return here."
Your map marker will be moved to the Grove of Trials. Proceed to the grove and after a
couple minutes an oversized bear named Forest Guardian will approach and attack you. Do
not fight back; rather stand, block, and take the blows, though you can heal still. After
a few hits, the bear will stop and a stone will move to reveal the door to Kynareth's
Grotto.
Also make sure you leave your horse (if you have one) back at the shrine or even further
away as the Forest Guardian might attack it and the horse will fight back making it
impossible for you to get the stone door open unless you reload.
Enter Kynareth's Grotto to find an altar holding the boots, with a Spriggan standing to
each side. Ignore them (they do nothing) and take the Boots of the Crusader. If you choose
to kill either of the Spriggans, you will acquire one point of Infamy.
Mace of the Crusader : Enter the Chapel of Zenithar in Leyawiin. Carodus Oholin approaches
and asks if you're the one restoring the Knights of the Nine. He tells you that he could
not pass the test to retrieve the Mace of Zenithar, and that he has instead stayed to
protect and guard it.
Enter the Chapel Undercroft and pray to Zenithar at the tomb of Saint Kaladas. Upon
praying to Zenithar at Saint Kaladas' tomb, you will be transported to a dark dimension,
seemingly within the undercroft. Across a chasm from the broken floor you are standing on
is a platform with the Mace of Zenithar on it.
Equip the Boots of the Crusader, and a path will appear that will allow you to walk across
to the Mace of Zenithar.
Shield of the Crusader : At the Priory of the Nine, Sir Henrik told you that if you are
faithful to the teachings of Julianos, you may be able to recover the Shield of the
Crusader, which he stored at Fort Bulwark for safekeeping. Further research indicates that
he and several trusted friends built the Fort for the entire purpose of keeping the Shield
safe within. Through traps and puzzles, the Shield is guarded from less-than-honorable
hands.
Fort Bulwark itself is on the border of Blackwood and Black Marsh, south of Fort Teleman
and north-northeast of Onyx Caverns. A marker has been added to your map.
There are many puzzles to solve before getting to the shield , the first one is "the
candles".
In the northwest section of the fort you will find two important items. First, on the
table there is a Conjurer's Note confirming that they are unsuccessfully searching for the
shield. The note contains one important hint: "The gate to the lower levels no longer
halts our progress. Make note of the candles along the walls if you would pass through".
Second, there is a handle on the floor nearby; turn it to make the gate just around the
corner raise. Make your way down the corridor which ends at a balcony with another handle
on the floor. Turn this handle and notice the two drawbridges in front of you lower.
Backtrack down or jump off the balcony and go back up, to the drawbridges you just
lowered. On the other side of the drawbridges you will discover a room with tiles on the
floor in a 3x4 pattern, with a locked gate on the other side.
The clue in the note tells you how to solve this puzzle: for each row, notice which side
the candle(s) are located on, and how many candles there are. Start from the side with
candles, and count across the same number of tiles as there are candles. Step on that
tile, and proceed to the next row. Or in other words, walk over the tiles in the following
order to open the door:
Left - Middle - Right - Left
Also, the correct tiles make a significantly more solid "grinding" sound.
2nd Puzzle : the guardians
You will now be in the second zone of Fort Bulwark, which has been used by the conjurers
as a prison and torture area. Their victim is Sir Thedret, who is locked in one of the
prison cells. Release him to find out that he was also searching for the Shield of the
Crusader, but was ambushed upon entering and captured by the conjurers. Despite being
tortured, he has refused to tell them what he knows of the shield. Based on another
Conjurer's Note that you can find, it was very lucky for Sir Thedret that you showed up:
within the week, the conjurers were planning to "dispose" of him, "preferably in a manner
most painful". As thanks for being freed, Sir Thedret reveals the clue that he refused to
tell the conjurers: "When the eyes of guardians are upon you, Julianos will show you his
favor."
Continue exploring this section of the fort and disposing of the conjurers. Watch out for
one particularly nasty set of drawbridges, which are guarded by a large number of dart
traps on the ceiling. If you watch closely you will see that the darts fall in sequence
-time your passage and you will pass unharmed. Be prepared to take a lot of damage if you
just run through them. A good speed can help in bypassing some of the traps with little or
no damage by simply jumping from one catwalk to the other. In the end you will reach a
large room to the west, featuring four statues: could these be the guardians from Sir
Thedret's clue?
In a nutshell, yes. To solve the puzzle, you need to make it so that all four statues are
facing the symbol in the center of the floor at the same time. At the base of each statue
you will find a handle; activate the handle repeatedly until the statue is facing in
towards the circular floor emblem in the center (or the statue diagonally across from it).
At that instant the magical flames in front of the statue of Julianos will be
extinguished... and a passage is opened on the south side of the room.
3rd Puzzle : Rodgar's Equipment
The newly opened passage leads to the third zone of Fort Bulwark, which the conjurers have
never been able to reach. As a result, this zone has no enemies in it. The main room
features another puzzle. Your journal 'helpfully' tells you "I've found some sort of
puzzle or trap deep inside Fort Bulwark. I'll need to figure out what it means in order to
acquire the Shield of the Crusader". In other words, no clues this time around.
Exploring the room reveals eight stone guardian statues around the perimeter of the room,
each of which can be activated (does nothing); in front of each one is a large, empty,
stone chest. In the middle of the room is a ninth chest, with a pressure plate in front of
it. When you stand on the pressure plate, you will notice one of the eight statues light
up, and an item appears, hovering in mid-air in front of it. But if you run to try to grab
the item, it cannot be taken and quickly disappears. The final piece of the mystery is
that in the ninth chest you will find a single item. If you take the item and randomly
place it in another chest, it disappears... and a new item appears in the central chest.
If you do this enough times, you will notice that each of the statues has a different item
that appears in front of it. You will also notice that the same eight items appear in the
central chest. To solve the puzzle, you need to take the items from the central chest one
by one and place them in the correct chest, i.e., the one where that item appears. When
you place an item in the correct chest, the statue turns around so it is facing the center
of the room.
Starting from the Upper-Left statue (1) to the bottom left (4) the order of the statues
are :
1- Sword - 2- Goblet - 3- Helm - 4- Stone
Starting from the Upper right (5) to the bottom right (8) the order of the statues are :
5- Book - 6- Hammer - 7- Skull - 8- Gem
Once all eight items have been placed in the correct chests, the magical flames will
extinguish, and the door at the top of the stairs will open. The next room contains the
Shield of the Crusader, on an altar along with a few other items. Take the shield, and
this quest is complete.
Greaves of the Crusader : Proceed to the Priory of the Nine to find it cleaned up and
decorated. Lathon, Sir Roderic's squire, approaches you, informs you of Sir Roderic's
death and Sir Berich's resurrection, and gives you the Greaves of the Crusader. Lathon
will also request to become a Knight of the Nine during your conversation. Eventually, you
will have to accept Lathon to restore the full Knights Order, however, if you accept him
at this point he will insist on following you to Underpall Cave and helping avenge the
death of Sir Roderic during the next quest. He will also inform you that the Wraith of
Lord Berich Vlindrel now has the Sword of the Crusader in Underpall Cave, having found it
along with the Greaves of the Crusader when he was a knight before turning to evil. Sir
Roderic went to his burial place in Underpall Cave to find them. But he was attacked by
its terrible guardian - none other than the wraith of Lord Vlindrel - Sir Berich. He used
the Sword to kill Sir Roderic. Sir Roderic believed that the Sword was corrupted somehow.
Simply travel to Underpall Cave to complete the quest and automatically start the next.
The Sword of the Crusader : Upon arriving at Underpall Cave you will automatically receive
this quest and an update that says to find Lord Vlindrel and recover the defiled sword.
Follow the map marker through the cave and into a buried fort to the door for the
Underpall Reflecting Chamber. There are five zones total to Underpall Cave. However, you
need only make your way through three to find Lord Vlindrel; the latter two simply loop
back around to the first zone. The way to get to Sir Roderic is once you enter through the
first door near the graveyard to the Keep the closest door to your left will take you the
path you need to venture.
Once inside the Reflecting Chamber you will find two paths, both leading to Lord Vlindrel.
The left path is shorter and you will find the body of Sir Roderic on it. The right path,
while longer, is free of enemies and flanks around to a semi-hidden entrance on the very
far side of Lord Vlindrel. Regardless of which you choose, you'll find yourself in a room
with Lord Vlindrel's Wraith. After the battle you will receive the Sword of the Crusader.
The sword has been tainted by evil, just as Sir Lathon had explained. You receive a quest
update stating that you should reconsecrate it at the Chapel of Arkay in Cheydinhal.
Make your way to the chapel, and upon entering you'll find it being attacked by Umaril's
Aurorans. After the battle, pray at the Altar of the Nine. The sword will be removed from
your inventory then put back. You receive a quest update stating the sword has been
purified; you have now recovered all of the relics, and you should make your way back to
the Priory to discuss with your Knights what to do next. When you return to the Priory of
the Nine, Sir Thedret will approach and speak with you, officially completing the quest
and automatically starting the next.
So that's it for the Crusader's Relics , there are more quests in the questline but your
armor and weapons have all been gathered. I hope the answer you were seeking will be found
somewhere in all this.
